That famous question posed by Senator Baker at the Ervin Committee during the Watergate inquiry may very well be appropriate in setting the stage for the current scandal on the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity.
To me, the chronology would begin with Ambassador Wilson’s op-ed column in the NYT debunking the Niger Yellowcake story that was promoted by Cheney.Being a man of extreme vindictiveness and a man convinced of his own magnificence, Cheney did not take too lightly to being branded a liar by Wilson.With his usual savagery, he set out to destroy the man who stood up to the thug.That was the source of all the leaks that has percolated from Cheney’s office through Libby and the White House through Rove.
