The flyer linked here was created two years ago, when we saw that Bush and his cronies were using Independence Day as an opportunity to even more clearly stamp in a Pavlovian association between patriotic love of country and blind, unquestioning allegiance to the pResident and his “can’t play well with others” style of foreign policy. Demetrius and I decided we needed to come up with something to counter that, so we gathered together some quotes from our forefathers (and mothers) that better reflected the values progressives hold dear. Please feel free to print this out, if you like, and distribute at your local Independence Day festivities.
