A CBS News poll has Bush’s approval rating at 35%.
The only recent president lower at this point in their second term was Richard Nixon.
Comparisons to Richard Nixon. Ouch.
“The president I think has bottomed out. I think last week was the bottom,” said Ken Duberstein, who worked in the team that Ronald Reagan brought in to help recover from the Iran-Contra scandal.
Newsflash, Duberstein: he hasn’t bottomed out yet. You can count on that.
Congress is rated even lower. Only 34 percent approve of its work.
Good thing 2006 is an election year. There’s a change a comin’…
Vice President Cheney has never been as popular as the president, but his favorable rating is down nine points this year to just 19 percent.
19 percent.
Really – what needs to be said about that number? Looks like his relatives, friends and his Halliburton buddies are the only supporters he has left.
This is your Bush administration – one year after Bush proclaimed that he had earned “political capital”. Looks like he’s gone bankrupt and has taken the rest of the country with him.
We have got to take our country back, and win congress to check these people.
I’ll take one of those t shirts!
Nicely written. I really like that “19” number.
It looks like he got that political capital at a near zero interest rate.
Damn,…19%, that’s incredible, Good job, Dick.
These numbers are awesome, especially if you follow the link and read the entire thing. Plamegate is beginning to resonate big time. Thanks Catnip.
Yes. The American public is paying attention.
Cheney had better not trim his Holiday Greeting card list this year or he’s at 15%
I hear he’s already reconsidered using DeLay’s Direct Mail list for card recipients.
Cheney is lower than Nixon ever was during his presidency. I am stunned. 19% means that significant numbers of Republicans do not approve. I guess that means they have been paying attention, at least a little bit? I’m curious now as to what it would take to make those who approve of Bush but not Cheney to take that last step back to reality… Are they the religious ones, since Cheney has done very little to placate that wing of the party? They seem like they’d be the hardest to peel away from Bush now that Miers has been replaced with Alito, particularly since the rightist christians think most dems are demonspawn.
