Yes I know it’s early even for you East Coasters, but the other cafe is filling up so fast I thought I would just open up the night cafe early and get you all in the mood for having fun tonight.
I decided to dress in costume for tonight, join me if you wish…
So what are you doing for fun tonight????
New Cafe with Happy Hour is now open, I am taking a break to play my video game, see you back here in a bit……And have fun!!!! Like you wouldn’t anyway…lol!!!!!
but I wrote a diary today…
Just came from workout; my glasses are fogging up! Need to go shower then get a little bit of work done, including trying to figure out how long I’m supposed to cook the marinated pork loin I just dug out of the freezer this weekend. Tomorrow is voting day; plan to get my big batch of chili going before heading for the polls, then the spouse and I can eat while watching the early election returns.
Will be glad to have this election over — I’m so tired of recorded election messages on my phone, even the ones I agree with. π
and I recommended it Cali! Have anice shower…teehee.
even Pat Lang recommended it and commented on it. I don’t even think he comments on his own diaries…lol!
does that mean I’m going to be added to Arthur Gilroy’s shit list? Guilt by association and all that… ;P
Uhmmmmmmm…probably but then again isn’t the whole world on Gilroy’s shitlist…lol!
I hate to rain on your parade, Cali, lol (loved your diary and recommended it) but I think that SusanHu was logging in as Pat Lang and forgot to log out for a while. So some of those recommends and comments may be in drag!
then I’m doubly honored, even if we end up in a pie fight over Keith Olbermann… π
Speaking of workouts. . .
I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor’s permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour but, by the time I got my
leotards on, the class was over.
ROFLMAO. . .and that should be worth some points too.
That was a very good diary cali!
shirl!
Who here thinks that Shirl really did this,,raise your hands…I thought so…and then she tells me it was a joke…
I yahooed her to see why she hadn’t told me!!!!!
My little nephew from this diary won a national wrestling championship yesterday, and I got to coach him. Had him autograph my coach’s credentials afterwards. (Buttons popping off coat). It is like four generations of family effort. And presto. We’ve got him. (I feel so much like one of those kids’ beauty pageant moms, right now).
That’s cool, tell him congrats for me and as for those buttons, I’d offer to sew them back on but sewing isn’t one of my strong points-actually it’s no point really.
Is it too soon to list him as a “Fighting Dem”? π
BTW, thought of you on Saturday — saw “Good Night, and Good Luck”, and the movie featured the news clip with the Welch quote. If you have not seen the movie yet, you have to see it…
Plan on seeing it tomorrow in fact. Can’t wait.
Cloudy and cool up here, with a chance of showers…so I brought the outdoor fireplace for the Cafe patio, if only to keep our smokers from catching cold…
(I may not be a smoker, but I can be considerate of those who are…)
Why thank you Cali, for the fireplace, I’ll be standing around it later when I take a smoke break outside tonight…really tho, I am the only one in the house so I smoke at my desk, bad girl that I am..
Cali
You are so thoughtful, and I sure appreciate it, I was startin to get a little chill, what with all my previous exercise rigors. . .Yes, Diane it really was a joke.
Hey diane, like your costume. Can someone dress me up to look like Angelina Jolie or the next best costume would be a Hershey Bar.
Can’t say I’m doing anything more exciting than looking forward to watching ‘Prison Break’ tonight and taping Vegas. Then again for me this is about as exciting as it gets. Unless someone does show up here with the Angelina Jolie costume.
Quiet evening planned tonight – a quiet dinner of soup and salad, some administrative stuff for BuyBlue, a little ironing while watching CSI, and early to bed.
Still at work for another couple of hours…I really like being on hold on the telephone though! Then I get to read and comment here!
with my country.
Got room for one more, Manny?
Have hope though – the more that is released the more likely this will all stop and they’ll have to try the Red Regime bastards for War Crimes.
there’s room! I am seething with anger at these criminals in power, I need to unlug for awhile. Be back later.
I had a happy hour today — I played two games of Cootie with the six year old and then took him skating on his roller blades ’round the “block” (it’s actually about a mile in our neighborhood). We looked for amd found “cool things” (a sparkly rock, a flower, pine needles (yep, there’s a pine tree on our route), a little plastic hairbrush, big purple morning glories growing over a fence), we waved “hi” to our neighbors and went really fast down the hill (with a little side discussion about gravity)…..best happy hour I’ve had in weeks!
