It looks like it was a church
Grain elevator.
Think you’re right. That’s a loading chute in the middle and I’ve rarely seen schoolhouses with such.
That was to get them fat baptist women in the church. LOL
Thanks for the best belly laugh of the day.
you’re welcome. I know you seen them. They wear fashions designed by Omar the Tent Maker, wear makeup applied with a trowel amd still ahve beehive hairdos from the 50’s.
since I’m somewhat sceert of being reincarnated in that form I try to be pc and refer to the more gross examples as sumo wrestlers.
Here’s the official winner folks.
Since I figured it was a little to easy no prize was offered tonight. Maybe next time.
Looks like it used to be a church or a schoolhouse.
Rapunzel’s little tower on the prairie.
Oh, froggybottom, I can tell by the list who you are tonight.
The lack of a heavy 80’s music rotation was probably a big giveaway.
ROTFLMAO!!!! cannot remember the 80’s?
Actually it was Cowboy Junkies and Kristy MacColl. I think this means we all know each other way too well.
Someday I’m going to do a list from my vinyl collection and see how many “huh?” comments I get.
Probably by then I’ll stop confusing Kirsty MacColl with Kristy McNichol. After you listed a couple of her songs I Googled her and found out she died kind of mysteriously?…hit by a jet ski or something but there’s some mystery surrounding it. Her voice is nice.
I love her songs and her early death really saddened me (What I read said she wasthat she was killed by speedboat that had gone into a swimming area). I take it you listened to some of her songs. Did you hear ‘In These Shoes’?
I listened to a few of them on Amazon..you know those 30 second snippets? Maybe I’ll have computer boy “obtain” some for me…totally legally of course.
Well considering some of the first music I listened to was big band music. I bet I know most of them. LOL
My vinyl is mostly classical, blues, folk, and jazz. A quick sampling of names: Siegel-Schwall, Nathan Milstein, Tim Buckley, and Barbara Carroll.
My mom had a huge big band collection (78’s) that I listened to all the time when I was kid though. I love that music.
The only time I remember seeing my parents act like a couple is when they would (very rarely) dance around the living room to Tommy Dorsey and other big band music. I remember my young, pretty mother singing “That’s why the lady is a tramp” by Frank Sinatra while dancing around the kitchen fixing dinner.
I am a blues & jazz nut. I know classical music and love a lot of it but am not good at names of “Famous” conductors. LOL Folk music is a major part of any liberals life especially if they were alive in the 60’s even as a child. LOL I recogize all the names except Nathan. LOL
Nathan Milstein was a violinist — my personal favorite and his recording of Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas is a treasure.
My random 10 for tonight consists of
Private Idaho – B-52’s
Love Circles – Squeeze
Down to the River to Pray – Allison Krause (from the O brother Where Art Thou soundtrack
Someday, We’ll Be Together – Diana Ross and the Supremes
Shout – Tears for Fears
Rhythm of the Heat – Peter Gabriel
Biko – Peter Gabriel
Kool Thing – Sonic Youth
Sign Your Name – Terence Trent D’Arby
September – Earth, Wind, and Fire
How is everyone doing?
Most of are pretty happy to see FRT’s but I’d guess you’re pretty sorry.
I hope you had a really great week off.
It was a good week. The house looks good. I am relaxed. Andrew is starting to show signs of separation anxiety more often, which is the best thing to happen all week!
I tried to post a photo, but I am having some technical difficulties.
Did you get to work on the China scrapbook (and the — we hope — diary based on it)?
Uh…er…Hey look, over there! Isn’t that George Clooney?
Thank you for the dedication. I feel the love in this room and I think that is why this cafe is fast becoming my favorite spot on the web
New job? I haven’t been around in couple of days, so I am out of the loop.
LOL not a new job but back to the old one after being out on FMLA for 2.5 months.
Is this your last “long” weekend?
No, I started back at work on Wed. It just takes a lot of adjustment after being home that long to be back at work 9 hours a day including lunch plus commute time. LOL As glas as I am to be back at work, I had gotten use to sitting around in boxers and a t-shirt and napping when I wanted to. LOL
Man, when I was on FMLA, I had zero time to sit around. Laundry, cleaning bottles, starting dinner, but no napping.
I was out for depression and anxiety not a baby LOL
I figured that you weren’t out for a baby. LOL! I’m glad that you’re doing better.
LOL Yeah if I had had a baby I would be a millionaire. Thank you. I am very happy that I finally got help and got my life back.
Are you on happy pills? I’m on happy pills. Let’s all be happy….weeeeeeeeee! :0)
I am taking lexapro 10mg probably for the next 8 or 9 months. Then I will be weaned off of them to see if I can handle things on my own. LOL I am sure I will be able to. I waited so long before getting help that a combo of drugs and therapy was the only way to pull me back from the last edge of the pit before I fell into total darkness and did something stupid.
I know that pit well. I’m on effexor and it seems to be working. Haven’t you guys noticed that I’ve become all sunshine and light? Huh, haven’t you? Damnit…answer me!!!
Don’t know about the s & l but I had noticed that the snark quality had zoomed back up to its stellar heights.
The funny thing about the effexor is that when it’s working, Mr. Nature doesn’t seem so annoying! Thereby proving that his assholeyness was all in my head…most of the time.
I love the pause before most of the time. The valume of that pause was enormous.
YES WE HAVE!!!! You are Mary Sunshine to us all.
Ma’am, yes ma’am.
over for a bison and tofu BBQ.
