I know all of you frog marchers are pink clouding lately, and of course it is all rumor and nothing solid has happened yet as I have reminded some. My mescaline arrived today though! Sorry I’ve been so hard on ya’ll. You guys have lovingly embraced me in my I HATE IRAQ AND THE WHOLE THING IS KILLING ME CRUSADE and I am forever grateful and would like to share my favorite rumor with you guys.
Sheehan said she now believes lobbying and marching in the streets is no longer enough and that “nonviolent civil disobedience is the way we have to go” to end the war.
It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas! Ummmm….errrr…. I mean Thanksgiving?????
Sheehan said she and her fellow members of Gold Star Families for Peace, along with other military families and veterans, plan to hit the road again for another speaking tour in November, caravanning from the West Coast to Crawford, Texas, where they will reprise their “Camp Casey” protest over Thanksgiving weekend and demand once again that the president meet with them to explain what noble cause their loved ones were dying for.
“We’re going to invite George and Laura–and tell Laura to bring the turkey,” the peace mom quipped.
My family has sacrificed quite a bit for my crusade. I may have to do a little bit of “selling” in order to get the privilege of getting arrested for Thanksgiving…….but I’m willing to give it a shot! I am so tickled today I could just spit! It’s my Birthday and I’m 29, pass the bong and let’s ponder things! God it’s great to be alive! God Democracy is FUCKING AWESOME……it’s still not okay to shoot me for pissing you off or causing you to have an inconvenient moment to really contemplate your actions! I AM AN UNREASONABLE WOMAN AND I AM ALIVE AND WELL!
Oh duh, I responded to your cafe comment before I read this!
Can we come bail you out?
were contemplating civil disobedience, they were extremely organized and ready for it……lawyers and all. I worried that someone would have to bail me out, but plenty of lawyers and lots of bucks behind all this now………can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a pro bono liberal/democrat/progressive/worried about the state of the nation lawyer.
Well, heck then, maybe I should get arrested with you! You comin’ Janet?
And where has Supersoling been this week? I hope everything’s okay.
I’m still here, but dealing with some pretty incredible, overwhelming shit right now. Maybe sometime soon I’ll fill you all in, but I hate whiners and wouldn’t want to hear it out of my own mouth.
So..it looks like I should start looking into flights to Texas for Thanksgiving? One good thing. At least it won’t be hot this time!
Anyway, Happy 29th ;o) Birthday Tracy. You’re aging so well :o)
And if you come to Texas with me meeting you again, I will be forced to come up there and kick your butt!!
Everyone is welcome to use my place as a home base for Thanksgiving — bring the family!
I hope everything is ok, super, I have been doing my fair share of whining these past couple months about the bankruptcy and what all (you don’t hate me, do you?! jk) — and I know what you mean about not wanting to hear it yourself, but know we are here to listen should you decide that typing it is not so bad.
Please take care of you and yours!
I’m a Single Person living in a three bedroom house – and my two living room couches are actually futons – so I’ve got lots of room to put people up. C’mon down!
Super, you know we’re all here if you need anything.
I think it’s time to plan a Bootrib action committee Thanksgiving. The Cabin people are off school that whole week…
and they think Texas sounds like a fine idea!
Plenty of room! I’d love to meet the famous Cabin Boys. (You can come too š
as it can be a more reliable method of dealing with this creeping authoritarianism. Total reliance on our normal two-party political process has as yet not proved very fruitful.

If I could hand deliver a copy of this to Cindy I would do so. I sincerely hope someone can do this.

“swing a dead cat,” even to hit a pro bono lawyer, or you’ll have Susanhu on your case! š
Bumper sticker:
WELL BEHAVED WOMEN SELDOM MAKE HISTORY
Since I can’t seem to get a single walnut or pecan out of my own yard before the some friggin squirrel runs off with it today, would ya mind too much if I swung a dead squirrel? They’re decent sized down south here, and I would say dead and stretched out by enertia it would equal about the same length as a cat. I never really have swung a dead cat though most of my elderly family members seem to have, squirrels are very tempting though today.
Squirrels, definitely. My dog would be happy to help you, as well. He lives with the happy delusion that someday he’s going to move fast enough to catch one of the little critters before it scampers up the nearest tree. Though what he’d do with it then, I don’t think he knows.
