OK. Let’s get down TO it.
They are ALL going down.
BET on it.
Here’s how it’s working so far.
Read on:
Patrick Fitzgerald said in his original press conference:
Investigators do not set out to investigate the statute, they set out to gather the facts.
It’s critical that when an investigation is conducted by prosecutors, agents and a grand jury they learn who, what, when, where and why. And then they decide, based upon accurate facts, whether a crime has been committed, who has committed the crime, whether you can prove the crime and whether the crime should be charged.
Agent Eckenrode doesn’t send people out when $1 million is missing from a bank and tell them, “Just come back if you find wire fraud.” If the agent finds embezzlement, they follow through on that.
FITZGERALD: That’s the way this investigation was conducted. It was known that a CIA officer’s identity was blown, it was known that there was a leak. We needed to figure out how that happened, who did it, why, whether a crime was committed, whether we could prove it, whether we should prove it.
And given that national security was at stake, it was especially important that we find out accurate facts.
They set out to gather the facts about who, what, when, where and why and crime was committed.
It is obvious that Plame was outed.
It is obvious that this is a statutory crime.
Libby has been charged.with lying about facts in this case. The only thing left to do it prove the he lied rather than simply “misspoke”. A NUMBER of times. I believe that they have him on that. He can run, but he can’t hide.
Which takes care of who, what, when, where.
But not “why”.
The servant does not independently undertake serious acts without the direction of his master. When pinned, the servant will usually…unless he feels a FAR more serious threat from his master than from his accusers…point upwards.
Cheney is Libby’s master.
Cheney is in hot, HOT water.
“Why” was this Plame outing done?
To discredit…and threaten…Wilson.
And why discredit Wilson?
REALLY?
Because he represented a faction in the PermaGov that did not want to invade Iraq and was opposing the admin spin about WMDs. Which was a blatant falsehood, put together because the REAL reason…a forcible continuation of US/British hegemony in a region that threatens to fall to Islamic interests over the next decade or less…would not fly with the American sleeple.
Bet on it.
On to Rove.
ANYTHING Libby does Rovie does better.
Rove also gave false testimony.
Rove ALSO leads to Cheney.
Possibly NOT to Bush, at least until well after the fact.
Do the producers of a game show consult the host’s empty suit if they are planning some kind of tricky maneuver?
No.
Why?
He’d just look guilty as he said his lines.
Do news producers consult their newsmuffins as they accede to governmental spin?
No. They just tell them to read whatever is on the teleprompter and smile, smile, smile.
Rove leads to Cheney.
Cheney.
The oil interests’ man in power.
Cheney. The man who presided over a meeting of the large oil producers well before the invasion that was called to cut up the potential booty. A meeting that is STILL classified information as to who was there and what was said.
Cheney, who through his Halliburton and Bechtel interests sits atop a pyramid of “contractors” that leads DIRECTLY to the Abu Ghraib thing, the IMMENSE set of swindles in place in Iraq right now that are the real reason Iraq is still in successful insurrection, and the total failure of Homeland Security, FEMA and the other domestic versions of the same boondoggle to be able to function in any way whatsoever other than for the enrichment of right wing, new money corporate interests.
Cheney Cheney Cheney Cheney Cheney Cheney Cheney.
24/7.
THEN comes Butch.

High level aide: Ahhhhh….Mr President. We have some…ahhhh…bad news. Remember when we suggested that you say…ahhhh…that you say “If there’s a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.”
Remember?
Right.
THAT one.
When we wrote out that “impromptu statement” for you to memorize and deliver in Chicago? The one where you said ‘”I welcome the investigation. I am absolutely confident the Justice Department will do a good job.I want to know the truth, Leaks of classified information are bad things.”
When we told you to say that you do not know of “anybody in my administration who leaked classified information.”
Remember?
Yeah…that one, Sir. Just before you fell off of your bike again. That’s right
Welllll….that might have been a little…premature….
Butch: “Yeah but…leaks of classified information are bad things!!!”
High level aide: Sigh…
Yes, Mr. President. they are. Except…sometimes. It’sd hard to explain, sir. It’s just that…
Butch: Explain WHAT!!!??? It’s HARD WORK, being President!!!
