The DVD has commentary by the writer who explained what it was like to write for Altman. Where you kind of give people stuff to improvise. But he was really interesting about the actual plot and all the “great house” details.
It was kind of fascinating, but sort of pissed me off, too. I’m not sure I’d make it through the commentary.
The one movie screening I ever attended was Altman’s movie, Streamers. I was really excited and then the damned thing turned out to be totally traumatic. I felt brutalized. I’ve had a bit of a resentment at him ever since.
For a time there, it seemed like everytime I got to a cafe, Family Man was commenting on how he was off for a nap lol!
I think CG has had a busy week. How ’bout you maryb, do you get much time during the day to get online? For me it varies depending on current project deadlines, stress levels etc.
depends on my day. On days I’m on the phone most of the day I can lurk fairly easily. On days I’m drafting documents I can also lurk, but its a little more distracting to me. If I’m in meetings — nothing. But I try not to get drawn into comments, because then its all over.
that it’ll look more like the Sahara if I take a similar pic in the summer. It was quite the freak storm, but enjoyable for us desert dwellers (and digi-cams).
snow like that in years, it was gone in a couple of days, but we got quite the dusting. The valley that my town resides is around the 3000 foot level and we had about six inches.
an idea of the location, the cropping of mountains under the word “Latino” are the Superstition Mountains that are one of the boundaries of the Phoenix metro area.
Note to the NSA who are trying to identify me: Bring it on
I’ve been trying to do research on the immigration rallies being held all over the place. There is quite the uprising going on. I was pleasantly surprised to see that CNN headlined the Milwaukee March today. I plan to attend the local one tomorrow. Can’t wait!
How is my favorite Canadian online florist doing? 🙂
I’ve noticed all your hard work. I like seeing how you’ve come together w/ Duke and XP and everyone to become more powerful in your messaging. Good luck tomorrow and be safe! {{{Manny}}} We’ll await your diary!
I’m doing okay — it’s getting late here though, but I want to prove to maryb that I can hang w/ her lol! 🙂
but I “cheated” on mine — took a series of pics then used Photomerge in Photoshop Elements to put it together; I figured a good chance to try it out before I make the Alaska trip this summer.
with the Tucson protest is the location. It’s being staged at Jon Kyl’s office, which is great, but it’s in the affluent foothills area of the city and I think they would get a bigger gathering on the southside of town (which has a more concentrated Latino population). Oh well, here’s hoping that it will still produce a shockwave.
it’ll be great to have a report, as we’d have never heard of that big one in Chicago if not for the local bloggers.
I was just telling a lefty friend of mine about that one Tues night. He’d never heard a word of it. And the cops said 300,000, so you know it’s more, I think the locals said 500,000, and supposedly on Lou Dobbs or whichever millionaire mannequin they said 75,000.
Bloggers on the streets with cameras, the only way.
person alive if they manage to mass 1,000,000 in Los Angeles on Saturday. We are getting huge amounts of hits at Migra Matters from SoCal. Duke said the last time there was a spike like that was right before the Chicago rally.
I’m going to jot that down somewhere — and I also saved the link to Jim’s info and dada’s too — so that we can come back to the info when we ever get around to this.
sounds like you are pretty well organized. I file things, but then trying to find them later can sometimes be a challenge. So when we get to doing the diary and before I waste too much time I’ll send out and sos, ha!
(If you only do one thing to get organized, I’d suggest starting a Tickler File, which is 31 days, 12 months = 43 folders which give you a rotating year long calendar for a file system.) 🙂
I got my camera back in September for my bday. It’s a Kodak EasyShare Z760, 6.1 megapixel. I love it! I’m able to take these huge pix and crop them down to something pleasing.
ha! you think you’re the novice, the only directions I’ve found for mine are in Spanish, and although I’ve had a couple of semesters at Univ level, I ain’t quite up to an op manual level…
One of these days the English version will show up… then look out!!!
You have the eye though Manny — you can pick a good perspective, you know capture your subject well. That takes the eye! 🙂 And anyone that can capture the view you did off your balcony is pretty talented! 😉
I had a 1/2 chihuahua and 1/2 rat terrier, as a youngster. Best friend a little guy could ever have had, and 12 years worth too.
She weighed 25 lbs, maybe, and went for a black labs neck once when she though he was getting to close to me and my brothers. Luckily the lab just ignored her, looking like, WTF, hilarious, after the fact…
my tia has what we call the Chihuahua Brigade and if they’re not attacking your ankles, they’re shivering in excitement as if they’re having a seizure. They are pretty lovable despite the yapping, bug-eyes and ferocity 🙂
my calendar to commemorate the event. It’ll have to be for Friday since you said it, even though I’m still living in Thursday for the next 24 minutes 🙂
That is really something Manny. NDD below posted about the texture, and I agree w/ him — your photo almost has a thickness to it, like you should be able to reach into the clouds and feel them. It is really amazing!
I see there’s a texture, or tint, or something in your sky that I don’t have here, even though we have unlimited landscape to work with once we’re on the edge of a city or in the country.
clump together, I suspect it has to do with the lack of humidity in the area. During the summer months, the monsoons roll in very quickly, and I can attest to living through a moment where it was raining on one side of the street and not the one I was standing on. Of course, that changed rapidly and I was drenched, but those are petty details 🙂
Thank you! That one’s lovely, too. The cloud reminds me of when I used to live in the desert. I’m in the northwest now, so I don’t see too much of that kind of sky.
Welcome to the all nighter. Grab a stool and have a drink.
Whew. I made it. Now I’m going to fall asleep…
You’ve definitely set yourself a record tonight FM. Now, the pressure will be to live up to it 🙂
Yes it went quite well tonight and the pressure in on to break Mary’s record. Although I don’t think anyone can. :p
I AM the champ but you COULD do it.
thought I’d set the tone right off
does bed-blogging count? 🙂
gives a whole new meaning to “lap-top”
Ladies? I thought those were British men.
SFC article
are you implying that we are of the age of Dame Judi Dench? You might want to re-think that fantasy.
I’d better go read that before I commit myself to any further foolishness… be back soon.
I’m here. Those other two aren’t ladies. (But Olivia is).
pfft.
… not naked though 🙁
See? I knew the two of us were ladies.
Family Man is out of the building and headed to bed.
Good Night All.
good night!
thanks for another wonderful evening FM
You did a great job tonight!
g’night!
I think I’m out of here too.
Sweet dreams. You too, FM.
See you tomorrow — yay, it’s Friday!
Thanks everybody-see you tomorrow!
g’night!
Well Izzy and Olivia, looks like its just us again. I can’t believe how late FM lasted tonight (CG too, but FM is more surprising).
Yup, just us until NDD gets back from reading about old, naked British ladies — who knew? There’s no accounting for taste.
I wish ej would get back on schedule. Which probably requires the NCAA tournament to be over 🙂
at least now I know who she is;
I saw her last in this film Ladies in Lavender which I thought was great. Did you guys catch that one.
I didn’t, but I liked Calendar Girls and I want to see her new one where she runs a strip club in WWII London.
I liked her when she played Q in the James Bond movies.
Me too! And I love Helen Mirren, especially in Prime Suspect.
Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect is great. I liked her in that Robert Altman film (can’t think of the name right now) where she played the housekeeper.
I liked that movie, but the dialogue was difficult to understand at times. Altman and his realism…
The DVD has commentary by the writer who explained what it was like to write for Altman. Where you kind of give people stuff to improvise. But he was really interesting about the actual plot and all the “great house” details.

