From Yahoo/Reuters via Raw Story:
President Bush on Monday called deadly bombings in London an attack against the civilized world and vowed “we will not yield.”
From Middle East Online:
Nine Iraqi bricklayers suffocated to death in police van in Baghdad. “Three other men who survived the ordeal were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment early Monday but two were later seized from their sick beds by police commandos. An oil ministry employee who was among those detained gave a news conference to recount his ordeal.”
From The News Tribune via Truthout:
Soldiers say military pushes them to discharge before medical needs are met. ” The day before his 22nd birthday, a bomb hanging from a tree along a road near Fallujah exploded above Rory Dunn’s Humvee. Dunn’s forehead was crushed from ear to ear, leaving his brain exposed. …” His mother said “the Army tried to pressure her son into accepting a discharge before he was ready.”
Got any outrages? Add them here.
I have a couple I would like to add. The first is from the BBC here about the ban on U.S. military personnel from entering London enacted Friday. Read it for a prime example of British wit the way they juxtapose this new policy with such choice Bush quotes as “In this difficult hour, the people of Great Britain can know the American people stand with you.” Sure we stand with you, Chimpy says, but we sure as hell are not going into your capital.
The second I will put as a question that I hope someone can answer. Why in the world should the U.S. be expected to pay for Sharon’s Gaza pullout, to the tune of $2.2 billion!? What’s worse, the pullout is estimated to cost only $1.7 billion. What’s the extra $500 million for? A present?
Again, why should U.S. taxpayers fund the pullout from Gaza, when Sharon and the Likud subsidized their illegal land-grab in the first place? I would prefer we tell them that, this year, you’re not getting the $2.3 billion we alredy give you every year until you pullout. That’s probably too reasonable, I suppose.
Hello to all at the BooTrib from another member of the KosDiaspora!
Scottie’s “no comment, this is an ongoing investigation and the investigators prefer we don’t talk about an ongoing question.” Gotta tell you the media in the gaggle room was in full pit bull mode. I think they have finally had enough of the bullshit being shoveled out at these press briefings.
Yeah, how about that!
Any hope, you think, that any of the reporters will double check this information with Fitzgerald’s team? Did the investigators actually instruct or advise the WH to zip up?
That was the first question I had when I heard that crap come out of Scott’s mouth. Somebody please ask Fitz this very important question. Would love for them to keep lying and then get “outed” for it huh?
PRWatch:
The Yucca Mountain Task Force, “a national lobbying group that formed this spring” to advocate for long-term nuclear waste storage at the Nevada site, is traveling to the Yucca Mountain region, “to begin building ties” there. The task force includes “state utility regulators and nuclear industry executives, including the Nuclear Energy Institute.” NEI also pays for “a consultant in Nevada, former governor Robert List.” The trip’s organizer is “the U.S. Transport Council, an organization of nuclear waste shipping firms and equipment manufacturers that plan to seek Yucca contracts.” Opposition to Yucca is strong in Nevada, but some rural officials say they need to secure “jobs and other economic benefits,” since the waste site may happen, “whether they like it or not.” Nevada’s coordinator of Yucca opposition said the task force is trying to “get the local governments pumped up” and “show the project is not dead.”
Go read Steve D’s diary about Leonard Clark’s last voicemail over at Kos. He has been arrested for campaigning while on duty? What crock of crap!

