Thinking of my Grandmother-in-law, she just found that her friend of 40 years past away last night. Thinking of my mother-in-law, just recently starting Dialysis. Thinking of my mother, who is finally able to get her feet off of the ground after so long….
Thinking about those who can’t be with their families when they most want to.
Something’s off this year…Just got done speaking with Nana (GMIL) and her elder son. They both say that something’s off this year. Wonder what that could be?
Sorry to be so down….
I’m feeling shitty this holiday season too.
Part of it is just the short days.
Yeah I am sure that the short days have a lot to do with it. But I am also sensing an undercurrent. Of what I have no idea…either way it doesn’t feel so good.
.
Haven’t you noticed, each day lengthens by 3 minutes!
I know it can be tough during these special days of getting together with family or friends, but heck, be sure to invite some of your buddies ahead of time, to spend some time together. I always have a small gathering of dear friends and neighbors for Christmas Eve breakfast after midnight services, it’s an open invitation to all persons dear to me. Had a special friend drop in unannounced, we added a seating at the large table, exchanged small gifts and had a grand time together.
A Joyous and Inspiring Christmas Day!

Maybe your day is lengthening by three minutes, Oui, but on this side of the pond, near the eastern edge of standard time, it’s enough that the official sunset is now at 4:01, rather than 3-something.
We stopped losing time about a week ago, when the sunrise came a minute earlier each day even though the sunset remained about the same. Now, both rise and set are moving back by a minute almost every day–although not always both on the same day, for now. So, some days we gain only a minute, or none.
By the first week of January, we’ll have afternoon light in the sky until 5 p.m., thank goodness!
It wasn’t very kind of your Giants to lose today. I am sorry.
When I used to be really “into” sports, it disturbed me how much my moods could be affected by my teams’ ups and downs.
Checked in on the Seahawks game, but it seemed pretty much a done deal … and there’s Jay Parini on C-Span2 talking about the life and poetry of Robert Frost. Fascinating story about Frost coming to the rescue of Ezra Pound, getting Eisenhower’s people to release Pound from St. Elizabeth’s mental hospital (where Hinckley lives today).
I’m thinking again today of Jerome’s wonderful news about his son, hoping you’re settling into your new digs with the other booman(and no more ah bathroom surprises)and that you’re doing well Boo, thinking about all our non-American friends who contribute and post here who greatly enrich this site, continue to think about all the people affected by Katrina and wishing I had a magic wand to have the Gulf States rebuilt the right way, I’m wishing infidel pig would pop in and say hello, I’m thinking I wish I lived in a county in Ca. that wasn’t one of the reddest in the state, I’m wishing that all the other family members who have this hereditary neuro disease would wake up and find that it had disappeared, I’m hoping that no one gets killed in Iraq or Afghanistan over this holiday,…I’m thinking I need to quit hanging around here and get some last minute stuff done…and it almost goes without saying that I’m thinking I want the bush cabal run out of town on a rail and put in some of those ‘secret’ prisons..is that enough thinking for you booman?
Not a whole lot. Just watching the Seahawks keep the Colts out of the end zone.
Seattle 21, Colts 6 with about 8 minutes left in the game.
On to the Super Bowl!!
Nothin’ much. . . .