Happy Birthday! Your diary made me fucking happy too! Keep us posted.
nonviolent civil disobedience is the way we have to go
Indeed. Our elected Democrats–with a few exceptions–aren’t doing anything to stop it. Blogging about it keeps us activists in the game, but isn’t going to change much. I think the timing is right for more demonstrations, and it is the right thing to do.
(The vote on the Coburn Amendment has further convinced me that replacing bad Democrats is nearly as important as ousting the Republicans. And that Russ Feingold is a good man.)
Cindy Sheehan is a hero, and so are you, Militarytracy.
I’ll be in Kuleefarnia for Thanksgiving, and you had better bet I’m joining my friends in the Bay Area to demonstrate.
I want to make you loathe having me “there” again. I WANT MY SOLDIERS HOME NOW, YOU INSANE, NO MISSION BUT FAILURE, NO EXIT, THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT DEAD AND FRUSTRATED SCARED TO DEATH SOLDIERS DOING HORRIBLE THINGS TO OTHERS WHILE YOU DON’T CARE MOTHUFUCKERS!
You headed back my way dear?? Since we missed you in September, I think you just may need to!
Bring the family — we’ll have Thanksgiving here!
And when we bail you out (or the men bail US out), we can all be thankful together!!
lol!
Seriosly, though, think about it. You know we would love to have you and I dunno if we can wait until March!!
I agree 100% with Cindy. People marching is not working. It will take quite a bit to change things in the US and I’m glad Cindy is going the route of Ghandi… sorry I won’t be able to join you guys… as a Canuck I’d probably be arrested, charged with terrorism and shipped off to Gitmo before you could even say… hey where did spider go? š
Glad you’re in a happy mood Tracy, it’s the only way to go… if you let the anger consume you it consumes all.
cheers,
sl
well, i think they can shoot you for that in Florida, but not anywhere else. I think.
I think I may avoid Florida protests!
Avoiding Florida is a solid strategy. Those people are insane. It’s a freak show down there.
And if these strong hurricanes don’t stop we’re going to have to evacuate the entire place.
in a Blue State…….then what do we do? Close the borders?
It’s your birthday? Should I sing? Pour cosmos for everyone?
No Naked though. I’m not feeling nakedish today.
29 – is this an anniversary or the first time? ;^D
It’s wonderful to be alive and watching the ‘stuff’ starting to hit the fan on the rethugs!
Pass the bong…haven’t tried the mescaline but drugs and I don’t get along….
Shall I find some Joan Baez albums to play while we all get stoned??
but someone brought it up in one of the Plamegate diaries, said that that was how high they felt. So I thought what the hell! I’m all for the Joan Baez!
Now I have to send you one of those “sorry I’m late” cards, ya weenie!!
No, wait, I can send you and e card and it won’t be late!!
[runs off to find an appropriate electronic greeting]
Shall I find some Joan Baez albums to play while we all get stoned??
That’s my Friday night in a nutshell. Can we wait until I tuck the kid into bed?
I don’t want to corrupt the young with my lame habits. I feel that they ought to be free to pick better corruptions of their own in this free land.
Here’s to unreasonable women! Fuck reasonable, amiable, accomodating, polite, submissive, voiceless, spineless and afraid.
And lousy in bed too I hear!
lousy in bed, but not so bad on the doormat.
(there, got my pin on) š
Happy Birthday Tracy, I’m tickled PINK, too. š
Arresting Mama’s instead of Osama.
Bush is one classless piece of shit.
thing to say for every occassion! God loves a fiesty woman doesn’t he/she/it? I gotta go work on stuff now. I wanted to share the Cindy story, made me so happy that it is in the press clearly. She is so fiesty too……amazing people I have to share my life journey with – all of you!
I didn’t see this diary when I posted the massive alert links in Rub’s diary and the pond. Sorry.
I love Cindy!
I love all you unreasonable women… and MEN, too š
<<<<clearing my throat>>>>>>
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, DEAR TRACY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU…..and many many more…hugs….
Oh to be 29 again!!!!!!!!! God what a wonderful thing this would be.
I would like to be 29 again too…….oops, I am today!