It’s nice to have an oasis from the world.
Yeah on the bison, but I’ll skip the tofu. Are you cooking, or MsNDD?
If you know how to cook tofu so it taste like something besides mush, I’ll have some of both. LOL
Apparently tofu takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with. I wonder when McDonald’s will come out with the McTofu sandwich?
LOL It does but some people who are vegetarians are really bad cooks!!!! I think mckyd’s tried a veggie burger but it did not sale so they went back to road kill.
I’ve met people who could cook tofu and actually have it tasting like food. But alas such talents are beyond my present skills.
It takes marinating it in the right sauce.
That’s right.
If you’re actually interested in this, NDD, be sure to question Isis if you see an opportunity — an absolute champion with tofu. Ask my mother — who absolutely despises tofu, but ate one of the goddess’ dishes with absolute gusto.
thanks, I’m always intereted in new things, so I’ll try to remember that.
I have one memory of a tofu meal that was just delicious, so I know it can be done.
I do the cookin’ when we BBQ, which in the country location would be done over strictly wood generated coals. That place has never seen a charcoal briquet.
MsNDD and a few other volunteers do the prep work. And I’m generally heavily into the cleanup end of things.
I miss my border collie though, she used to be in charge of cleaning the grate inbetween BBQ events.
Hmmm. Maybe you shouldn’t tell us how you clean your BBQ grate before you have us over for dinner. Although I’m impressed you even clean it. I just let everything burn off.
I’ve noticed that whenever open fire is involved, men love to cook.
Actually these days I use a motorized wire brush wheel, very sanitary…
Now just don’t be asking me how I make doughnuts!!!!
I know refinish69 has the patent on LOLs…but, damnit..LOL!
what can I say. I find humor in everything and a laugh is always a good thing.
actually that comes from an old joke, the first part is the guy at the lunch counter watching the cook make hamburger patties, the cook is throwing a chuck of burger up under his armpit, squeeze down, presto, burger pattie,
So the guy at the counter says to the waitress, Did you see how the cook made that burger pattie.
She says, “that’s noghin’ you should see how he makes the doughnuts…
Giving new meaning to that commercial; gotta make the doughnuts, gotta make the doughnuts.
ROTFLMAO!!!! That would be our mantra if it were true.
LOL !!
LOL same way I make bagels?
Hey, 2nd belly laugh of the day.
Remind me never to eat breakfast with you two.
Cream in your coffee has a whole new meaning doesn’t it?
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
hey, mahn, fell completely off the chair on that one.
Now don’t be a tellin’m anything about the tapioca pudding. All good cooks hold back the really important recipes.
How can I possibly emphasize the EWWW more than I did above?
Well then you know what I have always said tapioca pudding had the consistancy of. LOL
hey, don’t be knockin’ my breakfast abilities.. that’s the one arena of cooking in which I excell. (not counting omlets or quiche).
I make great French toast, wheat bread, a few days old,
eggs, a little whipping cream, some cane brown sugar, a sprinkle of salt, and when cooked only real maple syrup allowed.
Hey, you owe us an answer to the ‘what is it’ (which is, btw, a great photo).
I’ve been waiting for maryb to show up, she’s the one who requested a “what is it photo.”
Apparently maryb has a social life. I hate her!
maryb’s out for the evening.
Whelll!, says Jack Benny.
In that case I’ll have to admit that you are the winner.
What was interesting was one of the young male whippersnappers in the photo shop called it a barn. Not likely he moved from the rural area into Fargo. I’ll have to ask his origin sometime.
I’d better go post the answer up above too.
I actually had no doubts. 🙂
oooops missed the compliment… thanks, I had a tough time getting the foreground, ended up I had to move the film up a little in the slide to get it to scan the photo completely to the bottom. Two trips to the photo store.
I’m having to rethink my framing techniques, after repeated mistakes of having things too tight. Now with all this digital stuff one can always crop later. But you sure can’t stretch what ain’t there to begin with.
And on that one, the holes to wind the film are right below that bottom edge. It just didn’t look right at all when the photo came down to the bottom of the bldg.
My dear, there’s no man more appealing to me than one who can cook and hammer.
I hope your wife knows how very, very lucky she is.
Alas, off I go to sample some of my own really bad vegetarian cooking 😉
Later, folks!
LOL Dog slobber is the best cleaner in the world!!!!
Cat whiskers?
No way! You don’t think they’re those aluminum tubes Iraq was obtaining in order to make a nuclear weapon?
Not cat whiskers?
Yes, cat whiskers!
the gray hairs as the wash in dye wears off. LOL
Sadly, they look like some errant hairs that keep growing on my chin.
you’re a tad close to that porcupine
What other pics do I post besides pootie pics?
Pussy McFlabbington playing with my foot.
pictures of your backyard
pictures of your darling kids
pictures of the ocean
pictures of your freaky-neat living room
Oh, you left yourself open to this.
Wow — beautiful picture. Just wonderful — such a cheerful spirit, with much love.
Thank you! Sadly, that fat little baby is now 16 years old. :::sniff:::
Whew, I was afraid you were going to scare me with another picture of the living room.
They are quite a charming crew. As befits their charming mother.
My living room has cat barf on the rug right now. I usually just wait a little while and she eats it again…so tomorrow it will be all clean and shiny.
Speaking of clean and shiny, I guess I’d better go open up another cafe. Everybody seems to be very talky tonight.
Looks like some great memories would be associated with that photo!!!
That’s a truly great shot, SN.
And, ouch!
What do I win???
