And she is way cool (especially since Enron hates her guts). “”Senator Maria Cantwell just announced on the floor of the Senate that she will vote ‘No’ on the confirmation of Judge Roberts to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.” (P.S. We need to support her in 2006.)
“Her primary concern, expressed quite eloquently, is Judge Roberts‘s refusal to disclose his views on citizens’ right to privacy. She noted that this is a particularly important issue in Washington because the right to privacy granted in Washington’s constitution is more expansive than that provided in the U.S. constitution. She further noted that the desire to maintain the right to privacy has also been expressed by Washingtonians who have twice codified in state law – once in 1970 and again in 1991 — a woman’s right to choose.” — Via Howie in Seattle
Did you see this earlier?
Just curious. I don’t think that is your district, but she’s got a good name, eh? 🙂
How cool! I don’t know much about her, but will make it a priority to find out. It was really sad that King County Sheriff Dave Reichert (of Greenriver fame) got elected when GOP powerhouse Jennifer Dunn retired from that seat.
The Democrats ran a very good candidate but a lot of local Dems were sore that their own choice didn’t make it past the primary and I think that support for the final Dem candidate was a bit tepid.
Maybe this time we can go all out and win that seat for the Democrats! Reichert will be a tough candidate because of his background as sheriff, etc. But one never knows.
Not to sound too Kos-like, but that seems like it would be a great seat to win, and that it is winnable.
From reading her diary over there, and comments, I like her. I like that she took the time (apparently) to answer these questions here.
She seems like a straight shooter, and a likable one at that.
I’m excited. I hope I can hear her speak someday soon.
She has a very clear page on how she differs from Reichert.
He’s an appealing fellow, but he’s a ‘winger.
That title gave me a good laugh!
And of course, important stuff.
We already use the spanish word for balls, how about using that other spanish word for balls: huevos – actually fits women better!
…”drawers,” too, which is what cajones means in Spanish.
cajon = coffin
actually, Bush has those.
Maybe I’ll forgive her for her vote on the bankruptcy bill, maybe.
Quibble ,quibble,quibble- I was going to play spelling sheriff but I see Mark beat me to it. 🙂
Shycat, help me … these people have got me all confused. I may just give up on that theme, and says she has guts. I know she’s got those!
So that would be, roughly, that she has huevos.
Which makes it sound like your Senator is having us all over for breakfast, which is less reality-based than your original attempt, because I feel certain that she also, somewhere, in Seattle and in DC, has drawers.
Cajon is literally box, so it’s a kind of drum as well as a set of drawers…because if you stack up a pile of boxes, it’s…storage!
One of my buddies calls me a firecracker- I kinda like that.
Cojones or huevos may not resonate outside of a certain population– which is why i like firecracker– everyone knows what that is–small, effective, loud, explosive. Course you could go all mild-mannered and use ‘feisty’. 🙂
Susan ,you are crackin me up here, lady.
