So President Bush leaked national security information for political purposes.

Ho-hum.

And lied, numerous times, in both displaying his vehemence against the leaking of national security information and the magnitude of the actions he would take against leakers.

Yaaawwwnnn.
Yes, these are my reactions because I am not the least bit surprised. I fully expected such behavior. It is what he has exhibited his entire life.

But unbelievably, for once in my life, my reaction is in line with congressional Republicans–although for different reasons. It’s not because the Republicans aren’t surprised, it’s because they could care less. These aren’t Americans–these are simple partisans whose loyalty is aligned more with their own personal standing than that of the viability and future of their country.

There were Democrats who crossed the so-called line to berate and vote against ex-President Clinton regarding his sexual peccadiloes and his not being truthful about these escapades.

So where are the Republicans who will take a stand and tell President Bush that enough is enough? Who in the GOP is willing to support their country over their political party?

Yes, Clinton obviously should have thought about such matters beforehand but he lied to protect himself, his political standing AND his family, especially his daughter. That’s no excuse and doesn’t lessen the misdeeds but it’s the truth.

Bush leaks and lies for craven political purposes period. Again, this is nothing new.

Reporters at The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, NBC, ABC, CBS, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report are all aware of Bush’s political history and resume. Any brief reading of such clearly indicates this is someone who hesitates at NOTHING for political gain. Anyone who places his political life in the hands of Karl Rove is fully aware and knowingly making a Faustian bargain. Some say love abides–in this case fear abides and dominates the mainstream media. Fear about loss of rank, privilege, salary, prestige and future. Fear that ‘buys’ so-called neutrality.

George Bush has been and always will be a back-stabbing, do-whatever-it-takes, scared little boy. The drinking stopped but sadly, no maturation or personal growth took root. He has always needed to accomplish something in his life equal to, if not greater, than his brother and father. That’s what has driven him–haunted him is more accurate–his entire life.

That is the primary reason George Bush pushed for the invasion of Iraq and all the other transgressions and misconduct that were needed to ‘sell’ it to the American public. He needed to achieve something–rearranging the entire Middle East– that he thought would vault him over and above his other family members. Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and the rest of the neo-cons, understanding this, fully exploited such a weakness.

Some believe in the concept of harmonic convergence–this was the anti-harmonic convergence, a true star chamber of horrors.

George Bush is someone who has always looked outside himself–elsewhere–for sense of purpose and meaning and was adamant about what he perceived as THE opportunity to better his self-perceived family rivals.

The invasion of Iraq and subsequent Middle East makeover was meant to be an exorcism of and for George Bush, removing the mocking  ‘family fool’ tag he has felt so deeply.

But through this warped and immoral attempt to achieve personal betterment, his actions have simply resulted in the deaths of thousands, a bankrupt nation, the staining of any sense of national moral rectitude, anti-science biases running rampant and an indelible BUFFOON tattoo etched on his forehead.

All was and is to be expected. Sadly but more important, dangerously, there will be more upheaval, misery and death because too many neutered Democatic politicians lack the courage of conviction and Republican politicians don’t care.

George Bush and his cronies will stop at nothing in an attempt at resurrection.
