We can’t seem to thrive without it, most of us seem to spend our lives in some sort of quest of it, and living under the trickle down of the Bush Administration has driven a few of us nuts because of the total lack of it. I speak of truth.
Many came forward to speak it about the Bush Administration. If something existed in their life though that wasn’t right up there with the claimed standards of the rightwingnutty double dog christy Christs it was jerked out of the gloam and slapped right under every photo of every single article written about them speaking the truth, or fed into the ticker tape as we watched their lips move in unison with it on television. It has allowed the truths they speak to be shrugged off because those who oppose them are BETTER PEOPLE than the truth tellers.
Cindy Sheehan is luckily a person who was really boring. She is Hetro and worked at the Health Department helping people and raised soldiers for her country who went to church. Now she spends her life spreading Peace just like Jesus. She is such a nice, decent, kind, thoughtful person she, she, she, she ought to be shot! They have one hell of a time smearing her other than her divorce, and that seems to be caused by the death of her son so that isn’t any good either damn it! Sometimes they claim that she can’t let go and move on and then they shut the hell up suddenly about that too because what baseball loving, apple pie baking, mother worth her salt just “gives up” on loving her American children forever and ever! That damn woman is a thorn, AND THEN WALKS IN IAN FISHBACK!
Who is Ian Fishback? Well, according to Andrew Sullivan he is………
Meet an American hero. He’s Army Captain Ian Fishback, a decorated graduate of West Point, and in training to become a member of the elite Special Forces. He has served two combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is described by friends as a devout Christian who prays before every meal and carries a copy of the U.S. Constitution in his pocket. And while serving at Camp Mercury near the Syrian border in Iraq, he observed horrifying abuse of prisoners, in testimony that was released last week by Human Rights Watch.
And he also wrote a letter to Senator John McCain that said………….
While I served in the Global War on Terror, the actions and statements of my leadership led me to believe that United States policy did not require application of the Geneva Conventions in Afghanistan or Iraq. On 7 May 2004, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld’s testimony that the United States followed the Geneva Conventions in Iraq and the “spirit” of the Geneva Conventions in Afghanistan prompted me to begin an approach for clarification. For 17 months, I tried to determine what specific standards governed the treatment of detainees by consulting my chain of command through battalion commander, multiple JAG lawyers, multiple Democrat and Republican Congressmen and their aides, the Ft. Bragg Inspector General’s office, multiple government reports, the Secretary of the Army and multiple general officers, a professional interrogator at Guantanamo Bay, the deputy head of the department at West Point responsible for teaching Just War Theory and Law of Land Warfare, and numerous peers who I regard as honable and intelligent men.
As of September 25, 2005……………….
For now, Fishback has been instructed to remain at Ft. Bragg, where he must obtain a pass for any trips off the base farther than 50 miles.
Because………………
A former soldier close to Fishback, who asked not to be identified out of respect for Fishback’s own decision not to talk to the media, said Fishback “really doesn’t care what happens to him.”
“He wants to stay in the Army. But he also says, ‘This is bigger than me. I’ve got to do the right thing here.’ “
And according to the rules of rightwingnut double dog christy Christ engagement all this adds up to Ian Fishback being a source of PERFECT TRUTH and dangerous as hell!
P.S. Sorry about all that double dog christy Christ stuff. I just love it though. It’s better than the “F” word right now!
There is a scene where Dustin Hoffman hurriedly sums up the story to Cuba Gooding, Jr.: that the army is going to firebomb the little town to protect their bioweapon.
“NO” screams Cuba, yanking the commandeered helicopter up and out to stop the bombers, which they do, and then Morgan Freeman grows a conscience and Donald Sutherland is marched off to jail at gunpoint.
Unfortunately, in real life, Morgan has Resolve and Donald Sutherland gets promoted.
The movie was made ten years ago, but if you watch it today, there is something about Cuba’s “NO” that you wish were an airborne communicable disease that would become a pandemic in the military and be impossible to contain.
Tracy, we all want to revolve our lives around the truth. This is what makes our lives worth anything. This young man is worthy of his upbringing. He is a standard that we all need to be in our military. The leadership of our military of today is the likes of someone who is criminal. Look at the man we call rummy and his followers. They are the standard of today. anything that is not with that standard is not to be had by this DOD. It is criminal, for sure! I hope he stands his ground and not let this get him caught up into the likes of what this administration can do to our best of the best. Thank you, Dear Heart. Hugs…I know this means a lot to you..as well for me.
