BAGHDAD – Iraqi lawmakers from across the political spectrum called for the withdrawal of foreign forces … in a letter released to the media on Sunday. The move comes as US President George W. Bush is under increasing domestic pressure to set a timetable for the pullout of American forces in the face of an increasing death toll at the hands of insurgents. Eighty-two Shiite, Kurdish, Sunni Arab, Christian and communist deputies made the call in a letter sent by Falah Hassan Shanshal of the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA), the largest group in parliament, to speaker Hajem al-Hassani. Some of those who signed urged that a detailed timetable be established for the withdrawal.”

On one level I’m surprised that MORE deputies didn’t sign the letter. Anger and dissatisfaction with the U.S. has been spreading across all the Iraqi parties.
It’s hard to see how BushCo can spin this as anything other than a “get the fuck out” message from the elected representatives of the Iraqi people.
Maybe we are turning a corner after all, when the Iraqis tell us to stop this charade and go home.
might not be upset by this letter. This may be the only “exit strategy” left to them – just throw up their hands and say “the newly freed Iraqi people feel they’re ready to go it alone, so…”
whoops, there goes all that money and shit like that for the Bushie group! I personally think they have been thinking like this for some time, but just now have gotten brave enough to say it..I sure hope that this is a correct statement.
if I were them. How could it possibly be any worse with us gone.
It’s only the beginning. Keep your eyes on the Brussels Conference this week. Nice to finally see “1546” in print.
If this is legit, it appears the wheels are coming off the fiasco that Bushco started. Add this to the DSM, which is starting to gain traction, as well as the poll numbers, on just about everything these clowns are attempting, going south like a homesick brick, and it has the distinct aroma of a major shit storm coming.
Red Alert, here we come…this is starting to get a wee bit edgy…heh?
