Hope you and the other Booman are having a great morning! Thank you for giving us this wonderful place to be all year long!
Did you get Boo extra treats?
The cat got a new container of Cosmic Catnip – he’s currently drooling in his little pile of catnip!
We are off to give Narnia and Little House on the Prairie books to the grandkidlets!
we are listening to music (John Prine) and eating Milk-bones!!
I got John Prine too..and Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke’s 66 steps…life is good. 🙂
yup. Merry Christmas, Cabin Girl. I hope the kids are having fun with their gifts!
Merry Christmas, my sister-in-so-many-ways! What are you putting on that new bone china today?
and then the whole mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing thing for the kids. It is an odd Christmas feast. We had talked about Fondue but was having a heck of a time tracking down the cheese for it here. What are guys having? Are you going to your mums?
Sounds yummy. We have apricot glazed pork roast and mashed potatoes and veggies and dessert and (I thought of you when I made this) artichoke dip! My mom was here for dinner last night, today it’s just us, with a cameo appearance by the boys’ dad this afternoon. And then we’re off to see KingKong tonight.
We had a ham and bacon and gruyere strata for breakfast…
Breakfast sounded delightful! Apricot glazed pork sounds succulent.
May I have both, please? Sounds so good … and it’s neat you spoil your wonderful husband too.
Maybe you’ll have to order your gourmet goodies through some online gourmet place … wonder who sells good cheeses on the ‘net.
We have been using the internet now for clothing for at least the last six months. Finally gave up fighting the powers that be, never thought to use it for hard to find foods though. Sometimes I’m just a tad slow….it’s the Christmas Worm.
or shellfish, due to Puget4’s cholesterol situation. A shame because there are outstanding fresh shellfish in the area most of the year. Oh well–there’s still a nice suite of fin fish.
But we had spicey codfish sausages for breakfast along with some veggie yums. Doggies got more treats, and with all of our cable channels knocked out except the FOX uhf affiliate which is running infomercials, we’re off to find a beach to walk the doggies.
55 and windy, it’s like a midwest day in mid April. There are even some forsythias blooming.
Did BooMan like any of the treats he got from the Northwest?
he liked everything except the hip joint treats. He says they taste like seaweed.
Uhoh .. must taste before purchasing … and

school. I wonder what it would have been like to get hit with Harry Potter back then. Even though my daughter is in high school when the last came out she stayed in her bedroom for about four days straight reading it through. The first one came out when she was seven.

The missing NSA documents requested by Congress in the failed proceedings to successfully appoint John Bolton as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, may have been compromised by NORAD radar installations on Canadian soil.
.
Continental Air Defense Command, also located in Colorado Springs, started the tradition after a local store’s advertisement for children to call Santa on a special hot line included a misprinted telephone number. Instead of Kris Kringle, the number put children through to the CONAD commander-in-chief’s operations hot line.
The director of operations, Col. Harry Shoup, thus received the first “Santa” call. Realizing what had happened, Shoup played along and his staff quickly jumped in to help handle the influx of calls. A picture of Santa and his reindeer was added to the map of North America and the tradition was born.
The many thousands of phone calls which come into Cheyenne Mountain are answered by a team of American and Canadian military and civilian volunteers who work throughout the Cheyenne Mountain complex with NORAD, U.S. Space Command and Air Force Space Command. More than 15,000 Santa calls were received last year.
Merry Christmas BooMan and
A Joyeus and Inspiring Christmas Day to All!

Oui, you are such a terrific joy! Thank you for the gift you give to us year round. My the blessings be upon you…peace, my dear friend.
Stuff. In small amounts, and not spendy. Pleasant and quiet everywhere, fog-covered sky, near-balmy 60 degrees. True sounds of silence. Hope you and the pup are enjoying your new digs. 🙂
i gotta go for a drive to see the family in a bit. The newf has a newfsitter.
Is it another dog????!!!! That’d be such fun.
Oh, I hope not. A roomate of mine once had the bright idea of having another dog “babysit” the puppy she had just gotten over the holidays.
The result was that the two of them broke out of their confines in the kitchen and toppled the entire Christmas tree. They also ate tree ornaments and a box of chocolates that was wrapped under the tree. Luckily, they survived, but oh the mess they made!! I’ll never forget it.