HARD WORK!!!
Cain’t get no good help, no more!!! It’s HARD WORK!!! Where’s mah bike? AH need some recreATION, goddamnit!!!”
High level aide (sotto voce): It’s hopeless…
(Normal voice) Yes SIR, Mr. President!!! We have a brand spanking shiny NEW one for you, sir!!! With hi-tech training wheels this time, Sir. The “My Pet Goat” model, Sir!!!
Butch: Great!!! Now tell Turdblossom to take CARE of this. PRONTO!!!
High level aide: Sigh…
Yes SIR, Mr. President!!!
(sotto voce): It’s hopeless…
++++++++++
Yes SIR!!!
It IS hopeless.
Best bet…
Cheney goes down.
They leave Bush in there, swing Congress to the Dems, and strand Butchie AND his bike…the lamest of lame ducks, and the least effective, as well… for another couple of years while we get the fuck out of Iraq.
Why?
Rocking the boat TOO badly is bad for business. Just anchor the damned thing so’s it can’t go off course any further and then clean up the debris.
Who “they”?
Do you really want to know?
BOO!!!
It’s Hallowe’en 24/7 in DC.
And all those spook costumes?
They ain’t costumes.
BET on it.
(They don’t call it the PermaGov fer NUTHIN’…)
BET on it.
Later…
AG
OK.
Here ’tis…
AG
You know AG, I have been sober for almost a quarter of a century come January. Once in a very great while I wonder to myself if there would ever be a time to pick up a drink again. If they all go down it sure would be tempting to break out the bubbly…lol!
I hope that you are right and I promise to drink club soda for my bubbly! Saw this as a comment. Glad you decided to post as a diary!
Nice post. I might be saying that only because I agree with you but the significance of what you see is important, in my opinion.
I think this is critical to what Fitzgerald ran into. If the Niger documents were important enough to help prove a false justification for war, the next question is ‘why’ it was so important.
The subject is worthy of it’s own thread if it hasn’t been done yet. The influence and participation of Enron’s Ken Lay in the Energy Policy meetings and cooperation with the administration keeps reappearing.
Maybe it’s a coincidence that Bush also chose Lay’s attorney when he needed possible criminal defense representation.
Do I remember that some of the documents finally released from Cheney’s secret meetings contained maps of oil fields in Iraq?
Absolutely…those bastards.
It was a very big deal in the way of pre-war planning… including the divvy after getting them (the oilfields) secured. That’s also key to the PNAC doctrine. The recovery contracts for Halliburton were awarded well before the war started, if I remember correctly. I’ve also picked up a hint somewhere that Lay was figured into the spoils as reward for his years of monetary support. I’ll find that link.
The history of Enron’s interest toward foreign policy is highly important but hardly mentioned. The power plant in India was key to Enron’s failure for the lack of an available gas supply. I’m pretty sure India refused to pay the balance due on the plant but I’d have to look it up. It’s been a while since I was digging into that. It appears that the Bush admin members had a hand in that the decade before. That’s the area, or one of them, that Cheney was issued an indictment for bribery from a long time ago.
You betcha.
Wonder why…
AG
In the book “Crossing the Rubicon” there is this wonderful map that juxtaposes those 10-15 permanent military bases we’re constructing to know Iraqi oil fields. Wouldn’t you know it…every base abuts an oil field. Go figure…

For if it prosper, none dare call it treason.”
▼ ▼ ▼ MY DIARY
“I’m saddened by the language used in the site that Oui has just provided me with,” but it raises some questions which I will probe.
Patience is not one of my strong points…I have faith that they are going down…just not fast enough for me.
Great diary….
$25 says we get only 1-3 indictments, total. And that they “all” don’t go down. C’mon. You’re one-third of the way there already with Libby’s indictment in the can.
Hey Meteor,
Take your reality bit elsewhere. 😉
Let us dream.
MB’s bet sounds fine to me. As long as the 3 who go down are Libby, Rove and Cheney. Then without a brain or a Dick (did I just type that?!), Bush is a completely empty suit.
