“We appreciate the step that Newsweek took yesterday,” White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. “It was a good first step. And what we would like to see now is for Newsweek to work to help repair the damage that has been done, particularly in the region, and Newsweek certainly has the ability to help undo what damage can be undone.”

Suckers for the suckers? Sure…I’m easy!
Okay, that is a very scary quote! No missing the suggestion that Newsweek bend over a little further and allow itself to be assimilated into the WH propaganda machine…I bet next week’s cover has Ann Coulter or Condi in leather on it…
I vote for Condi, has she has some legs worth looking at.
To see these ladies hanging from a tree, well they both seems to be from the same monkey family as boy bush.

I attended a Civil Rights Breakfast in Austin this morning, and it was a wonderful way to start the day. Luci Baines Johnson spoke on her memories of her father’s work in extending voting rights to African-Americans, and her comments were very moving. She talked about how the President began his career as a school teacher in Texas, and continued his belief in and work for Civil Rights until his death.
It is heartening to know that so many Americans are working to insure Civil Rights for all of us, and I am proud of this community for doing its part in continuing to advance Mr. Johnson’s ideals in this regard.

VIDEO links and as always excellent BBC In Depth reporting!
British MP George Galloway has told
US senators who accused him of profiting
from Iraq oil dealings their claims were
the “mother of all smokescreens”.
In a combative performance before a Senate committee, the Respect Coalition MP accused the US lawmakers of being “cavalier” with justice. “I am not now nor have I ever been an oil trader and neither has anyone on my behalf.”
The senators say he was given credits to buy Iraqi oil by Saddam Hussein.
Mr Galloway traveled to Washington to clear his name before the Senate sub-committee on investigations. He claims the evidence against him is false. He says forged documents had been used to make claims about him before.
Mr Galloway went on the offensive from the start of his testimony, saying the committee had “traduced” his name around the world without asking him a single question.
George Galloway has been named in a US Senate report as having been granted oil allocations by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. The new MP for Bethnal Green and Bow denies receiving any benefits and he spoke to the BBC’s Breakfast program.

we are going to crack 3000 visitors in the next 15 minutes. I set a goal of 3000 visitors and 1000 members a couple weeks ago. We are at 885 members, and we’ll crush 3,000 visits today.
Unfortunately, Susan and I can’t bust out articles like the one we did today on a daily basis.
But we’re making progress. Good progress.
Linked to Andrew Sullivan, Raw Story, and several smaller blogs today.
I’m going to have a drink and relax.
Cheers for Booman and Susan!
Wait! My source in the Pentagon just gave me THE documents. (A girl can dream.)
Thanks, CabinGirl!
It seems to be a Catch-22. You need the numbers to get the financial support, but the numbers dilute the intensity of the postings. The focus is what brings in the punters (of whom I am one)
All that bandwidth is expensive, let alone the admin time. I know the golfing Welshman didn’t enoy the admin work that our contretemps caused at NET but he’s not very software-savvy. It must be the very devil to mediate between factions and lone rangers.
There must be a solution?
Just checked in on Riverbend again. She’s got another post up:
…She stood in the crowded room as her drove of minions stood around her……A huddling mass trying to draw closer to her aura of evil. The lights flashed against her fangs as her cruel lips curled into a grimace. It was meant to be a smile but it wouldn’t reach her cold, lifeless eyes… It was a leer- the leer of the undead before a feeding…
The above was not a scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer- it was just Condi Rice in Iraq a day ago. At home, we fondly refer to her as The Vampire. She’s such a contrast to Bush- he simply looks stupid. She, on the other hand, looks utterly evil.
She really has a way with words.
Great stuff … keep it coming.

Fanatics Plot to Destroy Al Aqsa Mosque ¶ Poll Added
First post by new creve coeur …
The Democratic Model State for the Middle East, have uncovered a plot by Jewish extremists – settlers and religious right – to buy a missile and attack the Holiest Muslim Shrine on the Temple Mount of Jerusalem: the Al Aqsa Mosque.
To show all Arab states, how in a parliamentary democracy, everyone abides by the law, in Israel it’s just the opposite. It is also not the first time, the young nation of Israel are at odds with democratic decisions taken by their government. The extremist in parliament from left to right have often poisoned the atmosphere where true statesmen can lead this nation forward.
The choices Israel has made to secure its existence in the Middle East, have often been at odds with International Law, UN SC Resolutions and opinions world-wide. The further building of the security wall and fence, has received a negative legal opinion by world’s highest court: The International Court of Justice in The Hague.