Hope ya’ll enjoy your evening!
Those are the best, and most fleeting, of happy hours. I remember well the walks I took with a toddler, or two or three of them, when we never got more than 50 yards from our house because there were so many cool things to bend down and pick up or stop and watch. A worm displaced by a rainstorm, an acorn, a broken bit of robin’s egg. You know what I remember more than the walks we took?…the walks we didn’t take because I was too tired or bummed out. If I could do it again I’d definitely take more aimless walks.
Though it’s cost me a lot of $0.99s recently… π
There’s a local rock station that carries the San Jose Sharks games — before the game broadcast starts, they play this really cool instrumental track to fill in the time between their last song and the start of the broadcast. The spouse knew the name of the group, Traffic, but didn’t know what song it was. So, I went to iTunes Music Store, searched for “Traffic”, then just went down the list and double clicked on each title, which plays a 30 second sample of the song. I was able to find out that the title was “Glad”…and for $0.99, was able to add it to my growing music collection.
Reminds me, it’s Monday, so time to back up the iTunes folder… π
I thought this headline was just too good. If you do not find it comical, just throw me in the cement pond.
No cement for you, DTF.
That’s a gem.
Too big a strech to blame it on Clinton, eh?
That’s an Idaho stretch. . .we don’t drink T here.
Time to call it Done! There’s a tall, cold one, or two or… with my name on it…waiting…later…
Peace
Evening folks. Just completing my usual evening rituals, bottles etc.
was able to tear myself away from the Internets long enough to shower; now nice and comfy in a new pair of PJs, and keeping an eye on the Monday Night Football game while adding some Led Zeppelin to my iTunes library (from the box set the spouse picked up a while back).
Life ain’t too damn bad around these parts… π
Ours is one of a number of areas with mail-only voting.
All we’ve got are a handful of citizen initiatives to jumpstart the restoration of the Gilded Age. Surrendering our legal rights and our taxation ability, and casting off our infrastructure—those kinds of things.
The good news is that the WA Dems have an easily spotted voter guide right on the front page of the web. Bad news, we’re still punching chad-cards by hand without even machines.
Oh, more bad news, in addition to the flood of last-second stealth voter registration challenges you’ve heard about Republicans filing, we also have stricter requirements for i.d. and signatures, both of which should help block a lot of unnecessary Democratic voting.
What’s everyone been doing while I have been out conquering the world, via my video game..
Anything new?
It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to ‘hang out’ in the cafe. My latest flower capture:
Gerbera daisy, taken Nov 5, 2005 … (large view)
OOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo LLLLLLliiiiiiiiiiiiiivia!
Fabulous! Wow!
Thanks for dropping by and bringing that beauty to share with us.
Can I have your autograph?
It’s your autograph that I want.
I have your post “Words of love to a friend” printed out and on my desk. I read it every so often … find it very comforting (especially 3. Release the need to know). So see – you’re the superstar!
(I just went to you site to find the link; here it is.)
((((shirl))))
Oh gosh, Olivia. . .I would be humble about that, but I am pretty sure that one was a gift from a “larger than life” verson of me. My friend was in such despair and so discouraged about “life beating up on her.” So it certainly came pouring forth from my heart center, but we will give the credit to “Big Shirl” and be very appreciative of the gift.
I am honored to have been the conduit for the words and very touched that you connect with them so deeply.
Yep, number 3 is a biggy. At least it was one that took a lot of effort for me to bring forth. . .since I had lived all of my years prior in my head. And now I don’t know nuttin, so I am eternally blissful. . .LOL
See you tomorrow.
Time,. . . .that is PERFECT!!!
Y’all are keepin me laughing tonight.
Looks like I missed a fascinating discussion on feminism in this morning’s cafe (not that all you people here aren’t fabulous company, too!)
(And is it a sign of hopeless BooTrib addiction that I read the morning cafe threads, after they’re closed? Oh well, the first step is admitting you have a problem.)
Just wanted to say, re IndyLib’s proposed feminism diary or diary series — yes, please. Would love to have a discussion here on all the issues raised in this morning’s thread, and more. Count me in.
