hop on in!
We’re all full of jitters as we wait for Fitzmas to arrive, but its just like an unfolding rosebud:
you can’t rush the opening.
It has to happen on its own; and when it does,
it’s PARTY TIME!

WOW, I had to leave the office this morning. check y’all out, partying! Sorry for the bulky diary earlier, feel free to continue your frolicking here!
it was…
girthy
🙂
I resemble that remark 😀
Wanted to say thanks again to all. I’ve been running around a bit this afternoon trying to get some 2,000th vigil things organized. But you guys are truly too cool.
Thank YOU BostonJoe, I plan to order my book on Friday when my bank account gets its biweekly replenishment. Way to organize a BooSwarm over at Kos today 🙂
BooSwarm. Ha! That was fun. I had some kind of disassociation going on. Surrounded by friends in orange borders.
tauri gets the props for bringing it to the spotlight. Perhaps we should start a ‘Bloggers without Borders’ group?
it was fun using up some o’ that orange bandwidth for free advertising!
I normally don’t laugh at my computer screen. Ductape Fatwa gets me a lot of the time. But not usually much else. But your question, posed with such a straight face, had me cracking up. It was a farce from then on. Completely thought of Bush the idiot. And couldn’t stop imagining I was he.
A good laugh. Very dead pan of you.
speaking of books I ordered this new Twain biography for the library where I work — thought you might be interested, Boston Joe.
And come payday I’m ordering Direct Actions and donating it to the library. (Since I take care of gifts there I can expedite getting it on the shelf.) Plus a copy for myself of course!
I’m looking forward to reading both of these.
Now that is a dream come true. To be mentioned in the same comment with Twain. And actually outselling him two-to-one. Not the life I imagined. 🙂
Thanks much, Lil. Please let me know what you think when you get there.
I thought you’d get a kick out of it!
Sorry I didn’t get over there earlier…
I got over there around 5:00 pm EST and it seemed like all the fun was already over… I left a comment and recommended anyways. lol

A Flame For Casey!
LEAVE … Iraq to the Iraqis

She really doesn’t photograph too well.
I had the pleasure of seeing her up close for a bit and several times on stage at the UFPJ concert. She actually has a inner glow to her.
She shines class.
.
Wears the deeply lined face of life’s sorrow and challenge.
The strength and beauty inside is visible, what else matters?

when I saw her… well maybe it was more of an “when I FELT” her. She has a serious vibe to her. It radiates beauty and class.
We are what we are. These days the struggle is as much about reality as it is about truth.
I didn’t mean it to sound harsh, truly. I guess I was wishing the camera could catch the … well there’s something about her that we all feel. I don’t think it ever can be captured by any camera.
I meant no disrespect at all. 🙂
My family has the Sox game on. I keep seeing Barbara Bush behind home plate. It’s making me so… sad and mad all at once.
Cindy is out in the rain. Hurting, mourning, TRYING and this other lady…
I guess all day today my mind has been revolving around this one mother. I go from proud, to complete sorrow in a matter of seconds.
I don’t have the words tonight, sorry.
To me she and all the others who are with her and support her are… BEYOND photography. They are a swell in your heart, the tears on your face.
Amen Janet.
Damnit. Is it just me or is this Wilma coverage getting on anyone else’s nerves??
I mean for fuck’s sake, even Lou Dobbs is yabbering on adn on and on and on about it….YES! We have weather, is anything the fuck ELSE going on?!?
I am in a shitty mood. Apologies.
I’m with you brinn, if you want some diversity in news, check out the murder-mystery du jour on MSNBC.
Oh, lord, is that the “Goth kid beats to death the defense attorney’s wife in a credit card scam”???
Last I heard, they weres ending in dogs ’cause they were looking for another suspect.
I swear, I only watch cable news 30 -40 minutes a day! 😉
You rang?? 🙂
Heee hheee hee!~ Thanks for making me giggle! Needed that!
But seriously, the last thing I saw was the “poor” stranded tourists in Cancun bitching and oaning about the inefficacy of the Mexican government and demanding the US get them home NOW!!
Give me a fucking break. Is your life in danger? No? Then fucking buck up you bunch of whiners!
Ahem. Sorry again.
Speaking of those ‘whiners’ they might wonder why people are still without water/electricity from katerina..I read an article two days ago that really made me sick. People in Biloxi are living under tarps amid the rubble of their homes and have no water/no electricity obviously, they are going to the bathroom right on the ground and FEMA hasn’t sent any trailors yet(although with out electricity/running water …). No porta potties sent for them..WTF..I actually couldn’t finish reading the article..I saved it but it’s been haunting me thinking of kids there under tarps or in tents if lucky living like animals apparently amid the stench and rubble of the devastation. 3rd world country ..oh yeah it was a poor part of Biloxi..surprise surprise that no help is on the way. This is so horribly wrong after almost 2 months…
And yeah so people on the news yammering about Wilma is pissing me off when people from Katerina are in such dire dire need. I understand the Wilma is terrible also but seeing people complaining or feeling desparate cause they are without electricity after a few days seems shitty to me.