sorry, I’m watching the end of UCLA/Gonzaga and it’s really exciting. I’ll be back in a minute.
OK I’m back
Damn you’re quick!
There was only 2 seconds left. I wanted to see if Gonzaga managed to pull out a win. Nope.
‘s okay — I’m watching the figure skating on cbc. Hubby’s watching the game.
I did see her in that, but not in the last one with the naked ladies.
It was no Full Monty, but okay on dvd.
the last google session wore me out!
I’m a little slow tonight!
“Mrs. Henderson Presents”. Here’s the list
oops, wrong one
Calandar Girls.
For a time there, it seemed like everytime I got to a cafe, Family Man was commenting on how he was off for a nap lol!

Olivia, was it you one time who was agreeing with me about how great a show DaVinci’s Inquest is?
No, I don’t think so Izzy. I have watched it though, but don’t think I’ve ever talked to anyone online about it.
Sorry, maybe it was Catnip. The show’s one of my favorites, although I haven’t seen the new ones where he’s the mayor.
Do we need to clean the cafe with a clorox-soaked rag? Yawl have been having quite the fiesta (without me!) O:–)
I just changed the banner at my blog, using a picture that I took a couple of weeks ago when it snowed. Let me know what you think!
looks like Siberia to me!
that it’ll look more like the Sahara if I take a similar pic in the summer. It was quite the freak storm, but enjoyable for us desert dwellers (and digi-cams).
so how unusual is it to have snow on those peaks?
snow like that in years, it was gone in a couple of days, but we got quite the dusting. The valley that my town resides is around the 3000 foot level and we had about six inches.

