We will be adding a few new features in the near future. All the regional threads have been zeroed out. We will have a link to access old threads. Use the regional threads to find people near you and get organized. The world/open thread is for everyone.
Soon we will have a new user box, with all your preferences and info consolidated. We are also going to make the recent comments button work better and faster. And some other neat stuff.
Use this as a suggestion box.
Update [2005-6-11 20:25:35 by BooMan]:Oh yeah, the BIG SURPRISE:
Let’s hear it for the BooMan! THANK YOU!
Time to click on a bunch of ads, as a thank you!
Hey Susan – I followed your lead and clicked on the ads. Oddly enough, when I exited out of one of the ads I landed in the middle of a Dkos thread. Have no idea which ad I clicked on that ultimately landed me on that site during my advertisement exodus. (And not to wear my tin foil hat loud and proud. . .just sayin’ that something may be linked behind the scenes.)
Good night!
.
on the Texataurus – a voracious beast.
Glad it becomes extinct by 2008! LOL
WELCOME: Make Yourself Known @BooTrib aka lost treasure of dKos
I just can’t wait for all the surprises, booman, we love you dearly and susan too.
Hope you have recovered form the past week.
When will it happen, do you have a date….
That picture of the Eiffel tower looks just like the one from Jerome’s living room window. Is that were it came from?
I think so. What a lucky bastard Jerome is.
Anyone think they can pick his arrondissement from looking at the vantage point?
word-of-the-day toilet paper again.

starts at the North Sea! I knew it – the Axis of George & Toni!

Well, La Tour Eiffel is in the 7th, so maybe that. Or the 6th?

I give up, another post just flew off into oblivion when I tried to Spellcheck.
Just wondering how this announcement is presenting anything that differs from the current site structure. (Keeping in mind. . .I’m slow on the uptake)
you are asking me to write my intro diary tonight rather than tomorrow 🙂
Briefly, there are some political blogs in Europe, some quite good. And there are forums associated with many newspapers.
But Europe has nothing like DailyKos. So, we’re giving it to them. Here Europe…holding out hand…have a kickass tool to kick the asses of reactionaries.
Jerome is obviously in Paris, Soj is an ex-pat in Romania, Sirocco is a philosophy graduate student in Norway. We are going to build the most kick ass European communtity blog in world history…hopefully.
Hah. But seriously, we do hope it will be cool and gain an European audience. But we need all of you to show the Europeans how these sites work, show them the ropes. Scoop can be confusing at first.
I look forward to learning “how to use Scoop” along with the Europeans!
A European Tribune – the world expands and shrinks at the same time – very exciting.
Thanks.
Thank you – very cool indeed! I really appreciate your strategic thinking – and the way in which you’ve laid the groundwork for global planning from the beginning. Truly impressive, and something in which we will all greatly benefit. Seems like a very productive outlet to dissipate your current rage.
Wow, Booman! Excellent!
Any chance of getting a “mojo madness” button to rate all comments “4”? Those of us on 4 patrol this past week were scroll click challenged!
But a great big thank you for the fun and friendly home. . .and a chance to wade in the Frog Pond.
You’re the Booman!
Cool beans. (I see someone finally spilled them too, in the post above… yay!) And congrats and kudos BooMan and Susan (and everyone else as well).
Believe it or not, I don’t have any suggestions (except the categories, but I know you guys are already working on that).
When you update the comment preferences it shows either an error or udates saved – The red on brown scheme is tuff to read. Maybe you could change it to red on white like the user preferences?
Other then that I think it’s great just the way it is.
I have no idea how this would be done, but I always wish there was a world map that showed, in a general way, where we all are….who ever does the programming for Booman Tribune will probably make a voodoo doll of me now.
Can you expand on what you have in mind?
Just a big map with little red dots showing where we all are….by zip maybe. I like the diversity of the group and I thought it would be cool to see a visual of it. But I don’t know you could do it…never mind.
to think of something.
In the meantime, on the bottom right of the site, there is a button called ‘sitemeter’.
Click on it. And then click on ‘time zones’ under the heading ‘site tracking’.
It will tell you what percentage of users that on right now are in which time zones.
Oh that is very cool, thank you.
.
Organization Tracking Pretty Cool!

Booman I was on a site once that when you signed up a world map came up with all the little red dots where people were and you could click on them to find the person, or something about them. Can’t remember the site, but I think it may have been a penpal site. Anyone want to do some googling for it.
Here?

Booman, DreamofPeace’s idea of the map is terrific(I love maps anyway)and hope somehow you could incorporate that idea here. We live in such a visual world that just seeing a map of some sort while we are posting and reading I think would make us all feel even closer to each other. Plus would just kinda be fun.