Mine is a personal outrage. I moved into an apartment six weeks and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was here. I should’ve known that it wouldn’t last. Apparently the unit next to mine as well as right above was empty at the time. Since then two sets of Neighbors from Hell have moved in and are really pissing me off with their screaming and banging (on the walls) π
Other outrages? The fact that the Hillary Clinton comment about MAD Bush is the lede story on MSNBC’s U.S. News section. I guess they couldn’t help themselves…
Lastly, two words: Tucker Carlson
Can you kindly ask your neighbors to speak more softly? It’s really sad that your walls aren’t thick enough.
I’m pretty sure they have hostile personalities, I’ve already heard screaming and throwing of breakable items. I will probably end up calling the police before knocking on their door with a basket of fruit. π How are you doing Susan?
It’s really important you talk to them first. If you call the police, they’ll feel like you’re out to get them in trouble with the police and the landlord. But if you try to work it out directly, you may create a pleasant situation.
I’m okay… tired tonight π Going to watch some mindless TV… hope I can find some.
Mindless tv? Well that is one thing one can count on these days. Night night you hard worker bee you! Sweet dreams, hopefully they will be of Rove in handcuffs turning on the Preznit…lol!
Manny…as an apartment complex resident manager, the first place you should go is to the tenant in a very nice way. Something along the lines of Gee, these walls are so thin here. You folks might not realize how I can hear everything. Would you mind trying to tone it down? If that doesn’t work put your compalint in writing and talk to the manager. The manager must enforce any “quiet hour” rules which most tenants have to sign and agree to adhere to. Not sure on AZ tenant/lanlord codes but here in CA every tenant has the “right to quiet enjoyment” no ifs ands or buts about it. I strongly suggest everything you do be put in writing. Good luck.
heheh, so much for a thread about political outrage π
No worries, I’ll address it with them first, I’m sure it won’t be long now before the next “episode”.
Mindless TV Susan? I suggest UFO files on the History Channel. It’s doing the trick for me right now. heh
You might want to address it with them when things are quiet and they’re not in the throes of another battle…just a thought.
Here’s a solution that works:
Make brownies (no nuts!) with your choice of soporific, pharm or natural. Knock on their door and say hey I’ve got some extra brownies I made for an office party, church picnic, whatever.
Enjoy the silence π
Pax
with the special benedryl night night to all my gifted creative energetic curtain climbers elixir.
Benedryl knocks me out completely. I always found humor in the fact that it was allergy medication because it cures so much more–insomnia, hyperness, etc. π
Funny how mom’s figured that out before it was even common knowledge. I use it sometimes to sleep now without someone slipping it to me. Hitting my forties and the insomnia that sometimes goes with that.
This suggestion works in many ways, because if I decide to eat the brownies myself then I still won’t have to hear them; I’ll be the one in a chocolate-heaven induced slumber. I like your mode of thinking soj π
How about Bush’s patently offensive comment that we’re fightin ’em over there so we don’t have to fight ’em over here.
So what are the Iraqi’s? Human shields for Americans?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Robert Earl, who destroyed national security documents during the 1980s
Iran-Contra scandal, is working as chief of staff to acting Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England, the
Pentagon said on Monday.
Earl destroyed and stole national security documents while working for Lt. Col. Oliver North during a secret arms deal with Iran in which the United States passed money from those weapons sales to Contra guerrillas in Nicaragua, according to a report to Congress by independent counsel Lawrence Walsh.
This guy is again working with the exact type of documents he stole and destroyed for Ollie North in the 80’s. When Bush came into power all kind of thieves, liars and treasonous bastards lined up for government jobs… and got them.

Outrages? You want outrages?
The Supreme Court’s decision in Bush v. Gore, 2000.
A MUST watch. Media Matters compiled a bunch of clips of Fox news regarding the London bombings: In Quicktime, In Windows Media.
Brit Hume (segment):
Deano, you should diary this! It’d be fun and more people would see it!
ok ok, on it! If it isn’t up soon, I have fallen asleep on my keyboard. π
I saw BH bringing up the market in the same sentence
as the bombing. To tell the truth, I could not believe
my ears, I wanted to rewind to be sure of what I had
just heard.
susanhu’s outrage is doubly outrageous- Iraqi (mesopotamian) brickmakers INVENTED the civilized world – cities of brick and writing on bricks
n/t
Junior Caligula wouldn’t know civilized if it staring him right in the face.

Outrage isn’t a strong enough word.
Rumsfeld: “You can’t always go with the Army you want. You have to go with the Army you’ve got.” Asshole!
White Man’s Burden, anyone?
How many dolts in this country really believe that we’re the apex of civilization and understand NOTHING of the history of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia in shaping world history?
I thought the way this NYT article discussed the search for the origin of what is now known to be industrial/military grade high-explosive used in London, without mentioning Al QaaQaa and the missing 380 tons of industrial/military grade high-explosives.
I was so outraged, I made a diary!
I’m so angry that money I pay into the system helps support traitors like this.
Karl gives new meaning to Reagan’s phrase “Welfare Queen.”
Ha! Good one!
I have been in such a state of outrage for so long that when the press beat up on Scotty a little bit yesterday it is like someone has given me a sedative today, or I’m sitting on the beach with an umbrella drink. If they kick him around a little more real soon I might take a nap or something.