Incredibly difficult trying to post on my parents’ computer. I did a diary, but it didn’t go through, apparently. So, if you’d like to see my Christmas post, you can check it out here

Who’d guess?
See, that’s why people get laptops, so they can connect where ever they go. For instance, recently at my brother’s place, it took me a mere 7 and a half hours to get connected. See how convenient that is?
Nothing under our tree yet — we’ll do our gift exchange in a bit, before we go over to the in-laws. (Spouse keeps peeking over my shoulder, so no telling what I got him yet.)
Thinking about making a good breakfast, if I can get myself moving…still need to cut up the red and green bell peppers for the veggie tray, and also open and prepare the paté plate for me and the folks (the spouse and his brother can take paté or leave it, mostly leave it…). We don’t have to be at the folks till about 4-ish, so got lots of time…
Have a great day, everyone…
but I did a lot of catering working with chefs. I haven’t had pate in soooooo long, I think I just got a little tear in my vistas of Alabama eye. Merry Christmas Cali Scribe, you will be in my thoughts today though for probably different reasons than you would have ever imagined.
when it comes to stuff like paté — our local Safeway has an awesome gourmet area (they just remodeled). 😉
A couple of friends of the in-laws are both gourmet cooks; they make a green peppercorn paté that’s out of this world. It takes something like 6+ hours to do — the in-laws tried it one year. A bit too time-consuming for me…I love to cook, but have better things to do with my time as well…
Santa brought me an eight place setting of beautiful bone china, just plain white…but wow is it nicely made and gorgeous. Having two kids so far apart in age, I only buy white dishes…….things are always broken by little people and sometimes even big people but everything white at least doesn’t clash. Santa knew though that a really nice set of bone china would really dress up special occassions and I could still use all of my serving dishes. I love Santa. Santa brought my husband a Chain saw. It is true that there are a couple a dead trees on the place and since the hurricanes are sending such strong winds so far inland beloved Santa was once again thinking of our welfare. Love Ya Santa Baby!
Not even a lump of coal for us. Holiday greetings to all!
Happy Honakkah (sp?) Boran2. Many happy returns of the day and for 8 days to come. Hugs.
Had the fun of watchng am 8 month old grandaughter at her very first Christmas last night. She was awed by it all, and did her best to get the unopened gifts in her mouth whole, before she discovered the joy of ripping off the paper! That turned into some disappointment, however, when, after all that hard work, she was not allowed to eat any of it. By the end of it all, she was surrounded by more toys that any kid could possibly play with before college, and chose as her favorite things..(you guessed it). the boxes they came in!
Warm regards to all, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
Kids are that way, ya know…:o)..mine were just that way too…Merry christmas…hugs.
Since I have not had Christmas yet with my family, (((will be tomorrow)))), I am enjoying your Christmas with you, if you do not mind…:o)
Booman, Thank you for the gift of your site that we use all year long. Many happy returns for the day.
Tracy, Dear, you are such a wonderful joy to have around. You will never know how you have enlightened my days. Just know this, when your days are down and you feel sad. YOu do great things, for me anyhow, with your diaries.
To all of you, my heart felt wishes for the very best of the day. I hope you are looking forward to the next year and what we will share together. I send you all my love…wishing you a wonderful Christmas and holiday of happiness.
My son and husband are playing Battlefront II on Playstation. It showed up under the tree as being from me but I can’t seem to remember buying it hmmmmmm.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, the magic of Christmas…:o) Hugs…Merry Christmas to you and yours….
the Far Side Animal Sex calendar; Puget4 got a helium balloon packed inside an upside-down box, and a little periscope so she can finally see what’s on top of the refrigerator. And a few books.
We always do toys and books.
And the Twa Totos got doggie treats–and they got to unwrap most of the presents. Film at 11.
imposed day without TV. Tree on cable somewhere.
Happy Holiday to you goose and to the dogs too. Thank you for your pictures through out the year and to let us share the wonderful sites with you.
