We need to donate first to help out the Red Cross. Please match my donation of $100.
Now, this crisis is going not going away at the end of this news cycle. Katrina has left a devastation in it’s path that will take months to rebuild. Officials are now saying it could take 3 months to dry out. We have hundreds of thousands of American refugees that need our help. Okay, so let’s organize.
We need to send food, water, clothing, anything to help ease the pain these victims are going to endure. Send your thoughts on this. I am going to try to find information on who/where we can send materials. Also, I believe there is a system setup to try and get companies to match donations. See if businesses you are involved with will do that with either cash or supplies.
We can help. Let’s just do it.
From what I understand, it costs the Red Cross and other organizations that are well equipped to deal with disasters a huge amount of money, time, and resources to deal with food, clothing etc. that are sent. Their resources are much better utilized buying in bulk what they know is needed and transporting and distributing it.
It’s hard to resist the impulse to send things if you can’t afford to send money, but I think we should resist it.
Better to send money even if it’s just a little. $10? $20? if you can afford it. It adds up.
