In the middle of this doo doo would anybody like to break up the rage with a little blogging on HBO series “ROME”?

yes
How about extending that to Commander in Chief, West Wing and Boston Legal….will be back in a bit after breakfast to add something abut Rome.
I don’t watch any of the others, so I wouldn’t be much good at it. I usually read and I adore a good movie.
Because I decided I wanted silver celtic knots at the corners of the doors. My husband thinks I’m nuts, whatever man!
Tracy, you sound llike a natural for decorative or tole painting….have you ever tried it?
I have always enjoyed painting and drawing and as the bedroom unfolds I have given some thought into decorative painting and did read a small book on it too.
Tracy I wish I was close enough to teach you tole painting…..not so hard to learn as it is all about strokes and brush loading, so just takes practice to get it right. I pretty much learned from a book, with a couple lessons at a craft store.
Sunday finally got here.
kind of fried my brain last night. The their mom gets out the bull whip…it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a parent dispense adjustments at the end of a bullwhip, it wasn’t even in this life.
That was bizarre … and the ending! Holy smoke. I need to watch it again because I was nodding off towards the end.
Ha … i was just wondering what their politics would have been like if they’d had CNN, MSNBC, and FOX news.
Caesar’s scorned mistress would have been outed by Tina Brown in the WaPo, and titillated about by Tucker Carlson, Joe Scarborough, and Rita Cosby.
Then Atia’s daughter wouldn’t have been so easily fooled 🙂 Maybe. If she watched CNN instead of Charmed on TNT.
P.S. Sorry I didn’t post a diary last night. I realized I’d forgotten at 8:55pm my time, and realized it’d been almost 3 hours since you and the other East Coasters had seen it. Glad YOU did this. Continue on!
I can’t remember her name… Anyway, as the series has progressed she has gone from sympathic to dispicable. I could get over the dark rites she performed using stylus on lead sheets to invoke stomach cancer on her “enemies.” I mean, what’s that but venting unless you believe that sympathetic magic always works; which it doesn’t.
But when she seduced Octavia and then provoked her to seduce her own brother, well, she crossed the line into evil treachery, IMHO. The “rape of the lock” and public humiliation she got at the end of this last episode seems rather tame considering Alita could have just had her killed for literally fucking up her family!
At the beginning of this week’s episode, during a scene between Brutus and his mother, Hubby says, “So Brutus is Cesear’s son…” Whoa, says I, I don’t think so; at least, not historically… maybe. What is the historical possibility that Brutus committed patricide?
My main focus on this program continues to be Titus, the Forest Gump of Rome, the series. He’s like a thread woven thru the whole tapestry. I felt so sorry for him when the slave girl could not recognize his real love for her. And why should she? Really.
It’s very hard to feel any empathy for any of these characters. They’re not merely flawed in a human way; they’re diabolical in inhumane ways. Even Octavius who, most likely, is supposed to invoke some sympathic feelings in viewers, remains a cold, passive/aggressive with serious sociopathic tendancies. It’s like he’s working his way down the list of attributes required for ruling Rome: Killing someone in hot blood, check; fucking a prostitute, check; torturing and killing someone in cold blood, check; committing incest, check. I forget the history; didn’t he kill his mother eventually…
a new rome was on last night?
i thought it was still on break
thank god for hbo on demand
A) servillia is whom you refer to…ceasars mistress
B) i dont think these people really cared if they were fucking their siblings…if they could even figure out whom their siblings were half the time
C)ceasar would have been 15 when brutus was born…not impossible for him to be his daddy but most historians feel its unlikely…still it was believed to be true among romans who loved gossip….some things never change.
D)this was a different time with different rules….i dont think things have changed much….humans are still assholes…and octavius does eventually rule rome…he is renamed augustus and rules for a very long time….thru the christ times…i believe octavia eventually marries marc antony…cant wait to see that play out….there are a few things that dont seem right…i dont remember pompeius being killed…i thought he was exiled to spain or somewhere along with cato….and i dont remember cleopatra having caesars kid….although i am pretty sure that child is never recognized because i believe caesar has no heirs (since julia died in childbirth) and he eventually names octavius/augustus as his heir.
Then she and Marc Antony got together and had twins plus another I think. All the children were killed though when the parents bit the dust.
