Austin Kossacks have a lot to talk about. So we’re meeting at Austin’s traditional liberal watering hole–Scholz Garden, 1607 San Jacinto–at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 15. All Kossacks are welcome! If it’s too hot, we’ll move indoors, so look for us inside if you don’t see us outside.
On the agenda:
Planning for Democracy Fest
Austin Kossacks agenda details & more below the fold…

I’d love to become a trusted user! Officially, that is…
I will be there.
And we will replace Lamar Smith with a Democrat – and maybe even Terry Keel.
See ya Sunday.
Here’s the list of workshops and panels at the National Conference for Media Reform, which is where I’ll be instead. If any of you Austin Kossacks are willing to look through the list and tell me any you’d like me to be sure and try to catch, it would be helpful.
Lots of panels meeting at the same time, so I’ll have to choose. Since I don’t know most of the presenters, I’m not sure how I’m going to decide which ones I’ll go to.
I’ll be checking my comments, if you want to opine. I will definitely take notes and Report when I get back.
9 am Saturday, if that is not too early for you,
Holding Media Accountable Through Policy and Activism – Celia Wexler, Common Cause; Adam Werbach, Common Assets; David Brock, Media Matters for America
11 am Saturday
Copyright and Intellectual Property – Siva Vaidhyanathan, New York University; Kembrew McLeod, University of Iowa; Carrie McLaren, Stay Free! magazine – I have read some of Vaidhyanathan’s work, and it is important.
Of course you knew I would zero in on legal topics.
and I know you’ll make good choices. I’d be interested in knowing what the independent media producers caucus is like–for tips on what we might try to accomplish at the DemFest bloggers’ caucus beyond putting faces to names (and names to user names) and socializing. Looking forward to your report.
