Matthews and Russell Tice

Tice was a guest on Hackball with C Matthews and several tendencies were noticed in Matthews’ questions. I can update later when a transcript is available.

One thing is clear and that’s Chris Matthews will give the president unlimited power and excuses simply due to the tragedy of 9/11. He was tougher on Tice than he has been on others and treated Tice like a convicted criminal rather than respect his patriotism. This is not new for Matthews but he crossed another line tonight.

I’ve noticed that Matthews’ usual ploy of invoking 9/11 and using it to dismiss administration responsibility also coincides with his demands for accountability from non-admin sources.

If he, and others, would demand the accountability the people never received for the unanswered questions of 9/11 then folks like Tice would not be put in the dilemma that BushCo puts them in.

9/11 changed everything and is the main excuse for any action that BushCo and other politicians want to justify. None of them have given 9/11 the proper investigation due a criminal act as it was.

If 9/11 didn’t happen as it’s told to us that it happened then those are the questions of accountability that need answered first. The answers will remove most justification for the illegal acts of Bush and his minions. This is how Matthews and others similar to him need to be dealt with. If it’s not done, nothing will detract from the growing police state we live in. Any violation of law or act against humanity will be falsely justified by the legend of 9/11.

How much do you think the GOP pays Matthews to act like that?

oh yeah, almost forgot. Did anyone catch him yesterday when he was so proud that he looked up the lobby laws?

I frankly stay away from the hardball thing, so that I do not get depressed all over again. I can not stand mathews. He is a nut job for the most part, with an ego that runs away with him on all days. I detest him in most ways one can detest. I also detest russert too. I detest mitchell. Oh hell I detest too much and too many…:o)

I suppose Tice will be considered a nutcase by the D.C. elite. I find it appalling that Congress refuses to hear his testimony.

I can’t seem to find whether or not Tice is scheduled to appear at the hearings next Friday but Gonzales and Yoo have been officially invited…ha! Tice volunteered to testify so I assume he’ll be there. Those should be televised on C-Span.

In April 2003, Tice sent an e-mail to the DIA agent handling his suspicions about a co-worker being a Chinese spy. He was prompted to do so by a news report about two FBI agents who were arrested for giving classified information to a Chinese double agent.

“At the time, I sent an e-mail to Mr. James (the person at DIA handling his complaint) questioning the competence of counterintelligence at FBI,” Tice wrote in a document submitted to the Inspector General. In the e-mail, he mentioned that he suspected that he was the subject of electronic monitoring.

Even considering the source of this next article it includes some more information as to how Tice got to the doghouse.

Mr. Tice said he was one of at least 14 other NSA specialists who were sent to the motor pool as administrative punishment.
Mr. Tice also said NSA security officials forced him to undergo two evaluations by agency psychiatrists who declared him mentally unbalanced. The agency’s security officials used the evaluations to suspend his clearance, he said.
Mr. Tice had been nominated to receive a medal for his intelligence work during the Iraq war. The medal was withdrawn after his clearance was suspended.
Mr. Tice said the evaluations were part of a tactic to remove him from the agency for reporting his suspicions about a spy. Three other psychiatric evaluations, including two conducted while he was at NSA, showed he was normal, he said.
An NSA spokesman said the agency does not comment on personnel matters.
Mr. Tice’s case began in early 2001 while he was working for the Defense Intelligence Agency. At that time, he said, he began to suspect that an Asian-American woman working with him at DIA was linked to Chinese intelligence.
The woman voiced sympathies toward China and against Taiwan, and showed what officials say are often signs of espionage, including personal travel abroad and unusual affluence.
Mr. Tice said he alerted DIA’s security office to the woman’s activities and initially was told his suspicions were unfounded. He transferred to a job at NSA in November 2002 and continued to report his security concerns about the DIA analyst.
His concerns were heightened by the case of the FBI’s longtime paid informant, Katrina Leung, who was arrested in April 2003 for supplying FBI counterintelligence secrets to Chinese intelligence and for having affairs with two veteran FBI counterspies.
Mr. Tice said that after Miss Leung’s arrest in April 2003, he sent an e-mail message from his NSA office to a DIA security official questioning the FBI’s competence in probing Chinese espionage.
Mr. Tice said during one exchange with the DIA counterintelligence official he was told there is “reason to be concerned” about the female DIA analyst being a spy.
The DIA official forwarded Mr. Tice’s e-mail to NSA security, which then ordered him to take the psychiatric evaluation that led to the suspension of his security clearances.

If Matthews was a journalist he might want to look into some background on his guests.
