Hello friends, neighbors and fellow bloggers!  I’d like to take a moment of your time to invite you somewhere interesting.
As most of you know, I’ve been blogging here on Booman since the beginning and over at the Orange Empire for more than two years.  I’ve also had my own little ditty of a blog, which I know some of you have visited.

Today I’d like to welcome you to a new website – FloggingTheSimian.com, my very own domain and new home on the internet!  

Unlike my previous blog, FTS is a “community blog” similar to what you see here at the Frog Pond.  Registered users can write their own articles (called “diaries” here), participate in threaded conversations, write and vote on polls, etc.

Booman (and Dkos) use Scoop software while I’ve gone with a difference choice from an outfit called Drupal.  It’s a little bit different than the set-up here but it shouldn’t be too much of an adjustment to get used to.

One of the really nice aspects of Drupal’s software is the ability to incorporate RSS or news feeds right into the site.  And all registered users can customize which news (and which kinds of news) you see.  This means you can have the site bring you breaking news or perhaps only articles focusing on energy issues.  And it’s not just news from traditional sites – you can have articles from blogs appear as well, including from Booman Tribune itself.

Just so it’s clear, I’m not trying to “poach” any traffic from Booman Tribune.  This website does a wonderful job of focusing on American politics and that’s not ever really been my game.  I’ve always been drawn to writing stories of a more international flavor as well as doing in-depth analysis of important issues of the day.  I respect Boo and have “known” him for a couple of years now and consider my blog another tool in the arsenal in the group effort we’re all engaged in – to raise awareness about the incredible destruction this administration has wrought upon our country.

My political alignment tends to jibe with most of you here – although not always 😉 – and I think you will find my new website a friendly place for you.  Think of FTS as the “foreign intelligence” wing of sites like Booman Tribune.

If you’ve enjoyed my previous blog, I want you to know that it has now taken on a different mission – it will focus solely on my experiences and life in Romania.  Therefore I’m actually going to be writing for two websites, Flogging the Simian (at the new address) and my personal Romania blog at the old address.
