The Moose urges the donkey not to obsess on Karl.
Yes… that was Wittman expressing a shadow of a doubt that Karl Rove could be in fact “INNOCENT”
The point is that the Democrats can’t merely be the party of “no” – or “we hate Karl”. While we are seething with our justifiable anger, the Republican Chairman is making serious overtures to the African-American community. And what kind of effective out reach is the Democratic Party making to groups that have been estranged from the party in recent years? (THE DLC DIRECTIVES ARE AND AL FROM ARE THE FUCKING REASON WHY THESE “GROUPS” HAVE BEEN “ESTRANGED FROM THE PARTY IN RECENT YEARS” IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!)
The politics of scandal do not always pay off for the opposition party. In the 1988 campaign, Iran-contra did not doom an incumbent Veep with ties to the scandal. And Democrats actually made gains in 1998 in the midst of the Lewinsky frenzy.
Surely the donkey should be pursue Rove, but Democrats should not be consumed with him. (OH REALLY… I WONDER WHAT DOES WITTMAN, A REPUBLICAN CHRISTIAN COALITION FUNDAMENTALIST SUGGEST WE STUPID DEMOCRATS DO INSTEAD…? CONFIRM GONZALES TO THE SCOTUS, OR PERHAPS HE WOULD BE HAPPIEST IF WE JUST ALL ROLLED OVER DIED…THAT WOULD MAKE HIS LIFE MUCH EASIER THAN KEEPING UP THIS CHARADE THAT HE AND AL FROM ARE REMOTELY INTERESTED IN THE WELFARE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY)
Where does one start…?
The DLC has gone from pathetic to just downright wretched.
I just want to highlight this one gem: “Republican Chairman is making serious overtures to the African-American community”… what Wittman CONVENIENTLY forgets to mention is that the DLC has been on a ramapage since LIEberman’s Chairmanship of the DLC to distance the Democratic party from African Americans…
This is why LIEberman mentions at every opportunity that he marched with MLK…
Now the DLC assholes have the gall to start wimpering about GOP overtures to African Americans… that is not what they were saying last year when they told everyone to shut up and fall in line… there were even a few chuckles over the fact that African Americans had “no place else to go”…
Why we are listening to these fools who have shown nothing but contempt for Democrats and the Democratic base is beyond me?
So forgive me if I don’t swallow this new DLC directive to… “Be nice to Rove” just like I didn’t swallow the last one that somehow caving in on the filibuster was “A Good Thing”…
Well said.
I tried reading Wittman’s BullMoose, but I find his ‘the Moose’ and ‘the Donkey’ locutions too too twee to stomach.
I really think guys like him want to use the Dems to assist them in ousting the radical right they ALLOWED to take over their party. Once this deed is accomplished, the Bull Mooses will turn around and kick their Dem allies in the teeth.
agreed.
Let see if LIEberman will come to Rove’s rescue so far the marjority of DC Dem have been toooooo quiet.
I think the Dems spoke eloquently with their amendment to strip security clearance from leakers like Rove. Even Lieberman voted for that.
Now, I think they should be quiet. The Rs are twisting in the wind over this and I say let them out there on their own.
IMO, the Dems should only respond when asked, and then in a subdued manner, pointing out that they tried everything that’s within their power to address the issue (Waxman’s letters, the failed amendment) and it’s really up to the Rs to do what’s right.
Position for 2006 — when the Rs have all the power, stuff like this happens and there are no consequences. Gotta have more Dems to keep them honest.
it’s really up to the Rs to do what’s right.
yeah right… that will be a col day in hell
…that dog don’t bite
Yeah BUT. Voters will see what happens when we just sit back and wait for the Rs to do what’s right.
I get your point and you could well be correct in this instance.
Not that the Rs will stop crying “partisan politics!” now matter what the Dems do, but in the conspicuous absence of Dems on the nightly news, voters will come to the correct conclusion.
Remember that the Ds weren’t all out in force defending Clinton during the Monica affair, yet public opinion was solidly on his side.
I dunno. Just kicking some thoughts around.
