I estimate turnout 100-150, not bad for a miserable night. I did get a few decent pictures in spite of the dark and the pouring rain.

Judging from the honks, many passing drivers were supportive.

I thought I despised and feared the Bush administration, but these even more alarmist folks from Not In Our Name made me seem optimistic~

As usual, when I play photographer I can’t participate fully in the rally or listen with concentration, so I missed much of what was said.

A speaker I liked was Rev. Lang from Trinity Methodist church, which has been active in the Peace movement; I recognize the name from other peace coalition actions. He painted a grim picture of the upcoming fascist-dominated years, yet was quietly motivational, rather than angry and shouting like the NION speakers often are (with good reason, but if it grates on even me…)

I’m surprised the 34th Dems agreed to participate, since the chair has said he doesn’t want to demonstrate alongside of the abrasive ANSWER, and many of these people were just that. The banner looked fabulous, though (not just cause it’s mine…)

NION said they planned to go to DC and do this same presentation in front of the White House. Hmmm…
