I hope none of you missed Soj’s briefing on the House of Saud.
On a more urgent level, if anyone has any information on turnout in the OH-2 special election, post it here.

My job is good but I won’t say where it is, here on the front page. I am at work you know! The big news is…
I got my BooMug and BooShirt! And colleagues are clamoring to know what the frog is all about.
awesome. Which shirt did you get? How’s it look?
I got the grey. I like the color, and the transfer looks great. Haven’t tried it on yet — I’ve got to give a presentation in an hour so I’m not wearing my usual jeans.
the grey is more popular. Does anyone have the white?
Can I take a guess that you work at a library?
Yes I do work in a library! I’m named after this Library Lil. (And I’m not the Library Lil with the blog at Diaryland.) But <whispers> my real name isn’t Lil.
the transfer looks great… I think I should say, the silk screen.
My mug and shirt arrived yesterday, too. I’m also very happy. My teenage son wants to wear the shirt to high school, but is concerned about getting mugged by Bushistas. (He collected grief last year for his Kerry shirt…)
My job is OK and ties in with my environmental beliefs, but not as directly as past jobs did.
Thanks for the reminder! I ordered my shirt and mug today! I can’t wait to see them.
I’m pouting…still waiting for my shirt…maybe today. Teepad says they shipped it mmmmmmmm I think that was Thursday.
I am so wanting to know if any numbers are coming in from Ohio yet too. It is only three there so I doubt it. Anyone?
I was beginning to despair that my Boothings would ever arrive, Leezy. You will be happy with them.
I love mine…. the mug is a great size … I pop it in the microwave for 3-1/2 minutes to heat water for tea, and it does just fine! The tee is darling…
I just checked the mail…still not here. I did order the gal’s tee. Maybe tomorrow 🙁
Seven US marines killed in Iraq
Seven US Marines have been killed in western Iraq, the US military said on Tuesday. The troops were killed on Monday near Haditha, a town on the Euphrates river 200 km (120 miles) northwest of Baghdad, said Lieutenant Colonel Steve Boylan, a US military spokesman. …
Al Jazeera
two years and three months after “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” and their deaths are passing practically unacknowledged.
To be fair, it is a minor headline on the main page of the NYT site.
I don’t have any info, but bonddad just posted this diary over at dKos (don’t know if it will be xposted here) with a bunch of links to various news organizations in OH-2. I couldn’t find any exit polls/preliminary results.
they were expecting between 20%-25% and they stated that would be a big turn out for an election like this.
Oh no! I’m the only person who voted that my job is my life’s calling!
No you aren’t! So did I!
is that my wife will get her big promotion, I can work part time and do my lifes calling, raising my two children, making sure I am there for them.
Great Spirit willing and I don’t do something uselessly stupid, like take a drink and I can have that dream realized.
And no I am not thinking of taking a drink, it joke with me now, like this one..
Some asks me if I want a drink, I say no, I have an allergy to alcohol… They say really wow that is interesting. I say yes I break out in Handcuffs, jails and Institutions when I drink….lmao
is my friend, preview is my friend.
Where’s the choice for “My work is my life’s calling and sometimes I wish I hadn’t answered the phone”?
asking if there were any exit polling information available.
Hopefully someone will respond, I called their phone number, answering machine so far, will try again later.