She didn’t carry the puppies from the famous deceased dog :(, hey, it happens and you can’t blame me for trying. So I bred her to the same dog that I did last year. I am hoping that Clint Curtis will want one of those pups, particularly since some of them turned out very tan with not a great deal of black. He also wanted one that would want to play ball and fetch and a couple of them are really crazy about it and I have photos of them at a year old so he can truly see what he is getting. Boy is she huge though already. She had 11 last year and I lost 2 because her labor was so long. I think she has another 11 in there this time but the vet said this go around he will give her some pitocin when her labor starts to speed it up and perhaps I won’t lose any being born. Then it’s just a matter of feeding them all, and 11 will probably need some outside help to all make it.
My brother and sister-in-law went a little overboard and bought me a new DVD/VCR player. My brother is a pretty major techno geek with all manner of computers, big screen TV’s and DVD players all over their house. He has been a bit mortified that my TV was bought second hand over ten years ago and my VCR player gave up the ghost over a year ago. So I guess he decided to do his bit to get me up to date. Now I’ll be able to watch movies on something other than my laptop screen – Yeah!
Hope everyone is having a day of peace and joy with loved ones.
Merry Christmas
Today’s blessings: we have food to eat & springlike outdoor temperatures of near 40 F, quite a bit above normal.
Warmest holiday wishes for serenity & joy to everyone!
Why didn’t the NYTimes hold on, and put up its big NSA story in today’s Sunday paper? Why did they put it in the Saturday paper?
Why instead is their top headline today:
U.S., Citing Abuse in Iraqi Prisons, Holds Detainees
as soon as they knew? </snark>
Christmas really is all about the kids.
Two-eyed Toto has discovered that Something’s Up.
He rips gaily into daddy’s sweater package. Our late giant Toto was so precise we’d let him unwrap glass ornaments. The sweater is intact and warming daddy this very moment.
One-eyed Toto has been the family baby for almost 14 years. Resting in the manner to which he’s become accustomed, he’s unwrapping a doggie treat.
Puget4 enjoys her balloon after finally extracting it from its upside-down box!
Best wishes & blessings to all. I hope everyone has as much fun as we did.
Merry Christmas Booman, Susan, and all my frognificent friends :o)
The best thing I got was the sight of my kids smiling, beaming, and loving each other after exchanging gifts with one another.
Peace
SS
As expected I received
One book:
Margrave of the Marshes, the biography of John Peel
One DVD:
Wallace & Gromit, 3 Cracking Adventures
Two tasty snacks:
One packet of Bombay Mix.
A second packet of Bombay Mix.
Ah the simple pleasures of the poor!
Merry Christmas All!
I received a Kodak digital camera and have spent the night and this morning trying to load software and to no avail. I actually had the program on computer when I started, then removed it to install newer version and since then no luck at all.
Anyone have any hints…I have exhausted all the hints on the kodak site..and have now written to support, but any clues or hints from tribbers would be most welcome
Oh and did I say how happy and surprised I was at this gift that I wished for so much for years now.
We drew names for gifts this year and mine was a set of dishes with a lovely pattern, however when I opened the package, bowls, and cups were just huge, twice the size of normal…what to do…exhange or keep, jumbo size?????
Merry Christmas to you Booman, hope this new year brings you the best of everything!!!!!
Oh bother … to get such a great gift and then have trouble.
I hope there’s an 800 number you can call tomorrow.
I had a wonderful experience with customer support recently. Because i had no computer games at all, Darcy got me a copy of Age of Empires II (the Middle Ages. Well, I couldn’t install it…. so I sent an e-mail to support but was impatient so also called their 800 number. I got a REAL person right away, and he said, “Hey, didn’t I just send you an e-mail?” And I checked and he had. I was blown away. In two seconds, he told me exactly what to do to install the game. It worked, voila!
Jumbo cups and bowls .. hmmm … I’d exchange them if possible, unless the giver would mind and would know (i.e., come over and see them missing).
Darcy got me my own whale! I have no idea where to put it, of course. The cats are in a row about it. They don’t want any competition. (She adopted a whale for me through Defenders of Wildlife … I love it.)
