I’m not good at watching these kinds of events … I can’t look at the screen. I can’t bear to listen.

Thank you, Diane, for having a stronger stomach than mine. I think the only times since the 2000 election when I could bear to have him on screen (or audio) for more than a few seconds were the speech he gave right after 9/11 (I was hoping he would rise to the occasion; instead, we got more of the infamous smirk) and during last year’s presidential debates.
Beyond that, I’ve had to rely on others’ analysis and transcriptions.
That’s my pattern as well.

Judical faith based attacks question, Bush says no he doesn’t think Dems are doing it about faith but about they want to legislate from the bench.
When probed about faith and state separation he says there should be separation in essense, says all should be free to exercise faith or not, but not in politics.

I can’t even write anymore about the conference after this last comment,I am nausceous(sp) I was just reporting as he probably is being seen by Reps. and trying in a fair way. I knew he would hang himself and I think he did.
I just want to say this one more thing about So. Sec. he just told the American people their money is not safe with the Government, because they will just spend it, so it’s best to keep it yourself in private a/c’s.. Seems to me people will think, well why can’t the government then change the law and keep our money safe for us and not spend it.

By the time he got 2 sentences out, I was screaming at the tv…especially when he was talking about “having to stop making empty promises to our younger workers” with respect to social security. Dude, those promises are empty becuse YOU stole the SS “trust” fund, and now you’re running around trying to cover your sorry, ugly, stupid ass! GRRRR….

See my comment above about the same thing,my question, “why isn’t our money that we pay into SS held in trust.” He just stood there and said, “we don’t keep it there, we use it to fund other things, (like the Iraq war maybe, oh no that is funded by China isn’t it through our bonds they hold) So pretty much he told the people that we can’t trust them!!!!!!!!!

He seemed very in control so his medication and wiring seems to be working well. Just couldn’t answer any questions in a way that made any sense. Said No child left behind was about measuring, and some states don’t want to measure, every child can learn, not just some, then more about measuring and explaining measuring. Said he will fight against any changes in the bill.
Diane, I think a lot of people are “getting it” more and more every day, it’s just come a little too late to save us from his second term. The complete arrogance and utter lawlessness of the Republicans is becoming harder and harder for people to ignore.
As for NCLB, I was at the local school board meeting (in 2002?) the night they presented how those changes were going to affect the curriculum, and I remember being amazed that no one else realized that is was nothing more than a 5-year plan to destroy the public education system. Today, they know.
I give you a lot of credit for making it through the whole thing. I couldn’t do it.

According to Tim Russert, the big headline tomorrow will be Bush’s proposal to cut Social Security benefits. We’ll have to wait and see.
Scarborough says the headline will be about Social Security “Means Testing”. I’m not an economist so I won’t try to explain what that is, anyone care to give it a shot?
after I heard him say something to the effect of “find the people who want to harm our country and get them out of harm’s way”. Huh??? It is painful to watch him and even more painful to listen to him. Please remind me again how he got to be the POTUS?

I think constitutional is worse for them. It’s pretty obvious most people don’t pay very close attention. If they keep hearing constitutional and changes in the same sentence, people will take it as a change to the constitution. They used this tactic to convince 70% of Americans that Iraq was behind 9/11.
Let’s see, they have Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, Bush’s former speechwriter (don’t know his name), and now Sen. Brownback (R-Kansas) with commentary; WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS!!! grrrrr.
Ok, now they have Sen. Durbin (D-Illinois). He’s mentioning the 1983 commission on Social Security as a model for bipartisan solution to the solvency issue. He mentioned that privitization does nothing to shore up the Trust Fund and won’t be a compromise for Democrats. Go Senator!
Sen. Schumer (D-NY) now. He commended the President for saying that he doesn’t agree with the notion that Democrats are using the filibuster against people of faith. It will be interesting to see how James Dobson responds to Bush.
Every time bush said nukular there were 4 or 5 duplicate posts reminding me to drink. I went through a 12 pack in the first 10 minutes.
My absolute favorite parts were when Bush forgot which shill … I mean reporter … he was supposed to call on next. The whole thing had a very rehearsed feel to it.

President George Bush was bundled into an underground bunker, Dick Cheney was evacuated to an “undisclosed location” and heavily armed secret servicemen took up defensive positions when a fast-moving cloud scudded towards the White House, it was reported yesterday.
The cloud that materialised 30 miles south of Washington on Wednesday morning was so dense it triggered radar monitors on the Domestic Events Network, intended to prevent a repeat of the September 11 attacks.
As an anti-aircraft missile battery on the roof of a nearby building was raised to the fire position, a Black Hawk helicopter was scrambled to take a look, but saw nothing except some clouds, one of which turned out to be the suspected aggressor. … link
