Worth forwarding to the 1:00 mark or so, unless you prefer Forrest Gump to Iron Maiden
A few weeks back I posted about getting back to running, and preparing for the Rock-n-roll Nashville Half Marathon. That’s under my belt now. I had estimated conservatively at 3:15 (hours/minutes) due to the two years since my last half, Nashville’s often brutal hills, and the high temperatures expected (by the time I finished it was more than 80 degrees). Nonetheless, I managed to pull it out in 2:33 (and 38 seconds, but who’s counting), which is kind of interesting because that was my average two years ago when I was at my peak (heh) and running several times a week.
With the first half of 2017 behind me, I’m now officially training for a full marathon, which I anticipate hitting in December. A friend of mine sent me a 6 month training program that gives us plenty of time to get ready. In fact, as soon as I’m done with this little blurb, I’m hitting the road for 1.5 miles.
Here’s another thing that is new, though! I normally don’t endorse products, but a friend convinced me to get a Nutribullet, and HOLY SHIT is that thing amazing.
In general, I am NOT a breakfast person. Strictly black coffee, ma’am. But the work making videos for Raw Story is very focus-intensive, and I regularly look up at 2:00 pm, realizing I haven’t eaten anything, and there’s not enough time to digest enough food to fuel my evening run. This little machine has changed that. Honestly, it’s not so much the sheer power (it’s 600 watts, and you get the whole fruit, no sludge) as it is the fact that it’s easy to clean. Two parts, that’s it. Grind up the pineapple, banana, and yogurt; slug it down like medicine; rinse and go, followed by sweet goddess coffee. I’ve been using the thing on average, twice a day. Filling as hell too.
So I guess my point here is, I’m happy with my new toy.