I’m neeeeerrrrrvous. Al Franken was talking about it this morning and they think the low turnout will help Hackett, as well as the 11-way primary battle for the GOP candidacy.
some conservative tax group that is pushing republicans to stay home, thinking it will be easier to defeat hackett in 2006, than an entrenched republican tax and spend neo con.
I just received an incredibly offensive joke from an old friend. I have repeatedly told him not to send me his GOP bullshit, and often send him responses that totally debunk whatever ludicrous anti-democrat stuff he sends out. I am so pissed about this one, though I wanted to vent a little before responding to him so I don’t say something really nasty. So here is the “joke”:
This is what I’m thinking about sending my friend as a response:
What do you think?
it to them and let them know real Democrats know how to defend a country, not how to eliminate the rights of the citizens of that country.
I need to make sure the president gives me a no bid contract to insure that other terrorist in the US are executed. Say 1.5 Billion should suffice. Then I need to have six glocks gold plated to give to the Rep leadership in the House and Senate.. All this while going Bang
Another answer:
The Republican sends his children to keep the terrorist away from him…
The Republican sends the Southerner’s kids to fight.
The Republican sends other people’s children.
A republican would emulate their fearless leader, whip out a copy of My Pet Goat and read for about twenty minutes.
Turn and point the Glock at the stupid @$$hole asking the question and ask him if he’d care to repeat the question.
My reaction would be to “Blacklist” them in my spam filter w/ no reply…they’ll get the message. This person is not your friend if they have continued to interject this garbage into your life after being repeatedly requested to not to. Life’s too short to waste on a response…my $.02.
Peace
take a shower and make dinner. What should I write about this evening?
Does anyone want to host a Hackett diary for discussion as the returns come in? I think the polls close at 7:30 EDT.
Write a fun, gossipy column about the Philly blogger party you’re going to.
Aside from what they wore, drank (and how much), and said, also tell us about what people discussed most, and any interesting tidbits….
is tomorrow, and I will write it up either tomorrow night (although it may be a slurred write-up because they are offering FREE BEER), or Thursday morning.
The Seattle NPR station — kuow.org — is having a good discussion on Iraq and the constitution.
They just mentioned that termperatures in Baghdad are closing in on 120 degrees every day now. And very few people have air conditioning.
Well no wonder.
very few people have air conditioning
Did they mention why? Could it have anything to do with the fact that Baghdadis have electricity available for only small parts of the day, perhaps as little as 2-3 hours?
My job is good…
… but if anyone can offer to pay me as much, with as good or better health benefits, pension, and stability to do political work all day instead I’ll gladly consider a career switch.
My true dream job was tech support, which I was flushed out of during late 90’s efficientization. Age and outsourcing suggest that I probably won’t work again in that field.
So I’m self-employed in a hobby artsy-craftsy activity.
Take something you love to do, imagine earning a McDonalds’ income from it, with the growth potential peaking out somewhere in the Red Lobster range. Imagine the pressures of turning it into a business when you haven’t any of the background for that kind of thing. Imagine other hobbiests experiencing the same economic pressures and so coming into the business as competitors, beyond all ability of the market to support everyone. Imagine computerized and 3rd world labor coming on strong too.
There are ways to make this work, and we’re sure giving it a serious try. But it’d be better for my family and better for my country if we had an earlier, less efficient economy that leaked a lot more wealth out of the pipeline to the top.
Boeing 737 (?) passenger plane skidded off runway in Toronto … flames
Okay, I have proof that my brain has been destroyed by modern media.
On my Internet radio, I’m listening to a wonderful, literate discussion about Iraq and the constitutional problems, but on my TV — which I have at very low volume — there is a single image of a bunch of smoke over a highway (that indicates the fire from the 737).
What am I concentrating on? You guessed it…. my eyes can’t stop looking at a single boring image. Oh dear.
Luftstana 737 in flames at Pearson airport in Toronto. Skidded off the runway, 200 people on board.
Luftansa jet at Pearson, Toronto Canada airport.
Hoping emergency response saves everyone.
It might have been caused by lightning.
Wolfie says it’s an Air France jet.
lightning?! Wow … all those scout leaders … this … MOSES, stop it!
<big sigh of relief>
Thanks for the link to SOJ’s briefing on the House of Saud. That made for very interesting reading.
I have a hard time seeing Bandar Bush as anti-western.
I am deeply disturbed that his replacement is a close personal friend and old school chum of Osama bin Laden.
It is also very interesting to note that he is the only remaining associate amongst the Prince’s that was named by Zubaydah as complicit in the 9/11 attacks.
I’m not completely convinced of the Saudi conspiracy theory but I have seen nothing to rule it out or explain away the strong circumstantial evidence that not only were these Saudi’s involved but that Bush-Cheney are possibly guilty of conspiracy after the fact for letting them leave the country without being interviewed by the FBI. And if they are guilty of said conspiracy after the fact then it also woudl count as treason for aiding and abetting an enemy of the nation.
Don’t know if it is true but I’ve nothing to show me that it is not.
Reaction to the Bolton appointment…Cuts in to the news and said: He should use his Constitutional power and Resign and Go back to Texas and clear brush. He believes anything he’s told, 1,800 kids are dead. He should Resign.
I hear wheels spinning wildly.
Seems that even the use of tin-foil may not make you safe anymore…
This is awful.
I have one of those cheap Epson’s that sits on the store shelf giving the subliminal message, “Buy me, I’m cheap, but I’ll get you later on the cartridges. Hee hee.”
My brain didn’t register the last part of the message.
I turned it off, just in case.
Your cell phone definitely is…if I understand correctly, all cell phones sold in the US are now required to have GPS chips, purportedly to facilitate finding the locations of 911 callers. I do not know if this function can be turned on/off by the user, but I do know that this technology has been used in Co to track the location of persons of interest to the authorities.
Nice little homing device the cell phone…don’t leave home without it.<snark> BTW, I don’t have one, for various reasons. Privacy being a very large one.
Keep that old B&W printer running.
Peace
Just a heads up, I posted a comment with a link to the CCR blogroll over at the Gitmo diary at Kos. It’s on the recommended list, hopefully people will respond.

sorry folks, polls close at 7:30 not 7Pm EST
Job? I would like my job, if I had one.
I used to be a democrat, then my position was outsourced
Along with my job ; (
the assistant finance manager for Paul Hackett on the phone. They are really pushing the get out the vote for Paul. They are checking the voter lists of who has voted and then sending folks out to those who have not voted yet.
Her name is Cassie and she will looking in on Booman’s as I told her we were really excited about Paul’s run against the neo cons.
She sounded really upbeat and they think it will be an exciting night.
I hope they count the votes correctly and we have a big upset.
they are tracking this election very very closely. I believe I read there are no electronic voting machines in this election.
There’s no way I could have spent the evening watching the results for 02 come in–I would have made myself into a nervous wreck, so I decided why even go there. Anyway, as so many people have pointed out, going into today, this was already a victory. Winning would have been icing on the cake.
So instead I spent this evening working on the second diary in a series, after listening to some more of what I recorded at a local interfaith forum last Thursday. Click the link below if you are interested:
