Damn scary stuff happened in Utah sunday night.
“Camouflaged troops” descended in helicopters on a Utah canyon Sunday night to bust up a permitted and insured rave party.
Seems it might have been done, because GWB was coming to town the next morning.

What the hell is happening to our country folks. It looks like Iraq in the way these kids were treated.
Here are some blogged accounts of what happened at the rave after the Gestapo arrived.

On a day to day basis, local governments have a lot bigger impact on people’s lives than Bush/Cheney and their amen chorus in Congress. Last fall I put a lot of effort into electing good guys for sheriff and county supervisor, and as a result, this kind of attack could not happen in my town. If you don’t know who your sheriff is, now is a good time to find out.
This will end up being sorted out in court. Hopefully more than one person got cameras out.
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s the drug angle they used?
(from reading the first story I saw over on DKos) the security guards at the rave were confiscating drugs from people on cars on the way into the event.
I also understand that some of these same security guards were being busted for possession.
Is this what you meant?
By the way, I think this is appalling. I’m not sure I buy the “Bush was in town” explanation, since from what I understand this happened in Utah county, the next county south from Salt Lake county. (Utah county is the home of Brigham Young University and very conservative, Salt Lake county much less so.) I don’t know what the explanation could be, but the ALCU is apparently on the case and I hope the truth comes out in court.
This was cops, mostly Sheriff’s Deputies. Sure, they were dressed like soldiers, and what with the helicopters playing at soldiers.
The militarization of domestic law enforccement is a big problem, but, from what I’;m readining on the Raver boards, it’s a big turnoff for actual soldiers to have the Utah Nazis mistaken for the military. (hell, actual Nazis may take umbrage at my associating them with this action.)
