Hannity: Detroit Michigan, JR, Oscar on the Sean Hannity Show. Hello. Me: Semper Fi to the Sergeant. I spent four years in Cherry Point, North Carolina… Hannity: Yes Sir! Me: As a plane captain. Anyway, I wanted to talk about Tom Delay. He can spin all the paranoid conspiracy theories he wants about the whole world being out to get him, but we remember Tom Delay was repremanded by the Republican Ethics Committee last year and he’s got more offensive ethics charges facing him this year… And him and that Jack Abromoff character, they wuz like peas and carrots… Hannity: Hey Oscar, I don’t have a lot of time in this segment, so let’s get right to the brass tacks here… tell me specifically what he has done… in this case. Me: He funnelled money from one organization to another organization, which is the same thing drug dealers do when they launder money. Hannity: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Do you have any evidence that Tom Delay funnelled money? Me: I expect to see evidence at the trial. You don’t see that level of evidence in an indictment. Hannity: You don’t see any… You don’t have any now. You just want him to go down because you don’t like him politically, isn’t that true? Me: Was he reprimanded by the Republicans Ethics Committee last year? Hannity: (blowing a gasket) I didn’t ask that! Do you have any evidence except that you want him to go down because you disagree with him politically? Do you have any evidence whatsoever? Me: YES! Yes I do! Hannity: What? What is it? Me: His character. His character. He’s got a history and record of ethics violations. Hannity: His Character. OK. You’re a liberal. I don’t like your character. Does that mean I should go and indict you? Me: No. I don’t have a record of ethics violations either… Hannity: Do you know how idiotic you sound? Me: Does he have a record of ethics violations, Sean? Hannity: I asked you if you had any evidence and your evidence is, “Well, I don’t like his character.” You just don’t like his political views. Admit it. Me: He’s got a history of ethics violations… Why are you defending that? Hannity: I didn’t ask you that! What evidence do you have. Me: Of this particular crime? We’ll see it in court. Hannity: Nothing! Repeat after me Mr. Liberal… Nothing. Me: We’ll see it in court. Hannity: Nothing! Me: Take care Sean… I love your show.
Slightly off topic, but still connected to massive rightwing GOP criminality;
Karl Rove
Scooter Libby
Judith Miller
Patrick Fitzgerald
Velerie Plame
Joe Wilson
This cast of characters has been completely off the media radar for a long time now, but I believe the Fitzgerald Grand Jury’s term is due to expire in October so it’s likely this saga willo ramp up again in the MSM.
I’m not much for wishing or hoping generally, but in this case I certainly do hope that Fitzgerald levies a huge set of criminal indictments in this case.
The idea of Rove and DeLay sharing a cell somewhere is quite pleasing. And if Frist could join them, (and maybe even the slug Hastert, [for taking bribes from petro Arabs], it would be really great.
Almost enough to restore my faith in government and the criminal justice system.
Ask and you shall receive…Judith Miller released by her source….SCOOTER LIBBY!!!!!!! Why now? Takes the focus off Delay. There is no end to the evilness of Rove now is there?
I was amazed to hear the news a scant 45 minutes or so after I wrote the above comment.
I doubt very much Cheney or Libby or Rove give 2 shits about DeLay. I suspect a darker agenda. Possibly Libby and Rove had managed to set up unsuspecting underlings in advance to take the fall for them if things got dicey, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if something like that was behind this disclosure. Also, it’s equally possible that Libbey gave his ok for disclosure by Miller because he was trying to minimize the possibility of a more serious charge being levied against him.
My most fervent hope is that Fitzgerald will nail at least some of the big layers in this debacle, though, being a realist, I’m not going to hold my breath.
I’m worried that this whole DeLay thing is going to turn out badly for the Democrats.
DeLay is a Texas bigshot and will probably get off on a technicality, or some important witness will have a fatal car wreck, or he’ll get a suspended sentence and in six months be back in Washington. Even if he does go to jail, he’ll be back.
Meanwhile, this idea of having a local DA (grand jury, actually) issue an indictment against their own U.S. Senator seems to break with tradition. Aren’t practically all Senators exposed to cross-party prosecution?
It would be interesting to find out how many Democratic Senators have Republican DAs in their states–Republicans who might be able to pull together grand juries that can issue indictments against their own senators. I bet it’s practically every one.
To me, this has the flavor of another one of those things that sounds great in the short run but might backfire…
DeLay is a Rep. not a Senator, that means the people who put him into office do not represent very many Texans (unlike Senators who get statewide votes). The district he is from includes to the Hoity-toity area called, approrpiately enough, Sugarland, in Harris County (Houston) — so I’m not sure that this precedent is all that dangerous.
However much support he might have in Sugarland, there are plenty of people in his own district who would like tos ee him fry and there are plenty of pissed off Texans all accross the state that would love to see a smackdown of Delay for the whole assinine redistricting bullshit, so I ain’t worried.
Now, about the mysterious deaths or disappearances of various witnesses, that I wouldn’t be surprised at, especially given Abramoff’s MO — but Ronnie Earl, while a realist, is not one to back down or be intimidated.
NRO EDITOR'S NOTE:
Travis County, Texas prosecutor Ronnie Earle, the man behind Wednesday’s indictment of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on state campaign-finance charges, has also indicted several corporations in the probe. But last June, National Review’s Byron York learned that Earle offered some of those companies deals in which the charges were to be dismissed — if the corporations came up with big donations to one of Earle’s favorite causes.
Today’s Hannity call…
And you’ve got a stronger stomach than I do, to even listen much less call that helmet-haired freak… 🙂
Loved the “Semper Fi” opening…great way to put him off guard…
so fucking awesome. I love these call ins. Don’t they recognize your voice yet?
You are amazing!!!!!! Are you the same person who’d call in the Rush show?
that might be me… I call into o’Reilly, Rush and Hannity with pretty fair consistency
I bombard his sponsors with “instead of your product I’m switching to (insert product)” 🙂 I’m eveeel that way.
Kermit the Frog just text messaged me and boy is he pissed off!
🙂

Couldn’t have happened to a creepier guy.
BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

Hay BooMan, can I get that logo on a t-shirt?
since his lawyers will never let it happen… take yer pick!
there once was a man(?) named delay
who’s motto was “pay to play”
but he became too corrupt;
now a resignation abrupt
precedes him frog marching away!
