Its starting to roll now. From the AP
°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Carl Forti, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, which is co-hosting the dinner, had no qualms about Carey and her boss, adult film executive Mark Kulkis, attending.
“Their money was donated to the NRCC. The NRCC’s job is to elect Republicans. We’ll take that money and use it to elect more Republicans,” Forti said.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Carey and Kulkis said they want to prove stereotypes of porn workers wrong.
“We’re not going to show up with coke spoons around our neck,” Kulkis said.
Oh yeah baby, keep it right there…Much much more south of the border, as they say…I want you all to come…
For more in depth background go to this diary and this one, in chronological order.
Here’s the slightly altered version of the AP version on Ohio News Now:
Another actor? Do either of the two qualify? If Mary Carey is “an actor,” then Heidi Fleiss is “a homemaker.” Whore houses can be homes too can’t they?
Whose responsible for loading the batteries in this vibrating story tonight? Why Wingnut Central cribsheet World News Daily. They’ve been writing in tones of high dudgeon for a while, and were the only conservative voice crying foul. Well, it seems arms have been twisted and they have subborned American Family Association’s Rev. Don Wildmon to lash out with full vituperative force, to whit:
How’s that for fire and brimstone condemnation of this unholy alliance of porn and power? Seems like Rev. Don is distracted by the question of how close his table is gonna be to the action.
The coup de grace is delivered when WND reveals their exclusive interview with the lady in question (“that was no lady…that was my [insert demeaning phrase here].”)
“It would be an honor to meet him,” she said. “I’d like to talk to him about issues like freedom of speech and the crackdown on the adult industry. Maybe he can give me some political pointers.”
The actress says it’s among her dreams to eventually become president, and that’s why she’s getting involved in politics now.

“People can relate to me,” she said. “I come from a middle-class household and I’m very friendly.”
As pointed out in my original diary, here’s a very non-work friendly example of friendly ol’ Mary’s average middle-class point of view in a …um…nutshell:
XXOO, Mary Carey
It’s not so much that people don’t relate to her. Oh, they relate alright. However, it may be that the precise manner of those “relations,” along with their sheer volume, might surprise certain high strung supporters of a certain sitting President.
Then Moneybags Mark Kulkis is thrown into the spotlight to face the harsh music:
“I have good intentions,” he said. “We’re not out to corrupt the country. … You can be faithful to your wife and still enjoy adult movies.”
Kulkis has mixed feelings about Bush, describing himself as a fiscal conservative and social liberal. He also notes the trend of pornography becoming more prevalent and accepted in American society.
“Let’s face it,” he said. “You had [hard-core porn actress] Jenna Jameson’s book on the New York Times best-seller list for weeks. Porn now is pretty mainstream.”
Just how mainstream? Let’s ask the WND readers, shall we? Torrents of outrage, right? Uhhh…no…:
Oh, those sports over at World Net Daily! Such fun around the water cooler. Still, do you detect a certain lack of enthusiasm for the subject matter. At least there’s one trenchant comment:
No arguments on that last point, Sparky. So that’s the current state of media reaction. From nothing to next to nothing. You’ll notice the unattributed passages from the WND article ripped/pushed into the AP article, which is floating out there right now in a thousand variations across the country and in the UK. Could things be heating up before the big, nasty, slurping gulpfest? By which I mean the Presiden’t dinner. Time will tell. For now the countdown continues…
“diary pimping.” (Sorry)
Hard trying to get any traction on this, people think it’s either a joke or I get very jaded reactions. Well if it had been Kerry, or Gore, or especially Clinton within a mile of a pornstar at a fundraiser, Michael Jackson would’ve wondered where all the camera crews went off to. Americablog front paged my last diary on this subject, so I hope you like it too.
personally, I find it just so telling of the republican party. They will all fit in just fine…I will be waiting to hear the stories about the after affect when the earthquake happens. Wonder if Laura will say anything about it or not….:o)
Don’t you know that calling yourself Republican automatically makes you a lover of family, life and traditional, American values even if you espouse bloody wars based on lies, torture, pornography, prostitution, dead baby cuddling, pill popping, multiple marriages, infidelity, homosexual sex and bestiality??
Sheesh.. I guess you didn’t get the memo!
Pax
They don’t use their heads, anyway.
Next!
I’ve been saying this from day one. We have never had a presidency — in my lifetime, anyway — where there was such a disconnect between the perception and the reality. I think it’s more than skillful PR and a compliant press. I think we’re in the midst of a collective madness. But if enough people realize how naked this emperor is, there has to eventually, be a shift in public perception.
I do have to take exception to one of the remarks in this diary. “If Mary Carey is ‘an actor,’ then Heidi Fleiss is ‘a homemaker.’ Whore houses can be homes too can’t they?” If that is simply a swipe at her acting ability, as it is the Gropinator’s, fine. I’m unfamiliar with her work, and will likely remain so, so I am unable to form an opinion. But, it sounds like you’re saying that working in adult films isn’t acting. Those women do define themselves as actors, and many have fought very hard for a voice, and to not be mocked for their sexuality. Let’s face it, this is a topic that has been very divisive on these boards, lately, and I can’t let that slide. I’m not saying you are doing this, but I hear it constantly. A lot of men will defend to the death, their right to enjoy pornographic material, and in the same breath, be very disparaging of the women who perform in it. I’m not saying either that you watch porn (how would I know) or that you meant to mock Ms. Carey’s profession, but I have to tell you that your turn of phrase was abrasive, for that reason.
Now on with dragging the dancing skeletons out of Bush’s closet.
“I love this part: The reason these people are doing this is for publicity and to embarrass Bush,” Wildmon told WND.
These people? The ones who are giving money to the Republican party to elect Republicans? Lol.
I also loved this Kulkis quote from one of your links: you won’t find a group of people more pro-business than pornographers. Hey, in that case, shouldn’t they have their own lobbyist in the White House to edit official papers on religion and morality?
If they actually get to go it’s going to make me wonder who’s got whom by the know you what.
And, I hadn’t really thought about, being so swept up in the comical hypocrisy of a “family values” White House that is host to pornogrpahers and handed a male prostitute daily press passes. I’m sure that this is a good bit of the calculous on the part of Mark Kulkis, and any other adult film exec who is shmoozing with Bushco. Ashcroft ignored terrorism and went after whorehouses and porn. This Administration took aim, early on, at curtailing pornography, and stopping embarrassing incidents, like the world seeing Janet Jackson’s nipple. They’re probably thinking shoveling money into the GOP is a good way to get a seat at the table and get the morality police off their backs. This is a cash-and-carry government, after-all.
