do you get the shakes when you lose your internet connection?
do you hit the refresh button like a feening mouse?
do images of skulking trolls haunt your dreams?
do you hit the refresh button like a feening mouse?
do images of skulking trolls haunt your dreams?
if so, you may be suffering from
Accute Boo Blogitis Syndrome
symptoms may include:
- violent, PISSy urges to catch frogs and handcuff them
- overloaded email inbox from online petition requests and ATM transaction requests from congress critters
- repeated references to your elected officials as congress critters
- usage of terms AFAIK, IOKIYAR, IANAL, IIRC, or IMHO
- emailed jokes that are littered with HTML links to provide sourcing
- instant rage while watching cable news networks (excluding Keith O, of course)
- unsatisfied craving for cheesecake
- a perceived reality where Primordial Ooze is no longer goo and spiderleaf is neither spider nor leaf
- naming pets after government officials or political heroes
- an attitude where snark is more than a mood, it’s an art and a lifestyle
What other symptoms are you experiencing?
to Spike who celebrates the 200th Cartoon in the Political Animal series.
Congrats Spike!
Thanks, Man Eegee! I appreciate it very much.
All 200 are in my archive, for anyone who cares to look.

I just noticed that my Harriet Miers cartoon from last week has turned up on a right-wing blog. Usually, that means I get a lot of hate mail, but this time my inbox is strangely empty. They really must not like her.
By the way, the right wing site in question is Patterico. Has anyone ever heard of him before? It’s the first time I’ve ever run across his blog.
Some stuff you may have missed yesterday:
Feel free to add your recommendations as a reply to this comment. These were a few that I pulled out from the recent diary list that had a few comments.
This is a great idea. Really appreciate it Man E.
Good morning!
Thanks for the wonderfully creative intro, and all the great links! Well done, and much appreciated!
Wishing everyone a day filled with indictments and joy! (In that order, of course ;^)
there’s also this one about bloomberg’s vile racism that’s worth a look see, by mole333
Morning! Good morning!
I slept in a bit this morning, so I can’t stay long.
But, I love the Cafe today — It looks fun.
Thanks Manny for opening the Cafe before I leave for work. Major case of PISS here! I have a feeling of uneasy giddiness – something’s gonna happen. More and more people are talking about it including TV news (which is shocking in itself). I’m still not wholly convinced it will be as good as I want it to be. We’ve been stung before. We’ll see – soon I hope.
Two fall flower photos I took the other day:
(See large for best view.)
And close up:
(See large for best view.)
Have a good day everyone. :0)
And of couse, we’re all going to be suffering from the worst symptoms of PISS this week: constant refreshing of the webpage to see if the indictments are in yet…
on Americablog this morning, “They have got a senior cooperating witness”, sent thrill chills all through me.
Hiya CG!
mmm…that just fills me with warm fuzzy endorphins…
Olivia, these shots are magnificent!!! I adore close ups of our world. They reveal layers of complexity that never ceases to fascinate me. Set any 10 Froggy Photogs on the same subject and you’ll see 10 different approaches, from standing back taking panoramas to laying on the ground with the camera almost touching the subject.
It also fascinates me that there are similiar patterns to our approaches to news stories. THAT is probably the thing that makes blogging so addictive for me. Exposure to all those different ways of seeing a thing increases everyones understanding of that thing. OOOooo too early for such deep thoughts. More coffee now.
Nag – what a lovely, creative expression of your thoughts. A friend of mine is currently working on an essay for a Communications class. The subject at hand is: How technology influences the way you view nature. You provided some wonderful verbiage above, and I hope you don’t mind that I shared it.
Good day!
Gee, thanks for the kind words, Anomalous. The fact that you shared my words is a huge compliment. The PhotoFair made me realize how much our little community has come to mean to me… in more ways than I knew. (plus, Olivia’s photos are just awe inspiring.)
Great insight Nag, and you’ve explained it well. That is how we learn, from listening to those who see things differently and applying it to our worldview etc. And we surely get that on blogs, don’t we?
Oh Olivia!! You’ve done it again. These are exquisite! And not only beautiful…the second one could/should be used in a horticulture textbook as an example of what the true flower looks like. Awesome!
Thank you for taking the time to share your flora – you never fail to kick-start my day with a “Wow!” (or two).
You have an incredible eye for photography – coupled with an amazing garden. Thank you for sharing your talents and the beauty of your surroundings.
