The San Francisco Chronicle has a profile on Markos. Whenever I read these things I can’t help but imagine what kind of crap they would say about me. At least I’m sure they wouldn’t say this.
This summer, the kid who regularly got beat up in high school for being a 110-pound nerd with a Spanish accent…
But, given my behavior in high school, I’d probably prefer Kos’s treatment.
Except from his wife. Apparently, Markos spaced Valentine’s Day this year…
Overall, though, it is a pretty nice profile.
on the book tour roadie about that time? I think she’ll give him a pass (but he’d better damn well come through for the anniversary!).
As for your article, I’d suggest a print of the famous underwear shot paired with a shot of Boo, and the heading: “The handsome blog proprietor with the even more handsome dog…”
🙂
Odd…read the Chron earlier at breakfast and missed the article; will have to dig it out of the recycling stack…
But your turn will come, BooMan.
oh, I know. That’s why I prefer to toil in anonymity.
My favorite quote from the SF Chron story:
Yeah, that’s a great idea. I feel like without actually stepping outside, the feeling that people get about politics from blogs is a bit too inflated. There’s a lot of work that has to be done outside the confines of cyberspace.
my own daily horrors and struggles at first. It is a good place to start and it is a good place to gain a bit of focus and maturity about certain issues because so many people will debate and sort through just about all of the known facts that can be found out there around the issues…after that though we do have to take to the streets and the many forms of that that are available and those we create.
He dances. Who knew?
SF article was a nice, gentle, informative tribute. I hope to catch him on Colbert Report Thursday evening.
Any idea if the viewership of The Daily Show and Colbert Report are high here on Booman? I generally do nightly open threads over on Daily Kos, and there’s usually a fair amount of comments.
Just a gut feeling that it is high here too.
Just a little nihilistic comment to the effect that for the last several days I think the average “Recent Diary” is superior to the average “Top Post.” Just saying.
Let’s keep our eyes on the ball. That is, on the fate of the world.
Call me bitter, but I don’t give a rat’s ass what anybody says about Markos, who is the very definition of lucky and ephemeral. And I’m sad to see BooMan publicly displaying envy over such a small issue. He is the leader of the frog pond, and he is sucking up! Pathetic.
Getting on TV doesn’t mean shit!
Stand tall, frogs! There is good to do and worlds to conquer!
thanks…i guess…
sucking up? Gee… Okay…
That’s the way I saw it. I think you’re a much better writer and analyst than Markos. For what it’s worth, you have some loyalty from me, and I think you should be standing every bit as tall as Markos. Thanks for gentle response.
I only question this idea of envy.
I don’t envy that level of scrutiny.
The pond, without a single doubt, is THE best, highest quality community blog in the sphere.
Sandy Koufax is old and quit playing in ’66. I hereby award Booman Tribune the Smoltzie Award for BEST BLOG PERIOD. John Smoltz, loved by all, most versatile, WILL be a hall-of-famer five years after he retires.
Koufax W-L 165-87, BA .097, FP .954, Postseason W-L 3-1
Smoltz W-L 177-128, BA .170, FP .969, Postseason W-L 15-4, and SV 154
It goes without saying, imho, no sucking up needed and none perceived. It’s why this blog gets the Smoltzie – it’s OK to pat a team member on the back and give out some props whenever possible….
Kos has done a pretty great thing, of course he is no demigod but he is a great role model and a boon to the progressive community. we could all do worse than follow his examples
Ugh. I still can’t get over his marginalization of women’s rights- and his bizarre take on how “progressive” things are becoming in Colorado.
I really hope that BooMan will become a major spokesman, because he GETS it.
I loved how they asked Markos about the SD abortion ban…and his total non-answer. Guess they didn’t know how he feels about “single-issue voters” and the “sanctimonious women’s studies set”.
Geez. We are so needy- not wanting to support candidates who want to take away our freedom to choose how handle our own bodies.
In Colorado, we have a Democratic candidate for governor who does not respect the rights of women. Now they are shocked to find that no one will canvass for him and 25% of Democrats say they won’t vote for him. What do you want to bet that his loss is blamed on Colorado women, rather than the candidate?
We don’t even need to bet on that one. I think they pick these guys with the thought that they can blame the women voters later, rather than taking a hard look at the piss-poor candidates they’re fielding.
I just love you girls bare! He said, “I’m not a good driver”……HE SAID THAT HE FUCKED UP ABOUT THE ABORTION ISSUE Girls. Come on, I know you all read it. He admitted and apologized in the same old old old I think I’m a dominant male dysfunctional bullshit way! He needed to date way way more in high school. He needed to date me in high school. I could have straightened his bullshit ass right out before he could have made such a huge mess from hell of things! OH WELL!
Good morning, Tracy. What is this about you dating other bloggers? Are you trying to make me jealous?
You have no worries…..I thought that a long long long time back I maybe could have given Markos a hand figuring out a few of the things that seem to puzzle him sometimes. It’s kind of a pity thing.
Pfft. He did NOT say that he fucked up about the abortion issue, he said he wasn’t so good on strategy, which seems odd given the book he’s promoting…
…and you would’ve kicked his scrawny butt in high school, honey. I have no doubt. 🙂
you forgot the mention the Bazoonga fans.
Are you trying to start something? 😉
Nobody seems to get Markos.
He is a centrist politician. Not a radical, and not really a “blogger”, either. He had the vision…a self-centered, self-interested and ultimately negative vision, but vision nonetheless…to see how left blogworld could be used, and he has done so.
He was WAY first in that particular line, and now he is cashing in.
Generally speaking I despise centrist politicians. Markos among them. They sustain the mediocrity of the world.
“…his total non-answer…”
Yup.
He’s got the style down, OK.
That is what he is…or has become, at least. A centrist poliitician. (I wasn’t involved in blogworld until last year, so I didn’t watch his progression. Regression. Whatever.) And he is running for office somewhere in the future. BET on it.
Visions of sugarpplums and (Dare we say it???) Oval Offices dance in his young head.
So…no one should be surprised when he does what he does.
He has been quite plain about his positions. Hell, he is obviously PROUD of it.
Neither should anyone be surprised when the mainstream media anoint him Head Blogger In Chief.
That’s what they do.
They neuter movements by mediocritizing them.
Hail to the chief.
Personallly, I don’t think hhis thing has legs.
No staying power.
Weakish.
No whiskers. as the boxing guys say.
No chin.
But I’ve been wrong before.
Senator Moulitsas (D Blogworld)?
We shall see…
Later…
AG
AG, I have to say I agree with you on this one.
I wonder if people have any conception of how much money a popular site like DailyKos rakes in…
