Roe isn’t the only thing the patriarchy wants. They want Griswold too.
Here’s Santorum espousing his views on birth control.
Short version: they want to reframe birth control as baby pesticides.
Jane Crow baby.

I saw the link at Eschaton to Santorum Exposed
it’s scary. these wingnuts want every woman married to a man, under her husband’s domain, and so worn out from 12 pregnancies that she doesn’t have the energy to do more than submit.
Scares me to think what they’ll want to do to those rebels that are perfectly happy without a husband…
Somehow, I just don’t think Santorum’s message will play well to 70% or so of the population (I’m thinking wingnuts make up about 30%). Of course, that won’t stop him…
WOOHOOO -rebels without a husband !! I like it!
Hmmm…that would make an interesting photoshop project, wouldn’t it?
Maybe with pitchforks in hand??
I’ve had another thought about this recently…how do you think the pharmaceutical industry is going to feel about Rick’s statements regarding birth control? I mean, this is a multibillion dollar industry for them I’m sure.
And who will pay the high costs of all these unwanted pregnancies? From http://www.contraceptiononline.org:
Notably, those numbers relate to birth control being accessible and legal. We are heading for modern serfdom if Griswold goes away…but I just don’t see big Pharma letting this go easily.
great points. fact is the the better half of the rethugs want nothing but money.
i DONT MIND PAYING for reproductive freedom!!!!!!
WHY DONT THEY GET THAT?
or do they?
as a comment in women in all her aspects: military
My wife is one of the strongest women or human beings I know. She stands up for what she believes, she has integrity, honesty, a value system that I can only hope that I live up to, with her and a loving kind giving heart.
Wimps like Santorum and his ilk, can’t stand up to a strong women, they scare them, so they need to make sure they don’t have to face a woman who is stronger than themselves.
I have been honored and feel privileged to be married to my wife, she is a Reike Master healer, a Witch who is of the utmost living being of integrity and truth, who gives me so much more than I can ever give her. Though she did say helping her have our two children is the greatest gift I will ever bestow upon her.
I salute all of you ladies, those that served and those that did not, for you are indeed the very fabric of our society, clearly demonstrated by the failure of the right wing women to work to mitigate the damage done by their overbearing, pompous and imbecilic men.
I will with every fiber of my being and if it takes my last breath, fight to preserve and bring forth the full measures instilling into women’s lives the rights that you are entitled too under our constitution.
thank you for your respect ghostdancers way,we all need that, don’t we?
I often think that if it hadn’t been for industrial society, there would be alot more respect for everyone. But, I cannot say, because that is the only thing I have ever known.
While we fight this… I suggest that we stock up.
I don’t bode well with BCPS anymore. They screw up my system terribly nowadays. I call em the “anti-horny” pills. Plus, I get unltra emotional.
Aa woman should be able to PROTECT herself from pregnancy.
Why arent these yahoos screaming about when a guy jerks off in the shower. Isn’t the SPERM just as valuable??
None of it is anyone’s business. It’s all about denying people the right to make decisions for themselves.
Hell these bastards get bent over what books we read…
bc pills made me a crazy person–so I refused to take em.I was adamant, if you want sex then you deal with it, cause I won’t. And never mind that ‘raincoat excuse ‘ either.
Just my o2.$
Having used the condoms for a while – I can say they DO break. Thank gawd for the preven and a wonderful OB-GYN who (I used to see and knew my health background) I was able to call up and get some help from when we didn’t have insurance who called in a script and a wonderful older man who owned a small pharmacy who quickly filled it. He even talked so kindly to me.
The OB-GYN had warned me that some of the pharmacies may not fill it and that the clock was ticking. He knew the danger I was in health-wise AND government wise. This was a year ago.
I worry it’s going to get worse for other women.
I have thought seriously about stocking up and dispensing them
Why do the Right think BCPs are just for young, single people??
Why are they so – do as I say and not as I do? Were they all virgins before they married? Maybe they can’t control their own kids and themselves so they must try to control everyone else.
I am married and used BCPs for several years because to get pregnant again (long story short) will kill me.
I was wondering that too. And wondering why Rick seems to think anyone who has sex for, Gawd forbid, any reason other than procreation is “irresponsible”. And why he thinks people will appreciate (or even want to hear about!) his point of view?
A punitive lot, those right wingers are.
Most likely sex sucks for him because he sucks at it
🙂
I was wondering that too. And wondering why Rick seems to think anyone who has sex for, Gawd forbid, any reason other than procreation is “irresponsible”.
Mr Santorum’s focus is entirely on women and controlling women. Thus in his fundie fantasy and despite the lack of any historical precedent if the consequences of having sex are sufficiently unpleasant and draconian for us, women will be able to control both their own sexuality and that of the men in this culture.
I will note one particularly odious theme I’ve seen appearing from the bi-partisan fundie coalition dedicated to rolling back the notion that women should be able to control their reproductive lives, namely that of monsters like Santorum and exceptionally vile organizations such as ‘Feminists for Life’ and ‘Democrats for Life’ telling us what is good for women and, in the case of DFL, what will empower women. And what is good for women is inevitably something which could be the mental product of Rick Santorum, Bob Casey, the Catholic hierarchy,James Dobson, Orrin Hatch and, apparently, Hillary Clinton.
In the interests of truth I believe, at the very least we need to destroy this particularly offensive bit of propaganda. Fundamentalist Christianity and Biblical roles are not “good for women” and have never been good for women. There are a couple thousand years of historical examples refuting this; it’s a gold mine for oppo research.
And if the democratic party thinks it’s going to remain viable by limiting their ‘support of women’ by taking a brave stand on contraceptions, the use of which are supported by over 90% of the population (polling report has a poll on this) they really need to reconsider their strategy.
I get really angry about this for many reasons. Its not just married people who need birth control too. When I was 13 my menstral periods started and didn’t stop. I was eventually put in the hospital, given blood transfusions and started on BCP. I subsequently used them as a mitigation of both fibroid tumors and endometriosis. My life and health has depended on them completely irregardless of whether or not I had sex with anyone.
I support the availability of birth control for anyone of any age who needs it – but the ignorance of anyone who would say that it is harmful to women is completely astounding!!!
I was 14. I was super skinny and having some problems with my menstrual cycle – docs said BCPs would help get my cycle started and remain on a schedule – it also eased on the cramps.
I especially liked the part where he said that birth control allows “us” and by “us” he means women, to do whatever we want without any of the consequences.
I imagine that means that when he and his kids go for a ride in the car none of them wear seatbelts.
Probably when they go boating none of them wear a flotation vest.
And I’m sure when his kids ride their bikes, he won’t allow them to wear helmets. We wouldn’t want them to avoid the consequences of their wanton, bike-riding behavior.
I LOVE how you think!! This is wonderful.

What an odious man … good thing the Democrats are promoting a …
… odious man like Casey to run against him.
Go Chuck!
Yeah, Santorum’s such a creep, you’d think the Dems would want to back someone with some human warmth and plenty of true points of differentiation from Santorum…
Instead, they’ve anointed yet another stiff wooden candidate, and this time they’ve cut out the major differences from the Repub candidate. What do you talk about when both candidates are anti-choice, anti-stem cell research, anti-gay marriage, pro-gun? Hope that labor vote is HUGE, and that women are thrilled about Casey’s Title X stance, guys.
I really like Chuck-he’s getting my vote in the primary.