Good day!
The kind words are truly appreciated. (((hugs)))
Back atcha ((((hugs))))
It takes so little to set a beautiful tone to someone’s day. A picture here, a comment there. And poof! The stage is set. . .
Amazing shots, olivia! Wow, just wow.
Manny! :o)
PS. The Dynamic Minimal viewing rocks! Thanks again for the great tip.
The news is full of a “terrorist threat” on the Baltimore tunnels…
Was going to take a cleaning break and go out and play, but I think I’ll hang local and keep an eye/ear out on the news… 😉
Stay saf; keep us posted.
Morning folks! Up early to take my friend that has been visiting to the airport. My symptom is high blood pressure, bouts of ranting uncontrollably, taking trips to god forsaken Texas(sorry Texans)and sleeping in ant filled ditches. It’s all good(except for the blood pressure)…lol.Feeling rather optimistic after reading that Fitz just MAY be going after Cheney. Can’t wait for the announcemet hopefully this week. We have all waited so long for this. PLEASE let this be it….I have the marching band all lined up!
I’ve got my alto saxophone ready to go for the march. Anyone else play musical instruments?
Drum some.
Ah Manny, following in the “family footsteps” eh? I used to play alto sax from grade school through High school. Haven’t attempted in years and we know I have no armature left. . .but the Kazoo is my next best choice, and I am a Kazoo virtuoso!
I provide my own amplification, and I can march & play at the same time!
Other symptoms:
* I find myself explaining to my cats why they have to wait 10 more minutes for dinner while I post ‘just one more’ comment.
* My friends just mention trigger words like “Republican” or “Bush”, sit back, smile, and glance in my direction, waiting for the floor show.
* I turn on my laptop in the morning BEFORE I turn on the coffeemaker.
* When the phone repair man was here the other day I followed him around like a puppy asking over and over “So when do you think that fiber optic cable will be installed so I can get DSL?”
Manee, this is fun. Blogging is truely a happy addiction. And so in Froggy Bottom!!! Happy Tuesday, everybody.
The laptop went on before the coffeemaker for me this morning! It’s the first appliance on in the a.m., and the last off in the p.m.!
My morning:
5:30, turn on heat, let dogs out.
5:32, tap computer keyboard, refresh BooMan Tribune…
6:00, brew coffee.
Nag, there you go with that intuitive ESP thing. . .ALL 4 are exactly me. . .especially the phone guy. And I never thought I would see the day I would turn anything on before the coffeemaker!!!!
The cats have taken to crawling on my lap and even lying across the keyboard to suggest how dire their need for food is. . .LOL
My symptoms:
Waiting expectantly for my family and friends to rate my spoken comments…..”what, no four?”
Just one more comment before I go to the gym. Or clean the house. Or make dinner. Or groom myself. Just….one….more.
Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.
Laughing unexpectedly at work!
Desperately looking for the “rate-button” when reading on-line newspaper articles. Not to mention LTEs.
does it say something about me that I read the title as “Bullshit Edition” and immediately had to click through?
and if we’re talking about acronym’s… I prefer the IMNSHO… because of course my opinion is not so humble….
damn Man E, you weren’t supposed to let my secret out of the bag… Attention all members of the blogosphere! Kindly disregard the misdirection perpetrated by our dear Man Eegee… spiderleaf is ABSOLUTELY a spider and a leaf… she’s a new breed of spider sent to snark her way into the WH (although I’m still waiting patiently for that SCOTUS nomination… ummm Karl, my cell is fully charged, feel free to call when you get out of the GJ room…).
On second thought… nothing to see here, move along.
Good morning all,
Booman’s story last week prompted me to check Drinking Liberally’s pages again. Lo and behold, a chapter has recently opened in my locality – less than a block from where I live!
Heading for my first local DL-meeting this evening. Cheers.
Our local group meets on Thursday evenings, I’m hoping to make it this week for the first time (with BooShirt proudly displayed, of course)
Salud!
My main symptom is my inability to do any straightening around the house during my precious 2 hour Andrew napping window. I don’t even nap during that time. Not that I am posting a lot. That just takes too long. I usually just lurk while the baby is sleeping
I thought you might be interested in this follow-up story if you hadn’t seen it already.
Thanks for the up-date.
I want to tell you that I have been chatting online going on now for several years. Not till late last year did I do what is called blogging.
