Okay – these are not mine but great ideas….from a Pagan site that I spend lots of time on! Here’s to a witchy sense of humor!
Witches Hat Cookies
32 Kisses milk chocolates, unwrapped
1 package (11 1/2 ounces) fudge-striped shortbread cookies (32)
1 tube (4.25 ounces) orange or red icing
- Attach 1 milk choclate Kiss to bottom of each chocolate cookie bottom, using icing.
- Pipe icing around base of chocolate candy.
Witches Broom Cookies
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
10 pretzel rods, about 8 1/2 inches long, cut crosswise in half
2 teaspoons shortening
2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Butterscotch-flavored chips, melted
- Heat oven to 350ºF. Mix brown sugar, butter, water and vanilla in medium bowl. Stir in flour and salt. Shape dough into twenty 1 1/4-inch balls.
- Place pretzel rod halves on ungreased cookie sheet. Press ball of dough onto cut end of each pretzel rod. Press dough with fork to resemble “bristles” of broom.
- Bake about 12 minutes or until set but not brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely on wire rack, about 30 minutes.
- Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. Place brooms on waxed paper. Heat shortening and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth; remove from heat. Spoon melted chocolate over brooms, leaving about 1 inch at top of pretzel handle and bottom halves of cookie bristles uncovered. Drizzle with melted butterscotch chips. Let stand until chocolate is set.
Just for fun this week…..one for kids with a gross sense of humor….
Earwax on a Swab:
24 mini marshmallows
6 ounces butterscotch chips
TOOLS needed: scissors, 12 straws, small microwave safe bowl, waxed paper, toothpick
Snip straws into 2 1/2 inch lengths (about 24)
To form cotton swab part, firmly press a mini marshmallow onto the end of each straw piece.
Place butterscotch chips into bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir with toothpick and repeat until melted.
Dip the very end tip of each cotton swab into the melted earwax and place on the waxed paper to harden.
Have a fun time….add more recipes if you would like

One requires a little squeeze of a tube…
One requires lots more of baking / effort
One is just for laughs…and 8-10 year old boys really LOVE the gross earwax candy!
So – what have you got???
I’m on my way out the door, but these are GREAT!
Love the witches hats and you had told me about the ear wax q-tips π Will have to make those for the kid’s schools. Nice and easy since I can’t be making tons of messes which would create mess of the mess that we’re messily making π
PS, yes Wayne would love to have you up π I’ll call/email later to see if it’s still okay. Thank you xoxox
so I can trick or treat in GOP neighborhoods and scare kids and parents witless!
In my neighborhood they’d buy you really nice dinners and wine!
BTW how is your M-I-L? I unsubscribed from SF Kossacks and haven’t heard how she’s doing on relocating from New Orleans? We can email off line if you want…
She went back home. Her house is on the west bank and mostly o.k. She did a lot of murals for Harrahs and they seem to be giving “busy” work to any of their employees and contractors who are still in the area until they try and reopen.
I will email you with the more interesting info.