WELCOME: Make Yourself Known @BooTrib aka lost treasure of dKos
Thanks Oui..I love maps and added this to my favorites list.
What a great surprise! I swear I never guessed it… when does it debut??
Pax 😉
all different languages? What a Hoot…Are you, Jerome, and Sirocco front pagers? I cannot wait to see how it works. I Hope you are feeling better Soj and I hope your new Business is a rip-roaring success that brings you and your clients much Happiness & Success. Felicitations!!!!
I had some thoughts in this comment about preserving information about BooTrib users from their Welcome Wagon posts and about the possibility of setting up a user’s database. Diane101 and shirlstars thought it would be a good idea but would require a fair amount of technical input. Along those lines, would there be a way to increase the character limit for the Bio section in User Info and then to encourage everyone to fill out something about themselves? At 250 characters, it’s hard to explain very much about who we all are.
And for European Tribune, will we need to re-register separately as users there or will everything from here automatically be transferred on over? I’m assuming that the current password restrictions are only there pre-launch (you posted the ad with a live link, so of course I checked it).
will look into the bio stuff.
Y’all will have to re-register at EuroTrib. We thought about making it automatic, but decided against it.
And the password protection will be lifted when we launch. Hope you enjoy the site.
an Excel spreadsheet with columns for user name, user number, and bio info they shared. Maybe it’ll be a help when you figure out a way to organize here with Scoop. It’s going to take me a while though because of the high number of people who joined us with the Welcome Wagon Diaries. We have a diverse group!
Man Eegee is the epitome of “esprit de corps”!
are doing this on purpose. I’ve had to look up three different terms you’ve used today. It’s a good thing, helps with the growth of word arsenal.
My personal favorite is Arrondissement 3. But I’m trying to judge where Jerome lives and assuming that is a sunset, I’m going with 5, or 6. But I know I’m wrong.
in August so I’ll sleuth around. Geez, I just creeped myself out.
Actually let me correct that. I like 4 more than 3. Lots of great wine bars, cheap hotels and a lot of old mansions. I think the Picasso museum is there and the old Jewish quarter. The Marais is my favorite part of Paris.
big fan of the 4th . . . .
One clue: I think the picture was taken at dawn, not sunset…
It does look rather like a dawn sky.
In that case, my guess changes to the 16th. 😉
I have been here so long I don’t know if I signed up in the Welcome Wagon. Is that a problem? I am surprised that Wagon still has it’s wheels. It has been the busiest Welcome Wagon I have even seen in my life. I am glad to know all the info will be stored somewhere. Keep up the great work. What State are you in?
states at the moment. State of pure shame for screwing up a link to a humorous site on a serious diary (ON ACCIDENT), and the State of Arizona. 🙂
Multiple posts are not a bad thing, so drop in and say hello! The good thing with Excel is I can sort everything out in different ways, to see if someone posted more than once. In those cases, I’ll just add the other entries as a new paragraph to whatever was said before. (I will celebrate con gusto with you when Bolton is defeated)
you are rocking my world from Arizona. Way to go.
I hold very dear to me. You commented on my first diary ever with some good feedback. It made me feel less nervous and more inclined to participate here. Thx to you too 🙂
thanks for all the effort you and susan put into this
site. if there are others involved, sorry for leaving you out, i don’t know who you are.
congrats on eurotrib..can’t wait to check it out.
I didn’t have time to bake the cake, so I brought the balloons instead.
Let us know when we can finally login and look around.
Finally FUN HAPPY PICTURES..What a great addition. Not enought pix on these diaries. Way to go Sgilman!!!
I like that “European Tribune” logo.
.
Shouldn’t we kinda keep track of the newbies signing up – unless most are lining up in the bushes near the pond to wait for #1499 before leap-frogging into the pond all at once!
What a Big Splash that will be.
1487 – 88 – 89 … hold on now, not yet!
WELCOME: Make Yourself Known @BooTrib aka lost treasure of dKos
Congrats to Soj, Jerome a Paris, Sirocco, and all those involved.
Wonderful surprise, especially for us EuroBoomaniacs!
European Tribune is an exciting idea and I think the Scoop model will bring a new approach to the European blogosphere. It could also become the much needed place for transatlantic progressive dialogue: we have a lot of issues to discuss in common.
I’ll be glad to contribute much more than I did so far on BT and dKos where I was only a commenter because I didn’t feel competent on most of the issues (and also lack of time).
The Booman Trib is certainly a comfortable place, and it sounds like it’s just going to keep getting better.
But, ah, Booman, shouldn’t you have told Soj before making the announcement?
;^ )
Hey that’s what I said!
Then I looked in my enormous inbox :)))
Nah I’m just joshing… I knew all about it 😉

This time it’s a blue frog family:
Is it possible for diaries that have made it into the “Recommended Diaries” be removed from their place in the “Recent Diaries?”
Thanks.
That would be great for the clueless like me. I learned so much over at dKos. I couldn’t live without Firefox, that tab feature. Especially great for buying airline tickets on line. And here the other day, I just learned how to post a picture. I was astounded at myself. Anyway in these diaries the knowledgeable types could swap tips too.
for the Iraq writer blogroll:

It’s by Nameless Soldier, who posted at dKos before the Pie Wars and probably hasn’t heard of the brouhaha, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a link from here.