Political blogging is what I call it. I ran across kos quite by accident. Which of course, delivered me here to the pond and I sat up my own lily pad to “blog/chat” from.
I can honestly tell you guys, This is without a doubt the best of all sites IMHO. I want to tell you all how wonderful you all are. You are smart and intelligent and you root out the sources and articles that we all need to see and review. I love this for I simply do not have the time to do such for myself. I send you all a great big thank you for this.
I am so proud of Booman and his group of ppl here. Not only, the only standard of not being a prick, we all seem to get the standards of cooperation and congenial. This is a rare combination for ppl to get along that I see we all give to this site.
I just want to say Good Morning with coffee in hand and how I care for you all. Keep up your good work, my Friends……Hugs
AWWW Brenda-(sniffle)
and didn’t go insane or moderately nuts…didn’t twitch, didn’t get pissy, read a great book by Alistair McLean, took hikes…
So for those of us with some inner shut down mechanism…here’s your zen picture of the day…autumn leaves at Mt. Lassen CA….
And for those that want the full size thing….link here…Mt.Lassen October Leaves
awesome!!!!!!!!!
Morning, ManE and fellow refreshers!
Okay, I give, what’s IANAL?
I am not a liar?
I am not a loser?
Ionesco ate nails and lived?
Independents are not all liberals?
I Am Not A Lawyer.
But what is IOKIYAR?
It’s ok if you’re a republican….
Thank you so much!!
I got about 1/3 of the way through the first one before I fell asleep with the book on my nose!
😉
You know ya’ll, I was taking a shower yesterday, washing myself up with tampopo’s lavender and rosemary stress relief body wash, and singing along to one the awesome Cracker CDs that ejmw made and sent me and was feeling very loved, very loved indeed.
I have the best blog-friends ever. I may get moody at times, but ya’ll mean the world to me, you really do — all of you.
Here’s my favorite Raymond Carver poem, from the collection A New Path to the Waterfall, written right before his death. Consider this my Tuesday morning hug to you:
Late Fragement
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
(((Brinn)))
I too, have been yakking online since– umm- 96-? YEGADS!
This is unquestionably the best place ever-biggest hearts, bestest brains, best commentary.
So there.
Hi everyone….it is still raining here, yahoooo, I am so enjoying this little interlude. Of course tree trimmer family is off work and enjoying a little break from the past few weeks/months of intense heat
Blogitist, I have symptoms of this….got so mad at Scotty last week during press con that I pounded his face with a pillow on the screen, of course nothing harder as I do not want to break my TV to spite his face.
It’s a coffee-or-tea Autumn day in Puget Sound. Good for sleeping in if you have the choice, or indoor craft work. But me, I’d give my left little finger to be shipping anchor on a 35 or 40 foot ketch and drifting up to Port Townsend en route to Victoria.
Amen to that!!
See you all after work. Glad I got to say good morning today.
Have you two met? I think you’d get along. 🙂
when we were both in computer support and the Internet was just burgeoning. Even though we sit 5′ apart, there were times that we’d email each other.
Now blog technology allows us to sit 5′ apart and use the global internet to communicate in full view.
You bet we’d get along. But there’s some kind of perverse karmic irony in my finding a wife who insists I buy her a boat to sail away on, forcing me the lifelong sailor to grit my teeth and say no, we can’t afford it.
I took the camera with me to a doctor’s appointment so I could get some current fall (or “No Fall” as I’m coming to think of it) pictures to post in the cafe.
Our driveway this morning trying to look a little bit fallish.
Gorgeous! Looks like I got me a new wallpaper, thank you very much.
I love the “blue” path, or at least it looks blue to me, as of course it would, right?
for your wallpaper? I’ll upload one if you want.
The blue path is my 1000 foot (well just a part of it is in the picture) gravel driveway. And even though it is you, the drive always has a bluish tint in the early morning shade — something to do with the reflection off the white gravel, I’d guess.
Yes, I want the bigger picture. I, too, set it as a wallpaper but it didn’t stretch well. Duh.
I love the picture because it makes me want to follow that road, even if it’s just your driveway, to wherever it leads. It seems filled with possibilities. Brings to mind a little Robert Frost poem you might have heard of.
We are Democrats, we want the BIG PICTURE! (Thank you!)
Well, some are Dems. I am, on alternate Tuesdays and every third month.
You’re cute!
What an awesome picture!
