US Decrees its troops not guilty in Sgrena shooting

US military investigators have cleared American soldiers of any wrongdoing over the death of an Italian agent, who was shot at a checkpoint in Baghdad.

The US soldiers were “not culpable” according to the US military report, which Italy has refused to endorse.

The US has evidently decided to be lenient in this case, where an agent of the Italian government apparently attempted to interfere in a routine military operation.

For the benefit of those who may not recall, Sgrena frequently published reports critical of implementation of US policies regarding Iraqi women seized by American gunmen and population reduction techniques that brought eternal freedom to so many in Fallujah, and may have deliberately engaged in unauthorized entry to closed military zones, included information about US operations that are under media cover ban, and failed to embed or even have stories vetted by US military authorities.
