Actually, I’d really like to walk on one of these beaches (she said quite soberly). How come Kansas has to be so far from a beach? It’s the biggest drawback!

This is one of my favorite spots–the Hollywood Florida Broadwalk. As we stroll we’ll hear a lot of different accents, just like in the Cafe.

I thought the perfect job would be a taste tester at Ben & Jerry’s. But I’m good bit older than you and my goals are different — my perfect job would offer lots of satisfaction with very low stress and responsibility.
If I could get paid to travel, hike, and take pictures, I don’t think it could get any better than that.
I don’t think anyone will pay me for that though…so I’ll just try to earn enough bucks in the meantime so that I can just do it on my own 🙂

So this thread about beaches has totally got me pumped about…well, beaches.
I mean, even the Prez needs to hit the beach every now and again!

It just had that feeling…the light or something. Love Kauai, spent a fair amount of time there, 2 weeks every March…alas no more, long story…primarily on the north shore, around Princeville. Beautiful spot, The Garden Island indeed.

Some of the best hiking we’ve ever done. Koke’e really ought to be a national park.
We stayed in Waimea which we thought was a wonderful little town — we liked that it was basically without any of the touristy stuff.

SallyCat, where do you get these wonderful pictures? They remind me of old-style science fiction magazine covers — and I mean that as a compliment, I’m a big fan of golden age SF.
Most of these pictures are from websites still around from the 1998-2001 time frame that are ‘doom’ game related sites. This particular one is 1999 I think – from a Russian ‘doom’ game site. no I don’t speak or read it…just look at pretty pictures!
I worked for an start-up tech company in 97-98 and the engineers adopted me as ‘Mom.’ I made them homemade cookies and they got me hooked on dragon and gaming photo web sites! (They were all 19-22ish and I was 43ish!).
Oh yeah – most of the pictures are not work safe!

But until then, I’m perfectly happy ooo’ing and aaah’ing over the great pix. I would ask when the next photo fair will be held, but I don’t want to shock katiebird out of her FourFest stupor 🙂

Is this the one with the new Dumbledore?
this is the second movie with the new Dumbledore…and to be honest, it’s not the same; BUT! this is my favorite of the books and I am reeeeealllly looking forward to seeing how they adapted it for the big screen.
I’ve managed to not read any of the books or see any of the movies.
WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! Don’t yell at me yet.
I’m just in the middle of too many <Scotty McC>ongoing</Scotty McC> series to even think about getting into another one. So I’m just going to wait until all the books are out, and catch up.
Plus then I won’t have to wait in line at the theatre with any Man E’s dressed up as child-wizards :p
For the record, I only dress up for Lord of the Rings. 😛
I highly recommend the series (obviously). Rowling, the author, has the ability to reach any age group.

Goblet of Fire? That was my favourite book too. I’ve read all the books, only saw the first two movies.
And it will be interesting to see how they adapt that large volume to the screen.
The third movie was way different in tone than the first two due to the director change, but I enjoyed it immensely. The storyline of Prisoner is very intricate and he managed to pull it off nicely.
I CAN’T WAIT! (2 hours, 28 minutes left) WOO!
Just think, if you lived here you’d only have 20 minutes to go until midnight! Speaking of which, it’s midnight. Better get some sleep.
