The flyer linked here was created two years ago, when we saw that Bush and his cronies were using Independence Day as an opportunity to even more clearly stamp in a Pavlovian association between patriotic love of country and blind, unquestioning allegiance to the pResident and his “can’t play well with others” style of foreign policy. Demetrius and I decided we needed to come up with something to counter that, so we gathered together some quotes from our forefathers (and mothers) that better reflected the values progressives hold dear.
