I loved the negative press on Rove so much that I headed right down to the corner store to get an actual hardcopy of the SF Comicle, the one with Rove’s face taking up a goodly portion of the front page above the fold, his head held high (by the way, it’s held high so as to attempt to hide the double chin – don’t ask how I know). But as I was walking I had this sinking feeling…

The public loves narrative. A narrative allows people to be able to understand information, its context, and its likely outcome. Emphasis on “likely outcome.”
We started the narrative.
“Rove, evil genius, steals 2000 election”
“Rove, evil genius, steals 2002 election”
“Rove, evil genius, steals 2004 election”
Now Rove is at the center of the press coverage of the Plame outing. As well he should be. But, how will the narrative conclude?
There is only one relatively good outcome that the Bush-masters can look forward to:
It was Rove
It was only Rove
It was nothing but Rove
So help us God.
Rove goes, BushCorp stays, and nothing changes. Let’s not let this happen.
Please, repeat after me:
It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up
It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up
It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up
Now I feel better. I think.
smart or funny then people would pet me and give me things to eat! Baaaaaaaaa.
Hey Mark,
Good Point. We must hold the administration accountable, not their chosen fallguy, whether it be Rove or someone else.
Unfortunately, our corruptible Congressmen are already appealing for a Rove focused action, not holding the larger Administration responsible.
How is Juan Cole treating you these days? It may be time for a further discussion of the UN Option.
I just posted this at my blog a few minutes ago:
(RECOMMENDED!)
I have that same feeling Mark, but I am encouraged by the numbers of newspaper reports that go into detail about the lies that have been told by Bush Scotty et al since the Plame affair began. Could it be that the country’s reporters are sensing their chance for revenge and perhaps redemption after the abject humiliation they have suffered under Bushco?
No, they (MSM) will continue to slavishly follow their corporate bosses dictates.
Any minorly subversive behavior on their part is mere theatre, the keeping up of appearances, designed to keep the skeptics disarmed.
They will never touch certain sacred cows, including American Militarism. The DSM and related memos have been thoroughly whitewashed in part to deflect any rational discussion on unfettered american militarism.
“An Empire, such as ours, must be allowed to wage a War before the War.”
So goes the thinking.
“An Empire, such as ours, must be allowed to wage wars of choice.”
So goes the thinking.
“An Empire, such as ours, must be allowed to grab energy resources before Russia, China, and India do.”
So goes the thinking…
There were two pundits on I believe cnn last night. One kept saying that legally there may be no recourse but politically he lied period. They other guy kept going back and repeating the talking point, Rove has not done anything illegal. Our guy kept saying the lie meme, the other side not illegal. Now to get to it’s not the crime, it’s the coverup. This goes all the way to Bush, they are joined at the hip and there is no way Bush did not know what Karl was up to. YES, this Bushco administration must ALL be held to account for outing a covert CIA agent…PERIOD!
