We were for Bill Bradley in the 2000 primary and so disappointed that Gore pushed him out…. but of course supported Gore in the general.
I don’t think Bradley is ruthless enough, sigh. Hillary is. She and Bill are immensely clever people. And that may be what it takes.
However, talk about a polarizing figure.
I feel polarized internally about her. But I think she’s terribly brilliant and highly informed. She was on Charlie Rose last year and talked about all kinds of subjects — for example, her knowledge of North Korea was so impressive and riveting. She not only knew about No. Korea, but she made it fascinating to listen to her talk about it.
I am open to anything…but it seems that Hilliary has been in the pipeline since 2000 waiting for her turn in 2008… ie “I’m going to complete my six year Senate term then, I will take the Presidency.
Soemthing is just not quite right about:
Bush – Clinton – Bush – Clinton
Does this mean if Hilliary wins then we have to wait for Chelsea to have the next dEMOCRATIC president?
Who are the “chosen” Dem candidates? To me, the field is totally wide open at this early stage. Clearly, Hillary is interested. So are Kerry and Edwards. I also think Evan Bayh is an interesting possibility. Both Bill Richardson and Russ Feingold have interest. Governor Mark Warner of Virginia is a real possibility. Joe Biden (BooMan’s hero!) is considering a run.
Why do you think he has a “screw loose”? I’m curious– I don’t. But I do think he’s a lousy campaigner. His op-ed piece a few weeks ago in NYT reflected a very astute analysis of modern politics and the crisis facing the Democrats. I’m trying to post a link here, but it’s now archived and I don’t know if this will work… http://query.nytimes.com/search/restricted/article?res=F10C17F6395B0C738FDDAA0894DD404482

Good topic, Parker. Makes me think.

Who am I forgetting? And who do you like?
Joey has been pissing me off lately. The bankruptcy bill really chapped my hide.
However, his performance at the Bolton hearings reminded me why I love that man.
Did Harry Reid really call Bush a “loser” the other day, to a group of High School kids? Also, Booman, check the story I sent you from NYT.
Yes, Reid called him a loser.
And I didn’t get your email. Try again, please.
is comical. I’ll see if Susan wants to snark it.
Unbelievable. Especially some of the quotes. Come on, put it up on here.
He’s a bit verbose for the stump.
All suggestions are welcomed…
he has that Clintonian ability to breakdown complicated issues into common sense.
He is not a great speech maker, he is a great interviewee. He’s really good at Q & A, and town halls.
But he has a screw loose somewhere that I suspect will doom him during a long campaign.
