Update [2005-6-19 13:43:14 by BooMan]:We’re experiencing server problems, as most of you are probably aware. We will be moving our site onto a new server sometime tonight, or possibily tomorrow morning. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to email me if the site goes down, or becomes slow.
“Things aren’t getting better; they’re getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality,” Hagel tells U.S. News. “It’s like they’re just making it up as they go along. The reality is that we’re losing in Iraq.”

I wish I could remember half the great lines from the abso-fucking-lutely brilliant Margaret Cho, who the spouse and I had the pleasure of seeing last night!
The only one I remember clearly was not from Margaret, but from her opener Bruce Daniels in describing Condoleeza Rice: “a house n****r with a good 401(k) plan.” Probably not exactly politically correct, but the crowd liked it…
Oh well, we’ll all just have to get the DVD when it comes out…
Nice to see columns like this. This one from the Desert Sun
I have a sense that the DSM stories are reaching some sort of critical mass. It’s really out there now and the administration and their lackey pundits will have a hard time spinning it away.
keep going down for everyone? or just some of us? I’ve been having a really hard time over the past two days getting here or eurotrib. It times out before the connection is made.
I’m just wondering because I’ve little mention of others having problems.
Here’s hoping it’s either:
The price of success, or attacks from the nutwing who are afraid of BooMan.
What say you, BooMan?
Somehow it never fails that I comment just when the story gets changed. I guess the answer is: the price of success. Good going.
the answer is: evil gremlins.
First our main server started to have a hard drive failure, so we switched to another one. Then the new one started freaking out and needing to be reset all the time.
We’ll have technical backup and support on the one we are transferring to.
and now your outsourcing it? Or the host is just changing equipment? None of my business of course, but I’m always curious about how blogsites work technically.
were developing EuroTrib and so we kept BooTrib and EuroTrib on our own servers. But they both have begun to crap out, and EuroTrib is launched, so we’re out outsourcing it.
The site has had problems in the last few days, Booman is working on it, I talk to susanhu a little while ago and they are trying to solve the problem..
We were all talking about it the other night..
Cool… good to know I’m not the only one, lol. I thought maybe my internets were breaking ;).
Okay. You deserve to know the truth.
The server is designed to fail everytime the CIA and FBI check on us.
OMGoodness! I knew it! Good thing I’ve got latest in the spring line of BooTrib Tin Foil head gear or I’d be in trouble.
(don’t worry, I’ll keep your secret)
Grand Moff Texan?
Hey, don’t pick on the Moff. That dude is cool.
Shall we raise the feral kittens to be Americans or Canadians?
We have a radio in the garage. Shall we tune in to CBC — where they’ll hear classical music and Canadian people talking softly — or KONP, the local AM station where they’ll hear Rush Limbaugh and Art Bell?
The site isn’t slow for me. Works as well as it usually does 🙂
As for Hagel’s comments and Republicans going off message recently on Iraq… I call it “when Republicans read polls.” Some may have expressed some queasiness before re: Iraq, but the bluntness of late is because of polls. They feel freer to say how they feel or how the public wants them to feel.
I vote for classical music. I would consider forcing anybody to listen to Rush assault. Isn’t cruelty to animals a crime up there? Actually, can I change my vote to no radio at all? Let them hear the birds.
How come most of the ad links in the margins don’t generate an ID when you mouse over them? I mean the URL other links put at the bottom of the screen. Sorry to be petty, but I really don’t like clicking on a link if I don’t know where it’s going or who put it there. If there are other paranoid whackjobs like meself reading this blog, you’re missing some clicks you might otherwise get.
I suppose these are supplied from afar and you have no control, but just sayin’…
It would be of interest to know if whoever does this does it intentionally or if it’s a bug in some software. Or a failing unique to Firefox…anybody?
After all the fuss over the possibility of the EU lifting its arms embargo against China, I was surprised to see that Israel has been selling to the Chinese all along.
The Pentagon has confirmed imposing some restriction on arms sales and technology transfers to Israel …
(from Space Daily)
Apparently the main point of contention is the Harpy UAV.
Uh, oh! Another European disaster!
Formula One car racing, arguably the most popular sport in the world, just had a diaster in the USA. Blue-collar southern Republicans love NASCAR, but only a few sophisticated Democrats care about F1. To change this the F1 organization is trying to expand the market by running one race here a year, at the Indianapolis motor speedway. It was today. It was a fiasco.
The F1 rules limit tire changes. Michelin brought tires that wore out too fast (20 laps), so all the Michelin-tired cars pulled out of the race; all 14 of them, leaving only six cars in the race! The Italians and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile couldn’t agree how to change the rules so as to keep the race going, so the German Michael Schumacher got a “free” win. American fans were justifiably outraged.
“Disbelief silenced the crowd when only six cars took their places on the grid. When people realised what was happening, that silence turned to anger. Fingers were raised and boos rang out. One fan showed his displeasure by throwing a can on to the track. Before the cars had completed a lap the first of those to leave had left their seats and begun walking through the tunnel and out into the car parks.”
What does this have to do with anything? Well, basically it looks like Europeans can’t run a car racing organization any better than they can run a government. Is there something going on that makes Europeans so completely unable to reach a compromise on ANYTHING?
