Fun With Alternative Energy

Psst.  This diary isn’t really about alternative energy at all.  In fact, it is a covert operation designed to enlist the support of certain generous members of the community without alerting the recipient of your generosity.
Susan and I have set up a new website called The Sue and Boo Show.  If you visit the site you will see what Susan has in mind:

A way to repay my daughter …
for all she’s done for me since I became disabled, sacrificing her savings, her time, and giving copiously of her love, her caring, her generous nature. She works 50+ hours a week, too, at her job, and gives — as her boss recently told his board of directors — 150% of herself, at all times, in all ways.

She’s also been through a lot lately, thanks to family troubles and anger, in which she was in no way responsible. it’s been very, very hard on her.

And at such a young age. She turns 23 on September 26. Sometime around then — or even at any time in October — I want her to fly to Los Angeles for an extended weekend (maybe 5 days?). I have several dear friends in Los Angeles who will put her up in their nice places. She is incredibly adventurous and self-sufficient so, when they are at work, she can use the great public transportation system in L.A. and explore! She’s very good at that.

She hasn’t had a break since 2000, when she went to New York City to be a bridesmaid in her Internet friend’s wedding. She made the most of every minute. She went to all the major art museums, and visited all the major neighborhoods. She’ll do the same in L.A.

Since I am on disability, I can only give her a small amount of money. I’d like to raise enough to buy her a round-trip plane ticket to L.A., and perhaps a bit for some spending money.

THIS MUST BE SECRET. She’d kill me if she knew. BooMan set this up for me because I am too embarrassed to do it on my own.

And, important: I do not want to go. She must have this adventure free of worrying about me. She is so good about that all the time. And, I really don’t want to go anywhere until I can walk better. So, please. This is just for her 23rd birthday. And, I think it doesn’t matter the exact date she goes. Los Angeles is lovely in the fall, even through November.

Thank you.

So, if you would like to help, please visit The Sue and Boo Show and make a donation.  Thanks in advance.