Don’t forget all the mentions of ‘Lucky Jeff “toppin’ bulldog’Gannon” to keep ‘ole George company if he finds himself Dick-less.
Fitzgerald has those Secret Service logs that show JG going in (the White House) more often than he left.
…as evidence of what i want to see happen. Take it as what I think will happen. Last week, I won $10 for wagering on October 7 that Miers would withdraw before November 2. I was happy for the dough, but unhappy that we wouldn’t get to see her squirm in the confirmation hearings. I’d love to see two-thirds of Bush’s Administration in the slammer. But my gambling side says no way.
I’ve got $ 10 on a Rove indictment, time period = anytime until the end of BushCo administration.
Not talking about indictments.
Talking about resignations.
Talking about a compltely collapsed administraion and Ratpub Party.
HOWEVER it happens.
Talking about leaving Iraq, no matter what face is put upon it.
Talking about 2006 Democratic wins. Lots of them.
And…NOT necessarily talking about much [i/]substantive[/i] change.
Not the kind that I envision, anyway.
No end to economic imperialism. Just a softer version thereof.
No end to media spin.
Just spinning to a different tune.
Always the same band, though…them that’s GOT.
Who’ve changed their minds.
Reversed their cousre.
“Why…HARRY!!! These people we hired are INCOMPETENT!!! Let’s fire them.”
“OK, Madge…OK. When you’re right, you’re right. More champagne, my dear?”
Business as usual.
Only different.
AG
And Cheney IS going down.
One way or another…Cheney is GOING down.
Just like Watergate…PUBLICITY is the necessary engine that will drive this thing.
Not rule of law…that is just an empty vehicle without popular approval. And “popular approval” has turned. The system that Rove put into place over the last 12 years or so…the dirty tricks/media control system…has finally broken down.
And Cheney is going down.
The queen of this nasty set of red chess pieces.
Senator Reid said after the Senate throwdown on Tuesday “Nothing happens regarding intelligence gathering … unless it’s signed off on by the Vice President,” he said. “[Senate Intelligence chairman Pat] Roberts couldn’t do it”–i.e., Roberts couldn’t conduct a full investigation without Cheney’s approval. When I asked Reid whether he meant to state so flatly that Cheney was personally and directly stalling the Intelligence Committee’s work, he didn’t pause a beat. In fact he almost stood from his chair. “Yes. I say that without any qualification … Circle it.”
I repeat.
Circle it.
Cheney is surrounded.
Draw up the wagons.
There is not a GODDAMNED thing that they can do about it now.
If someone blew up half of Chicago…if a REAL terrorist using REAL WMDs attacked the United States…by this time no one would believe it. Not ENOUGH people, anyway. That’s how far into Fuckupville these criminals have ventured.
Chicken Little done cried wolf tickets once too often and now the sky is going to fall.
One way or another…it’s going to fall right on Cheney’s head.
Right where it belongs.
Now he might escape prosecution…bad for business, don’tcha know…but one way or another he is through through THROUGH.
And yes. I WILL bet on it.
BET on it.
Whatcha got, Meteor?
I forget where you live, but I travel enough so’s I’m almost EVERYWHERE some time, and I live in NYC which is pretty easy to find.
I will bet you a meal in a good restaurant that Cheney is out of office before the ’06 elections.
Provided of course that there are any good restaurants left if he takes it to the wall and successfully starts pushing red buttons.
Which I do not think that he can or WILL do.
Bet?
AG
Don’t know if you’re dead on, but I sure like the way you think (and hope).
(. . . I do believe in indictments, I do, I do, I do believe in indictments, . . .)
Alice,
So if you’re clicking your ruby red slippers together as you say that – we’re “home.”
Oh yeah, wrong fairy tale.
Right fairy tale, wrong character.
(It was the Cowardly Lion trying to fend off ghosts.”)
Yea, I know, whatever works!!
I was amazed at the approval rating for Cheney – 19%. Only the neo cons love him. I think some more news cycles about how badly the Bush administration is doing – even now in flu season shots are not ready yet not even for ordinary every year flu! The CDC says “just a minor glitch!” – give us some more news cycles like that and they are toast. I think 2006 will be a banner year for some opponents of the GOP if we can get the good candidates.