The message “2K Why?” is intentionally oblique to make people have to think a little.
If they don’t get it now, they should soon. If not, at least we’ve made their commutes a little more surreal
Check it out!! (props to our own Jim Staro for pointing this link out to me)
I like the 2-part “The war is a lie…and you know it.”
And very clever, just bungie cording the signs to the chain link fencing…hmmm…I have 2 turnpike overpasses within a mile of my house…
Or you can duct tape bent wire coat hangers to the back of the sign. 🙂
You and that duct tape again…
When I was little… oh say around 34…. I thought it was called DUCK TAPE 🙂
Too funny. Quaaack!
One of my uncles developed ALzheimer’s, and became fixated on “fixing” everything with duct tape. His family would go around the house, the kitchn faucet, out to the car, and find bits of ductape on everything, and know that he had been there working. To this day, I always think of him when I see a roll of duct tape.
My daughter is a broke college student. She made duct tape wallets for everyone last Christmas.
It is Duck Tape . And you can learn how to make a nifty Trick or Treat bag while you’re there.
Quaaack!
Peace
when I saw that photo was: AFLAC!!!!
I’m watching waaaaay too much TV… 🙁
Clue me in cali…I’m totally stumped. Haven’t had a tv for 10 yrs. if that’s where it comes from… :{)
Peace
It’s a series of commercials for an insurance company; supposedly it’s insurance that kicks in if you get disabled and can’t work. I think it’s national, but I’m not sure.
The commercials feature people talking about the insurance, with someone asking what the name is, when this duck comes in and squawks, “AFLAC!!!” The duck is voiced by the annoyingly-voiced Gilbert Gottfried.
They’ve had some good ones though; they had one featuring Yogi Berra that even had the duck reeling at the end…
[But even more pathetic — I’ve actually been downloading songs based on hearing them in TV commercials… :(]
Got this message from someone on a LiveJournal group I belong to; anecdotal story from someone he knows with family in New Orleans.
I haven’t tried to verify this, but unfortunately, it sounds all too plausible…
Hi everyone. Don’t mind my printer. I just finished uploading my union’s triannual PAC report and now I’m printing out all 64 pages.
Is anyone going to a vigil tomorrow night. My hubby agreed to feed, bathe, and tuck in Andrew on his own, just so I can go.
tomorrow — couldn’t get over to St. Joseph’s Cathedral today, but thinking of heading up to Stanford tomorrow to find a quiet corner of MemChu (that’s Memorial Church for the Stanford-lingo deficient) where I can hang out for an hour or so. I’m going to see if I can stay on my knees for 33 minutes; that’s only 1 second per soldier killed, but don’t think my knees could handle 33 hours (1 minute per soldier). After I leave MemChu, and before I have lunch at TresU (Tressider Union), I may go over to the Rodin Sculpture Garden to view “The Gates of Hell” and imagine Bush and his cronies facing them in the Afterlife…

I can’t stand the waiting!!!
waiting for the Sox to win. I’mgetting tired of seeing that white haired old bitty behind home plate.
but I’ve been busy on the computer with the game in the background.
Okay, extra innings time… 🙁
Watching the game with my son and his buddy, who pointed out the elder Bushes to me (I hadn’t noticed).
I told them Bab’s remarks about the Katrina refugees in the Houston Astrodome. They were astounded and disgusted, and promptly said, wouldn’t it be great if a wild pitch would get away from the catcher, make it through the net and just smoke her in the head?
I know I’m supposed to be the grown-up around here, and set a good example of non-violence and all, but I’m afraid I roared with laughter.
