Taft just pled no contest to charges brought yesterday. No jail time, maximum penalty on each count (total of $4000) plus court costs. Plus he has to issue a public apology and send it to all citizens of the state within 7 days.
It’ll be interesting to see fallout….
Taft was charged Wednesday with failing to report 52 gifts worth nearly $6,000, including dinners, golf games and NHL hockey tickets over four years.

Hmm, a $4000.00 fine for $6000.00 of gifts, sounds like a good deal. (and a slap on the hand.) Couldn’t each gift potentially result in a separate criminal charge? Only 4 charges here, seems a little light.
I think that there were potentially a lot of charges, but they only filed 4. I agree…but, they brought the cases they thought they could win….obviously they did. Taft did look humbled…some small consolation.
of a recall movement in Ohio? I mean, here in California, we recalled a governor for just being a boring twit, no criminal actions involved…
who knows? Ohio is such a strange place. Imagine the Governor being found guilty of fraud and refusing to step down. I think our best bet is for a sweep in the next election…
I think the CA situation involved some special state law…
