We give thanks for all who serve in community–those who make music or coffee, those who teach, who clean, who care for buildings, who work difficult and unrewarding jobs. Grant wisdom to our leaders, that all who serve may be infused with joy in their service.

Greed and injustice infect our world, our nation, and ourselves. Curb the sinful impulses that fuel desire for unjust advantage over others, and bring us under your righteous rule.

Our hearts are filled with may questions and needs for ourselves, friends, loved ones and strangers. Grant healing to all who need it in any way, especially mcjoan’s family, R., as he copes with apparent mental illness, and F., whose wife faces expensive surgery in a foreign land.

hear our prayer.

Hear our prayers for the soldiers of our country and their families. Strengthen and protect them. We remember especially the members of our own community who serve in the US Armed Forces.

hear our prayer.

Help us to make our prayers for peace more than just words. Guide all who work for peace in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, and all parts of the world experiencing unrest or war. Be with those who name themselves our enemies. Hear our prayers for their families, friends, and loved ones, and for all the innocent victims of war.