I just stole a copy for my screensaver rotations…so very peaceful and restful…it feels like I could pull up a log and have quiet cup of tea and rest all day there!
Thanks for sharing AndiF!
right after we pay for grading and new rock 😉
can I just hang out on your driveway????? Oh PLEEEEESSSSSEEEEE
This is simply so lovely….
Me too Andi. Keep it handy and you never know what you may capture. This pic is gorgeous. I hear ya about the fall – hardly any colour changes here, and now it’s wet and windy and the leaves are falling to the ground.
while we’re planning pictures, I sure hope you’re are takikng panorama shots of your entire garden. I really would love to see it.
Andi… It’s a bad time of the year for it though – everything’s brown and dying or dead! I may have to wait ’til next year. I did take some panaroma close ups of the fall mums I posted above – sort of a 360 around the flowers, then stitched them together… I’m still experimenting. (Which accounts for most of the fun, right?)
doesn’t look that good, I’m really interested in seeing how it is laid out. And I promise not to make any judgments about its real beauty until the spring.
I’ll give it a shot. (Or take one. :o)
Nope….nothing like a fresh snowfall to make me think of quiet and calm and undisturbed nature.
Geez…I really need to move back to the hills….whimpers off into a corner….
Someone who loves Mount Timpanogos isn’t going to dissuaded by my little driveway. But I gotta tell you it’s a champ when it comes to my mother, canvassers, and bible-thumpers.
You’re cute too! That’s funny.
The last time I heard that, I was five and it was my mother saying it so it doesn’t even count.
Hey. . .now you’re talking my old stomping grounds. More than one climb to the Top of Timpanogos, then sliding from the saddle down the glacier on my butt to the edge of the emerald lake. A frozen butt on a hot day is quite an interesting experience, is it not?
Such beautiful vistas there. Thanks for bringing up a wonderful memory.
not mine. She did a wonderful diary on it.
Not in the least. That looks like perfect cross-country skiing snow. I love winter.
when I need someone to shovel me out.
of the other scene andi….I have put it on my desktop as well and it’s beautiful….Too bad I don’t see my desktop more…always on the web somewhere and covering up the pics.
Very nice!
Hey guys… Just popping in quick from work. Did you see BJoe’s great news? Check it out: here.
Just a drive-by today while I do my prep for tomorrow’s class. Another beautiful fall day here on the screen porch, warmer even than yesterday. But that’s all supposed to change starting tomorrow. Fifties for the rest of the week. Next week I’ll have to decide whether it’s time to fold up the screen porch and put it in the basement. Even if I get another three weeks out of it, it’s got to come down soon.
I did make it through my five inch stack of paper yesterday. That means that I’ve now gotten through the work that had to be done a week ago, the work that had to be done yesterday, the stuff for today, and am working on tomorrow’s load. Given another week with no new family disasters and I may even be able to see the work that I want to do popping up on the distant horizon.
Today’s tea: Silver Needles, from China.
Here’s a link to the larger version. It’s 800×600 and 233Kb.
Now all I ask in return is that you all chip in for a couple of dumptruck loads of rock 😀
what’s the exchange rate between 4’s and dollars? Paging bondad!
Last time I checked two-fours were running around $25 Canadian, plus deposit, eh?
Don’t worry… Some of us will get on that case for you, and we might even figure it all out before we run out of beer.
wish that that you had a rubber stamp with “troll rating” on it, so you could stamp the forehead of the people that say those things that really piss you off?
It would be one thing that could really improve the entire world, I think?
I bet you would get a reaction if you flicked a few peas at them
Let’s replace the “flipping the bird” salute with “flipping the Zero”:
It’s actually ASL for the letter “O”, but it looks like a zero, and unless the other person knows ASL they won’t know that they’ve been insulted… 😉
We haven’t named pets after politicians but do have a goldfish named Bloggie. Yes, it’s true.
Manny, I am over here in the Idaho outback, in my humble hovel, rolling all over the floor LMAO. . .you will just have to guess how totally I mis-read this to know why I just can’t quit laughing.
I have a few ideas, lol.
[meow] 😀
LOL. . .you would be right on the first guess!
Keyboard accidentally superglued to finger.
Ouch! I am glad however that you provided your own caption because if you left it up to the crew here, my work’s webfilter may kick in. 🙂
Please unrecommend this cafe and head on over to the new one. Thank ye for a great day so far!