Happy frickin birthdya girlfriend. WOW! You get to go to Crawford again and I get to go to Vegas and spend some quality family time with the rpub sis and other family for Turkey Day. Waaaaaaa! If I didn’t already have tickets I would go with you in a heartbeat.
get arrested twice okay? Once for you and once for me…lol!
Have a wonderful birthday Tracy, God knows you deserve it.
Hope I’m not too late for the mescaline.
On second thought, maybe I could save it until next week. Wilma’s approach doesn’t bode well for that sort of adventure.
Where are you, Alice? Will you be somewhere safe and sound this weekend (and on into next week, as now they’re saying Wilma may stick around the Yucatan longer than expected)?
I feel like I have spent the last 5 years worrying about people in the paths of various hurricanes….PLEASE stay safe and let us know if there’s anything you need!!
Well, ‘cept, I have no clue where to get quaaludes any more!
š
We’re on the FL west coast , south of Tampa, and north of where the ‘experts’ are predicting landfall. I’m sure we have no reason to panic. Most likely at worst we’ll have to endure some hot weather without a/c, I’m not counting on having electricity, so will probably not be around here for a while.
Where are you in Fla?? I have in-laws in Bonita Springs, which is in the cross hairs, I think.
Here’s my birthday “card” for you:
Very soon, “INDICTED” will be written across it in big, red letters.
Look, hubby got the Iraqi deck of 52 (not really, lots of the guys sitting in Kuwait got them and they failed to make it to many of the front lines so he had to buy a faux one from the mobile PX ha ha, hee hee, ho ho, what a stupe!) As a frogman, froggirl, frogperson commando can’t I score the whole deck? Come on girlfriend, there has got to be at least 52 scumbags in that Administration! The really big question these days is how many #2 guys are there?
29. That sounds like such a good age. And so long ago.
I pitched civil-disobedience to my anti-war group Monday. The response was mixed-to-negative. Very passive this group. The are not opposed to civil-disobedience in theory though, so with so more planning and persuasion, who knows. After the meeting I got a lot of pats on the back from potential rabble-rousers. So that was good. Just don’t have time for organinzing and shit though. Needs to happen now. What are you going to do though?
Good luck with your civil disobedience. And remember, if you’re going to do the hunger strike thing, stop when old Karen Carpenter songs start popping into your brain.
I say get everyone back to DC and let’s just walk right on in the mutha fuckin’ door.
They can’t shoot us… all
and they don’t have enough zippy ties to arrest us all.
Damnit!!!! We should have done that then!!!!!!!!!
Okay, but I want a bullet proof vest!
We’ll “swooosh” at the pigeons flocks and they’ll provide cover for us. š
My kids are really good at that…but they’ll have to stay home if we’re stormin’ the castle…
Sure we all saw them on top of the White House when we all marched. On Sunday though was when we first noticed them on top of other buildings by Camp Casey D.C. Kinda creepy!
BJoe, OT:
Can’t find your older book diary. Who is the publisher, and what is pub date? I will be visiting early next week with friends, one of whom owns a bookstore.
Publisher is AuthorHouse. Book is listed and available on Ingram’s Title Database. Just up on Amazon today. And Barnes and Noble and Borders. You have to type in title and author name in search, though. If you just type in the title, I am somewhere buried in the 30s (page 3 on my browser). Actual date it was first published is listed as September. But actual distribution has just started in October. Would love to hear from you regarding your friends take. Perhaps I could get him a promotional copy — if anything is going to sell the book, it will be my writing (and I’m not saying I’m sure that’s going to sell the book, either).
Thanks for asking. Shoot me an e-mail if you have other questions, or your friend wants a promotional copy.
Thanks. Got it.
Can’t promise anything, but I’ll pass on the info with a strong recommend.
to play. Not everybody finds the whole arrest thing palettable. Somebody has to stay on the outside to report to everybody else, keep tabs on things. Tell them all that whatever they can give in the support department is so appreciated! And shit Joe, let’s face it……..You’re a whole lot more dangerous in the courtroom and in front of the press as somebody’s lawyer than you are behind bars. Mama’s of dead soldiers, wives of messed up soldiers…….we are the ones dangerous photographed behind bars! I love you Joe. Keep up the excellent diaries and all the legal know, we need you mucho!
