70 mph winds, some of them straight line. I’m still assessing the damage.

I hope everything is okay. We had a tree fall on one of our cars during a storm once. Not a pretty thing to see.
I had another unexpected nap – or became unresponsive as BooMan puts it – this afternoon. I laid down on the bed for just a minute and didn’t move a muscle for 2.5 hours. I can’t tell you how weird this is for me to do because I’m such a light, fitful sleeper. It’s gotta be my new meds.
Sure rub it in.
But I missed the best part of the day! And I don’t feel refreshed – in fact I feel like I could go back to bed for the night.
You’re talking to a man that had no naps today.

Well as Andi said the excitement of the day was me getting a shower and no naps.

Women of a “certain age” have usually slept with some dogs now and then. Alas, mine were of both sexes.

I was trying to sound like I understand it when Andi and Indy get to talking about gender identity and theory, etc.
Maybe it’s heterospecinormative.
Those gender discussions are completely one-sided. I just nod, mumble uh-huh, and smile brightly.
I don’t believe that for a second. But for online discussions you can skip the smiling brightly – she can’t really see you.
It’s all part of creating the proper state of mind.
Mine have always been male with George being the lastest.
When I was little I thought all dogs were male and all cats were female.
Sounds a little sexist to me. 🙂
I thought they were the same species, but the males looked like dogs and the females looked like cats. Oh come on Family Man, you never thought something crazy like that?

16 Apr…for prelims (for me) I’ve fallen into the unfortunate (?) habit of getting extensions, so the final forms aren’t required until Oct. I really HATE doing taxes, esp given the way this misadmin. spends them.

Lots of stuff — went to a hockey game (the last for the season b/c it was the first round of the playoffs and they lost the series 4-2), then some errands, then a couple hours out in the garden –ugh!– it looks so bad, then taking some photos of the crocus. Busy.

I spent a couple hours out there raking and cutting and pulling, and trying to get the dead stuff out. Andi! There are many green things growing under the brown stuff. Just little green bits popping up here and there. The crocus aren’t open fully yet. Here’s today’s view:

So while raking etc., I planned a bit. I think I want a huge herb garden — much bigger than last year. And I want to grow some veges like sugar snap peas and runner beans and even cucumber on trellis’ so that I can eat them! I have to make my notes. I should get a photo of the garden in its present state, so you can truly appreciate the brown, mucky ugliness. 🙂

You caught that did you. Well, I thought about it some. I’ll have to call my provider and inquire. I’ve got a laptop and desktop and I don’t want to have to pay for a bunch of modems or whatever it is.
Yes it is a big step.
I’d give my first born child to get broadband. (think they’ll notice that there isn’t any child to give?)

If you sign up don’t rent/lease their modem…buy a wifi modem, like a LYNKSIS etc.mine was about $60US and I’ve seen them since for less..set it up with a password to log on so your neighbors don’t “steal” the bandwidth…and you’ll be rocking and rolling.

I’ve got tree limbs down, although none landed on anything. I have 2 shutters that were ripped off. Inside I have smashed votive candles in the bathroom where I didn’t close the windows. My parents are OK, but many roof and shutter issues in their condo complex that they are dealing with(my dad’s on the board). And at least I have electricity — 90,000 are without and aren’t expected to get it back until at least tomorrow afternoon.
Other than that, everything’s good. Not many injuries. It’s coming your way. Take it seriously.

We have tornado watch until 11:30. The leading edge of the storm is about 40 miles away.
Well you know what’s coming so you and Jim be careful.
The strong wind hit about 5 minutes before the storm hit. It was strange. So don’t wait until the last minute to take shelter.
Don’t worry — we’ll be in the basement if it get serious.

Hey there, folks! Happy greetings at the end of a truly stellar day. Hope everyone’s doing well, despite sleep oddities.
Me, I’m with FM — no naps here at all today, despite the fact that I didn’t hit the hay until 5 this morning (which magically became 6), then up & about at 9:30 (which magically became 9:31).
I’m about to either fall forward or fall back. In any case, after a fantastic day weatherwise — complete with actual croaking & chirping froggies at our newly-thawed pond — it’s grown quite cool. Time to stoke the fire, eat & pretend wakefulness for a short while longer.
Please pardon the ‘dive-bombing’ — I’ll be back soon enough.

The different uses for this particular gadget would be astronomical.