I spent a winter in Glendale,2000-2001 and used to hike on Thunderbird Hill? NW of Glendale. So from T Hill which way would I be looking?
Although that might be too far west to see them through the pollution 🙁
OK east was the direction I was looking much of the time as they were launching the hot air balloons over that way.
Manny, that looks awesome!!! You are so talented!
How are you doing tonight?
I’ve been trying to do research on the immigration rallies being held all over the place. There is quite the uprising going on. I was pleasantly surprised to see that CNN headlined the Milwaukee March today. I plan to attend the local one tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Reminds me of the snow pic I took of the Diablo Range a couple of weekends ago…but yours doesn’t have the suburban sprawl…
I cropped out the urban sprawl, but shhhhhh, we won’t tell anyone 😉
is the panorama all in one shot or did ya put more than one together?
pic, using a 6.1 megapixel camera, so I just cropped it down to the size and range that I wanted to use.
OK, now I see why both olivia and I are working on upgrading as I’m at 3.2 mp with mine.
but I “cheated” on mine — took a series of pics then used Photomerge in Photoshop Elements to put it together; I figured a good chance to try it out before I make the Alaska trip this summer.
Okay, off to take a shower and go to bed…
night, Cali! See you all tomorrow after the rally (if I don’t end up in jail). They can’t mess with Friday Bud Blogging!
Hopefully there will be too many people there for them to arrest anyone. But make sure you end up on the front page of the paper tomorrow 🙂

All depends on the organizing — getting people transportation, etc.
have been making their rounds all over town. I’m sure transportation is being provided, but I’m not too sure.

It would fill me w/ hope that the people are taking back the power.
Point and shoot? Are you a photog too Manny? Hey, NDD — we have a bunch of pros here at BT.. Maybe they should be writing the diary series lol! 🙂
Yeah, who was it earlier, SallyCat, had a premium membership at photobucket… she’d be the one to crank out a diary on photobucket.
It’s one of my favourite things. 🙂
have you got a training video?
…but this is the book that I’ve designed my org structure around: Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity.
(If you only do one thing to get organized, I’d suggest starting a Tickler File, which is 31 days, 12 months = 43 folders which give you a rotating year long calendar for a file system.) 🙂

oh wow
that’ll melt your heart.
🙂
I took a better on last week
holy chihuahua! that’s even more amazing than the last one. Novice, my ass!!!
me an ankle-biter 🙂
I had a 1/2 chihuahua and 1/2 rat terrier, as a youngster. Best friend a little guy could ever have had, and 12 years worth too.

I hear a helicopter… they’re onto me!!!!
what he said (I don’t think I’ve ever said holy chihuaha)
my calendar to commemorate the event. It’ll have to be for Friday since you said it, even though I’m still living in Thursday for the next 24 minutes 🙂
That is spectacular!!! Look at the colours!!!
I said the original pic was a four out of 10 for our sunsets, the latter pic would be good enough for a nine. It was awesome.
That is really something Manny. NDD below posted about the texture, and I agree w/ him — your photo almost has a thickness to it, like you should be able to reach into the clouds and feel them. It is really amazing!

Must the influence of the desert air, latitude, ?

that’s beautiful
I hope your eyes aren’t too crossed from all the fun you’ve had tonight 😀
you should have come and played too
when I saw the comment counts racking up in the threads, but I was distracted by my tv. Perhaps I should just get rid of it 🙂
DJ was giving us “lessons” 😉
That’s gorgeous!
Here’s another one I took earlier that day
Thank you! That one’s lovely, too. The cloud reminds me of when I used to live in the desert. I’m in the northwest now, so I don’t see too much of that kind of sky.
Look at that blue sky!
It reminds me of boran2’s painting w/ the cloud!
Yeah, I thought it reminded me of something
I’m back. I just saw the end of the men’s finals in the skating. Sorry about the game maryb. My guys were rooting for Gonzaga as well.
whenever you’re ready the new cafe is ready. Cleaned with clorox and everything for Manny!
