Bully O’ Day: This morning’s WaPo reports on a third attempt by U.N. nominee John Bolton “to purge career officials he perceived as impeding his policy goals.” (The WaPo’s style section goes after Bolton’s hair: “Tidy the curling, unruly locks at the nape of his neck, tame the volume at the crown, reel in the wings flapping above his ears, and broker a compromise between his sand-colored mop and his snow-colored mustache.”)
Bastard O’ Day: What else do you call the legally illegitimate Thomas Griffith, a nominee for federal appeals court whose “troubling record and serious ethical lapses [include] practicing law with a suspended license in the District of Columbia and practicing law in Utah with no license at all.” (The Senate Judiciary Committee gave Griffith the green light yesterday.)

Bolton: Check out “Horrifying, personal John Bolton story” posted at Daily Kos by amyindallas.
A snippet:
Here’s a small taste:
“Mr. Bolton proceeded to chase me through the halls of a Russian hotel — throwing things at me, shoving threatening letters under my door and, generally, behaving like a madman.”
More after the jump.
I just got a chance to read all of that diary. John Bolton is mentally ill, and should be considered a risk for mental/physical violence against co-workers and subordinates. I’m very serious.
Dkos poster gnat has done some research on the company that employed Bolton’s victim. It’s a nefarious Republican PR firm used to cover up all kinds of human-rights abusing organizations and countries. So, it looks like the woman worked in a snake bit and was surprised that she got bitten by a snake. Or maybe she didn’t know the background of her company.

I hope that link works. Just scroll down on the Susan’s diary link above.
Interesting. Does that lessen the credibility of her story?
No, I would not say that.
It puts it in the context of ‘vicious Republican infighting’ within a nefarious organization.
It will be interesting to observe their reaction to this story.
On the face of it, it rings true.
I hope all our friends in Bellingham and Snohomish County make Rick Larsen pay for that vote.
HOWIE! Can you believe that Larsen?
Susan dances! Howie’s here, Howie’s here! (Now you must post some of your fabulous reports as diaries… since I quote you all the time anyway and a lot of people here already know you by reputation and your writing.)
Many citizens of the little city of Victoria, CA (pop. circa 400,000) particularly its small neighbourhood of James Bay were shocked to see armed US military patrolling the port at Ogden Point. They were guarding a military ship in the harbour by patrolling the entire port. All thanks to Canada’s agreement to sections of the Patriot Act.

More on Italian Journalist Sgrena
According to the Italian papers, a point of contention is US authorities’ refusal to allow Italian investigators to examine the car in which Calipari was travelling when he was shot.
Calipari was killed on 4 March by a US patrol as he escorted Sgrena to the Baghdad airport.
Another intelligence agent and Sgrena were wounded in the shooting, which outraged Italy.
Italy has denied a US claim that the car was speeding and refused to stop following warnings from the US patrol.
NBC said that the joint inquiry failed to resolve the dispute over the speed of the car, with the Americans claiming it approached the patrol at about 80kph and the Italians saying it was travelling much slower.
Darndest thing. “60 Minutes II” interviewed Sgrena on Wed. night. They showed a still photo of the car, but didn’t say a word about the U.S. refusing to let Italians examine the car. Scott Pelly, the segment reporter, also called the shooting a “mistake.”

The car is key evidence, what is the US military afraid of? I have read that the shots came from behind but don’t remember the source. It may have been Sgrena herself.
It was Sgrena who said that…. via Naomi Klein who was on Democracy Now! a couple weeks ago. Klein had just visited Sgrena in the hospital.
