Well, that was a nice break from politics. I feel badly for Susan, and all the Seahawk fans. But it was a good game. Seattle just took a big step, and they will be a force next year.

Actually I’ve never been fond of the color pink untill CodePink and I read up on why the color pink. They’re taking it back from the Matel/Barbie clan. Pink a sign of peace and motherhood. Pink a sign of a Warrior to me ๐
Believe it or not, I am so glad that the Superbowl is over! The online versions of the papers were full of nothing but the preparations for the game for a couple weeks easy!! But, I know there will be at least another week of analysis of how wonderful it was for Detroit. Then, back to the usual MSM bs!
I was getting ready to lose it! (Actually stopped checking the Detroit papers a few days back.)
I know how you feel – it was like nothing else was going on in the world. We tuned in for the half time show, then turned it off again until about 10:15 which was when Grey Anatomy was supposed to come on. Kept half an eye on it until the program finally did show up, then turned the tv off as soon as it was over rather than listen to more blather about the game. Channel 7 started their Super Bowl count-down a year ago – 365 days until XL {sheesh}.. We’re not much into sports and I’m considered the family “jock” because I at least know which shape ball goes with which sport (g).
Yes, my immortal Jasper doggie. I have her puppy teeth still. She’s sleeping now… But she’s doing some funky things lately and I wonder about her. I hate that.
Too bad my kids are in bed.
I feel like cranking some Soungarden or Rush. I’ve been feeling that way a lot lately. Maybe it’s my way of trying to drown out the crazy fucking world we inhabit.
Gives me a headache (due to the tbi) if I really crank it though. And what is worse, the apartment below me is vacant! Can you imagine the party I could have? ๐
Accoutrements?
Definetily ;o)
The best consert I ever saw was Pink Floyd at RFK Stadium in DC in 89, 90 maybe. It was the Learning To Fly tour. That whole damn place was swaying.
I couldn’t even tell you the best concert that I ever saw, there have been quite a few. But I remember when I was a kid, every year at the MI State Fair, I saw so much Motown and I loved it!!! More memories…
I love Motown music bit only had one opportunity to see one of the greats.
Smokey Robinson at Wolftrap in Va. an outdoor theatre.
He was amazing but I was disappointed he didn’t play my favorite song, Cruisin.
Glad you were able to see Smokey! As you said, one of the greats. But there are just so many more–to numerous to list!
Still love Motown, probably always will. My brother (who lives in another state now) still has his old Motown albums!
And, some of the older Motown greats will sometimes play at the Blues Festival (held in Hart Plaza). One year, it was so ctowded, people were standing in the middle of Jefferson when Stevie Wonder was playing! And Areatha was unbelievable the year after! The Blues Festival is kind of an annual thing for me!
Oh man….you had to go and mention the Blues now didn’t ya? ;o)
Here on Long Island we have an annual Blues Festival too but we don’t get top bill names. That’s cool too cuz you get to see so many unknown talents that you otherwise might never know of. It’s a two day deal with two stages. One electric and one acoustic.
Hell I’d go just for all the cool beer ;o)
Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.
To this day I cannot find the words adequate to describe the intensity of that trip to Berlin…I was living in Bavaria at the time and I and a friend drove to Berlin, specifically for the concerts…if memory serves,, they did 7 shows…in commemoration of the falling of the Berlin Wall. The entire city was whacked out the entire time we were there.
I like Pink Floyd, but I’m unwinding tonight with a Jerry Garcia tape.. Amazing how that guitar & voice are comforting. This is what’s playing right now:
I want to say to my sisters and my brothers
Keep the faith
When the storm flies and the wind blows
Go on at a steady pace
When the battle is fought and the victory’s won
We can all shout together, we have overcome
We’ll talk to the Father and the Son
When we make it to the promised land
Chorus
If we walk together, little children
We won’t ever have to worry
Through this world of trouble
We’ve got to love one another
Let us take our fellow man by the hand
Try to help him to understand
We can all be together
For ever and ever
When we make it to the promised land
Our bible reads
Thou shalt not be afraid
Of the terror by night
Nor the arrow that flies by day
Nor for the pestilence
That walketh in the darkness
Nor for the destruction
That waiteth in the noonday hour
[chorus]
This world is not our home
We are only passing through
Our trail is all made up
Way beyond the blue
Let us do the very best that we can
While we’re travelin’ through this land
We can all be together
Shaking a hand
When we make it to the promised land
[chorus]
When we make it to the promised land children
Make it to the promised land children
Make it to the promised land children
Make it to the promised land
When we make it to the promised land sisters
Make it to the promised land children
We can all be together, forever and ever
When we make it to the promised land
[chorus]
We can all be together, forever and ever
When we make it to the promised land
I listened to KOMO Radio’s call-in show. Every single person who called in, save one, blamed the referees. A wide cross-section of people, cities, levels of fan involvement …
I hate to blame the refs, but they were a factor. When they robbed us of that first touchdown, that was huge.
I’m still going to wait to read Steve Kelley and Art Thiel tomorrow to get their impressions.
The nice part was that all the fans are immensely proud of the team, and have GREAT hopes for the future.
I’m jaded though because I’ve seen what the NBA refs did to the Sonics when the league wanted another team to make it to the finals…. teams from smaller TV audience areas always have a harder time. It’s the fact of life in pro sports.
I didn’t watch, but from glancing at the comments, it sounds as if the refereeing was about the way some of the figure skating judging used to be in the bad old days when the Eastern bloc judges got really political.
And I say this as a person who watches a lot of football…an embarrassing amount of football…really…that “offensive pass interference” call was B.S., and Roethlesberger did NOT get that touchdown!
p.s., I’m a Chargers fan, so I think I’m fairly unbiased here…
Listenign to KOMO Radio again … a bunch of Canadians were just on. They all came down to Seattle to watch the game and support us.
See, British Columbians regard the Seahawks as their team, just like people across Washington state, Oregon, and Idaho — probably Montana too. There are a lot of sad people in little mountain or farm towns tonight.
Now it’s my turn to turn in.
Today was a nice day here at the pond.
I wish the Seahawks could’ve come through for Susan but she’s a good sport and they’ll be something to reckon with next year. Just watch our for Eli and Tiki ;o)
I spent the weekend with the neighbors digging out pups from my shed. It seems a canine family had taken refuge in it and had 8 or 9 little cuties there. The mama had taken such good care of them and they were just full as ticks! And she had apparently been fairly free with her favors – looked like a couple were chow mix, one looked like a rottwieler face, and there was a chocolate one and a black one and a golden teddy bear.
I had thought about a couple of months ago that I needed a dog, living alone as I do. And as wise people have said, you have to be careful what you ask for!
National Geographic Channel has a program on about offshore racing. Those are the kind of boats I paint in case anyone cares to look.
Cool! Know exactly what you are talking about!
Hey I didn’t know that.
I was wondering if you were an artist ๐ Hot Damn!
Yeah, and I always wondered if you liked the color Pink ;o)
Actually I’ve never been fond of the color pink untill CodePink and I read up on why the color pink. They’re taking it back from the Matel/Barbie clan. Pink a sign of peace and motherhood. Pink a sign of a Warrior to me ๐
My nickname is “Azul” Spanish for Blue.
Azul,
Azure,
Blue,
Bleu,
Blau.
Me, I’m a purple person. All shades, but definetily toward the magenta fade.
You have the coolest job I’ve encountered in months– or coolest hobby, be it the case.
Thanks.
The owners are a drag though. There’s a reason why these men want big, Loooong boats you know ;o)
Are you saying they come up short elsewhere? ๐
Usually in more ways than one ;o)
Only my own.

