One of the four frogs of the Frog Bridge
By my count, there were a little over 100 who showed up to stand on the corner across from the Frog Bridge.
More photos below the fold.

What wonderful photos! Where is Wilmantic?
Hi Susan!
It’s in the greater Pequot nation — or eastern Connecticut! 15 miles south of the University of Connecticut (UCONN); to quote the Mamet movie State and Main “Go You Huskies.”
Willimantic is home to to Eastern Connecticut University and the Frog Bridge.
Willimantic is the originator of the boombox parade for Memorial Day…(too poor to afford anything else).
My son’s a junior at UConn.
RubDMC — does that mean you are in CT also?
No, we live in Concord, Massachusetts.
But UConn (school of engineering) was Paul’s first choice, because of the campus size (big, but not overwhelming) as well as the quality of the program.
holler next time you are this way.. we are 10 minutes from campus.
or Thread City…
is home to the Frog Bridge,

of course.
Home also of the first mill to use electric lights, a thread mill…

Thanks you for this, Cho! Before you answered, I’d clicked on your diary to see if I could find out where Willmantic was, and I saw your last diary with the wonderful frog photos. I’d somehow missed it before and they were delightful!!
Izzy! You are most welcome. We are going tomorrow night to see if we can find any more.
They do a street fair every 3rd Thursday in the summer, tomorrow’s the night.
If I find any more of the painted statues, I will snap or better yet, get the SO to take some photos to share here at Booman!
Thanks — I’ll keep an eye out. They really are beautiful.
If we get any photos, look for them Friday!
I think I know where one more of the frogs is… so at least one more photo (I spotted it on my way in tonight!)
Cheers and thanks!
wonderful to see all those people come out in support! wouldn’t expect that in wili. my girlfriend is originally from there and oh how i love that frog bridge. a shot i took of it after christmas

we had over 350 peoople at the washington square vigil in center city philly.
Albert! So do you think it’s time we start telling them about the LilyPad??
I’ve only been there a handful of times so I can’t say I’m aware of the ‘LilyPad’ but I can say that there’s a spot on the main street with some unreal espresso based homebrew beer. Unreal.
It’s definitely a funky place…
Don’t know if you saw this earlier diary of the artist renditiions of the frog statues… we are still trying to find the rest of them.
Anyway, if you didn’t see them, here’s the link.
(and if you already have, just ignore.)