Call on the phone, me, not email….lol…well maybe I will if I can’t get email resolution…Just had my son upload to his computer and posted some pics…so go and see on my diary…me and my kids…
A whale, how wonderful, yes that would be hard to find a place for…
Hope you are having a great day Susan, and a Happy Holiday Season….looking forward to spending the New Year with you and Bootribbers all.
I saw those pics! Everybody looks great!
Merry Christmas, Diane!
I’m working tonight (but was off last night) so we moved everything up one day, and today has been extremely low key.
I got books – including “Lincoln’s Melancholy” and Doris Kearns Goodwin’s attempt to rehab her reputation with “Lincoln and His Rivals.”
Also every issue of the New Yorker on CD (hopefully purchased through a BooMan advert link, that’s where I pointed wifey) and a copy of Kurt Cobain’s Journals (where I got today’s text for Iraq War Grief Daily Witness).
Keeping my fingers crossed that the New Year brings a well-deserved Koufax for Group Blog to Boo/SueHu et al.
And as I’ve said elsewhere…
here
behind the computer screen I see my pretty darned big back yard. At the rear is a group of tall trees, pine, hemlocks, cedar. The Northwest — the grass is green, and up next to the trees where no one mowed the last couple times, it’s long, maybe 6-10″ long.
This morning, as I read these posts, I thought, what’s that lump out there? Euuuu, a dead possum. No, not quite right color, fur too long, dead raccoon. I’m staring at it, trying to figure out which, and it moves, adjusts itself…
It’s a cat! A cat that’s made itself a little nest in the wet grass, about 2 feet from the nearest couple log pieces. Long fur, multi-colored gray to black. It’s misting out, to boot. Have you ever heard of such a thing? A cat making itself a nest right on the ground, in wet grass?
It was there for hours. Since it was Christmas, I felt like I ought to cater it a piece of ham, but then maybe it would hang around here more, so no. It’s spitting rain now, and it’s gone. I hope that it belongs to someone from the little house in back of the property behind me, they’re on vacation or off for Christmas doings, and soon it will be able to get in again.
Anyway — ever seen/ heard of a cat doing that?
Sure, mine do it all the time. My impression is that they like the warmth retained by the ground.
Sounds perfectly lovely where you are, LookingUp. Pine, hemlock & cedar are some of my very favorite entities.
No something for nothing for us. Hubby — who is also known as The Road Warrior — and I hit the highway on Friday and drove down to Macon, GA. His crazy recluse brother still lives in the family homestead and allowed him to raid the garden shed for his Dad’s old 8-hp Troy-Bilt tiller and an antique Planet Jr. push plow.
Then, we went to Gainesville, GA to prepare a Christmas Eve feast for his daughter and her family. We witnessed the orgy of paper tearing this morning and drove another 500 miles to get home.
Next week Hubby has vacation days til after New Year’s and we’ll lay-out garden beds and, depending on the weather, till them. First Thursday in the New Year, I’ll start my “Grow Your Own” series for newbie and vicarious gardeners.
Sacred Season Blessings upon all my Boo Pals. 🙂
Merry Christmas everyone! Oh man, I am so exhausted. It has been go, go, for two days but so much fun. Last night I made filet and lobster here and had a fun time with the grandleezy, son, daughter in law and my sons father. The kids got me Tivo with the first three months free. Son will hook it up tomorrow as he forgot the code to get me started online. I am really excited as my sleep pattern sucks. Fall asleep early and miss the few shows I really love. When I wake up at midnight and cannot get back to sleep I won’t have to watch late night crap!
Over to the kid’s by 7 am to watch the grandleezy open Santa’s gifts and exchange more presents. Slippers and a great warmup suit! The Ex always gives me a $100 gift card for dept store which is great for the after hooliday sales! Son made an excellent turkey on the Weber grill and I always make the best gravy in the world and the stuffing. We really had a great day. Oh and got to see the Bears beat the Packers. I am an ol Chicago girl and the Bears will always be my team. What a great holiday!
Booman and all the Boomers here at the Pond, thank you for showing me the way to participate in the fight against the Cabal. I printed out bumper sticker sixe sheets of paper that only say Impeach and planted them all over the grocery store yesterday morning. I had the giggles for an hour afterwards!
…to you, Mr. BooMan, and all the Tribbers.
Good to have you around.