and lamenting the aging of my dear sweetie doggie…
The Immortal Jasper dog?
Yes, my immortal Jasper doggie. I have her puppy teeth still. She’s sleeping now… But she’s doing some funky things lately and I wonder about her. I hate that.
Know what you mean. One of my cats was acting funky awhile back–turned out to be a hairball–yuck!
It’s over!!!
Can you imagine!! Two weeks coverage of that thing. TWO WEEKS!!! Nothing but Superbowl superbowl superbowl.
The media didn’t even offer that much coverage for Katrina/Rita.
Imagine if they covered the war/iraqi children and women massacre for two weeks.
The media? I thought you were talking about Susanhu. [snark]
Too bad my kids are in bed.
I feel like cranking some Soungarden or Rush. I’ve been feeling that way a lot lately. Maybe it’s my way of trying to drown out the crazy fucking world we inhabit.
Drown out???
Nahh, you aren’t capable of that. Only Bush Inc do that.
I’m a Lunatic Asylum blast out type when I’m shaking out my walls.
HAVE TO get a house so I can make use of our Yamaha system. Damn!!
I just got back to the PC after turning on some Rush!
That’s pretty telepathic of me ;o)
Nothing like a good inner skull treatment.
Gives me a headache (due to the tbi) if I really crank it though. And what is worse, the apartment below me is vacant! Can you imagine the party I could have? ๐
Sigh… to think back to the good ol’ days when Rush was only the name of an excellent rock band or a brand of amyl nitrate– and not a first name.
I was just thinking Pink Floyd’s Animals album (with the appropriate accoutrements, of course) would be good about now…
Accoutrements?
Definetily ;o)
The best consert I ever saw was Pink Floyd at RFK Stadium in DC in 89, 90 maybe. It was the Learning To Fly tour. That whole damn place was swaying.
Friends of mine saw them in CA that year, and said it was amazing (I had left to come back East about a week before the concert).
But, I never saw Pink Floyd!
I couldn’t even tell you the best concert that I ever saw, there have been quite a few. But I remember when I was a kid, every year at the MI State Fair, I saw so much Motown and I loved it!!! More memories…

The soundtrack of my brief high school career. ๐
That and the new Abu Ghraib themesong. It is called ‘Dogs’ afterall.
Sounds about right.
Perhaps the most surreal concert I’ve ever seen…for reasons that should be obvious.

And I am thrilled to have mine in bed. He went out of his way to harass his parents today. I am spent.
OH and sorry Seahawk hopefuls (of which I was one) a hopeful. And a huge sorry for the Seahawks fans.

I’ll say this about the refs: no wonder they call the other team the Stealers.
Condolences, Susan.

Leahy is trying hard to corner Abu on Cspan. He’s doing pretty good I think.