This is kinda of full circle comment. When all you cool boo people made it to D.C. for the protest the weekend of Sept. 24 it was my birthday(the 26th)and janet had graciously said she would take a rubbing for me on the Wall(I have a MIA bracelet with a name on it-no relation or anything-just have bracelet for support of veterans)…ok I’m getting to the point here ..anyway I get up this morning and click on your diary tracy and am reading about Cindy’s continuing protest, your birthday and more protesting and while I’m reading about all this the mail shows up…and the rubbing that was taken by you(janet had to leave sooner)came today.
Full circle because a name of someone on my bracelet who I never knew yet feel a connection to and full circle because once again we’re in a monstrously unjust and illegal war. Full circle because people are starting to protest and realize more/more how terrible war is even if justified(?). Full circle because war is once again dividing the country. Full circle because yet another administration is lying about how well war is going with another corrupt and secretive president. Terrorists are the new communists.
The name on the rubbing Tracy sent is Samuel B. Cornelius-my bracelet also says he was a Major. USAF. He died June 16th 1973 in Cambodia…full circle as it seems we are seeing bushs war seeping into Syria and probably Iran.
Almost full circle because I have another MIA bracelet from this war but one with a better ending. I received a MIA bracelet for one of the soldiers from the Jessica Lynch sage-her name was /is Shoshana N. Johnson. She was rescued. (although I’ve now read she is having trouble getting benefits).
Full circle because I have once again become increasingly sickened and feel my soul being assaulted every day when I read Iraq war news…and can’t help but think of Vietnam.
The noble cause is not fighting in Iraq but the noble cause should be to bring the troops home now-protesting is the noble cause-peace is a noble cause-not war. Seeing sons/daughters, mothers, fathers, best friends, lovers killed in an unjust war is not noble-noble is everyone who will work to see this happens to no one else.
My comments here are probably a bit scattershot but seeing that rubbing is just kinda making me ill…so I’ll end with a quote by John Kennedy: “War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today.”
On days like today can’t you vaguely hear those footsteps echoing? Kind of like how Ian Fishback says, “It is bigger than he is.” Next to Cindy he is my second hero for this date in history!
Nhat Hanh – Vietnamese monk, activist and writer. THE living embodiment of non-violent resistance, a great hero and teacher of living by principles of Buddha and Gandhi.
We are not the enemy. We are the solution.
Happy Birthday!
.

▼ ▼ ▼ MY DIARY
Glad you’re so happy,MT! We all should be encouraged by this news. And happy birtday! Hmm, I remember the first time that I was 29. I think Coolidge was in office. š
29 is a good age to get arrested!
Oh my, I haven’t seen mescaline — or any other hallucinogen — in waaaay too damn long. Have fun!
Nobody will know! We can laugh at everybody else! I wonder if Anne Coulter would do mescaline with us if we told the right lies……hmmmmm? So much life, so many possibilities!
My birthday was yesterday the 20th Tracy. I love October. I’ve been checking out the scene for 46 years. Pass me the bong and Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Salunga!
Thanks CabinGirl.
Happy birthday to you all……
My 42nd wedding anniversary was Oct. 19th.
No mescaline here but, there are ‘magic’ mushrooms in my pasture.<g>
I hope it will also be a very Merry Fitzmas next week.
Ready to sing some FitzCarols?
Civil disobedience is essential!
Being obedient to this Bush regime is the crime against the country!
Got one for a mother, a wife now, and all my lady friends were unreasonable too.
And opinionated. And worth it.
Civil disobedience is out of the question for us because we can’t afford to get in any trouble with the government at all. I did my part in the late 60’s through Watergate, including May 1970, and Puget4 who is a little older and missed that era finally got to a Martin Luther King memorial march a couple of years ago.
But here’s something–we are at a point where we need a certain type of disobedience and breaking of loyalties in high places. We need some leading figures in the economy, culture, media and civic leadership to begin saying “no more.” Some civil disobedience on the streets might yet be part of the mix that moves some decisionmakers and influencers to take the steps that change the direction of nations.
And here’s to 29. It was a rough year for me–ending with the election of Ronald Reagan–but the next year I met my best friend ever. She sits beside me now preparing a giggle for another thread.
