Good old Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina. The dude who wanted to change ‘French Fries’ to ‘Freedom Fries’ cuz all dem dang blasted cheese eating Surrender Monkies has joined a bipartisan group of House Representatives to call on President Bush to ” to begin plans for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.”
And why does the good Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina want President Bush to give a time table?
“After 1,700 deaths, over 12,000 wounded and $200 billion spent, we believe it is time to have this debate and this discussion on this resolution,” said Jones, a member of the House Armed Services Committee.”
Well pone my corn and hush my puppies.
“Other sponsors are Republican Rep. Ron Paul, a former Libertarian presidential candidate from Texas; Democratic Rep. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, another Armed Services Committee member; and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination as an antiwar candidate last year.”
Golly gee, whizdang. Good old pa’traotic Amurkin Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina joining that librul (Stalin order takin’) pinko-commie Rep. Dennis Kucinich a’ tellin’ President Bush what to do.
Criminey. Don’t that just beat all?
The full story is at CNN.
The announcement of this following President Bush’s tirade against “obstructionist Democrats” the other night is interesting.
It may mean Pres. Bush might as well start wearing his Donald Duck outfit and limp around the Oval Office screaming, “Quack! Quack!”
Things are getting down right intense in DC.
And why the heck can’t I edit the Poll headline?
Because then you could make it look like we all hate pie, love Tom DeLay, and enjoy necrophilia.
You can never edit a poll.
Well, dip me in shit, fry me in lard and wipe me off on a bear skin rug… and I ain’t no freedom fry.
I’m glad someone else around here shares my off-beat sense of humor (snark?).
Since my wife’s parents left NC for NM I’ve lost touch with the politics of NC but this, frankly, is cognitive dissonance. My cynical nature is causing me to wonder how many NC National Guardpeople have been killed/maimed/wounded in Iraq over the last year.
And/Or the polls indicating dropping American support for the Iraqi Invasion may have added some impetus.
And/Or Rep. Walter Jones may actually have come to this conclusion based on the total and complete frickin’ mess the Bush administration has created in Iraq.
Anybody know anything about Rep. Jones of NC?
North Carolina has suffered heavy casualties in this war. Home of Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune don’t you know. Eastern NC is still pretty gung ho about the Prez and killing all them damn Iraqis that were responsible for 9/11. As if.
I live near Charlotte NC, and heard the local NPR station this morning do a locally-produced segment on Jones’s position on troop withdrawals. The point was made that Jones’s votes tend to be consistent with his Catholic faith. I’m skeptical how far that goes, but I was nonetheless left with an impression of a sincere guy trying to represent both his conscience and the best interests of his constituents.
