I was looking for a “nighthawk” version of the “cafe” to drop this story into, but no dice. So, in Omirs’ Sunday Griot absence, I shall attempt my first diary.
For those of you so inclined, I humbly offer an interesting tale of Faeries, Goblins, Ogres and Trolls…below the fold…

An Historical Overview of the Whereabouts of Gnomes and Elves, Fauns and Faeries, Goblins, Ogres, Trolls and Bogies, Nymphs, Sprites and Dryads, Past and Present
by Buck Young 2004
A long, long time ago, the Earth belonged to the creatures of the wood. By creatures of the wood I mean gnomes, elves, faeries, etc. They tended it and took care of it, played in it, danced and sang in it, cared for wounded animals, worked out disputes between species, sat on mushrooms discussing matters of importance and drinking Labrador tea…What I am interested in, and what I am asking you to be interested in, is the question, “Where did all the gnomes, elves, faeries, etc. go?”
Please read it all HERE

Ha! Good stuff! I moved into town five years ago and after breaking ties with the Zen temple, I started hanging around a nearby food co-op. So THAT’S why I have so much fun there-they’re all faeries, ogres, etc.! I could write books about the amazing adventures I’ve had with them just because I wash the dishes on Friday nights. They don’t appear to mind that I’m decades older and sorta fat and funny-looking. And it’s not all just about selling organic potato chips but also the battles for our forests, making our own media, city farmers, street medics and wild bike rides late at night. They’ve captured my heart in a thousand ways.
it just looks crazy from the outside…the view from inside is perfectly normal…Ha!

Here I thought this was going to be diary about this queer boys’ commune/collective thinger I went to once in middle Tennessee for a Beltane festival…and as it turns out, it kinda was, even if not so specifically. That was a really terrific essay, thanks for posting it. It resonated very strongly for me.
Every single time I read that, I feel homesick and I cry.
Thanks very much – I loved it.
Aaaah for the simpler life, which is the greater part of me, but alas, this human life, will not let me be ; )
I love this. I’ve been spreading it here and there for a few weeks and am always delighted by the responses it engenders.
Thanks for sharing it!
I received it from a friend several months ago and have been forwarding it along. I never know how widespread things become but really thought it should be shared…it does always seem to delight people.

Wonderful story!! And it reminds me of my 12 year old nephew who has struggled a lot in his short life and just may be one of the “little people.”
