Petals for Peace: Ops Center Day 4

Yes.  Still here.  There doesn’t seem to be much impetus behind planning for this.  The event is what it is, and will be what it will be.  The number of confirmed participants has grown.  But there are even more encouraging signs.

Everyone I spoke with today at the weekly peace vigil was aware of the event.  Many were participating eventhough they had not signed-up.  I think the number of participants will be much higher than our last event.  Though difficult to track.  But we’ll do our best.

And even better.  Picketing at Rogers’ office today, a number of people passing agreed to participate.  The power of the people.  Very encouraging.  A couple of young women even left, drew their flowers on paper, and wanted to tape them to his door (they didn’t understand the event starts next week).
And better still.  I was contacted by a local paper today.  Out of the blue.  We’ve sent no press releases.  So word about our action has spread fairly successfully, I’d say.  I hope I may be able to post a MSM story on this tomorrow or the next day.  One can never predict how press coverage will treat this event.  But I’ll pass it along for good or for ill, if I see it.  The one nice thing about media coverage.  Especially in advance.  It could increase participation substantially.

The only thing left for the blogosphere is to pump up participation.  By all means, tell me you are participating below, if you want to.  Or e-mail me.  It is good to hear from you.  And if you need the details of how to participate, from near or far, it is easy, and I’ll be happy to give you the details.

The last thing all of you can do.  Help create a group of bloggers to assist in spreading this message on throughout the blogosphere.  The official diary explaining the action will go up Tuesday, April 18 at 12noon EST/ 9:00am PST at Kos and here.  Please collect you and your blogging friends and recommend the Kos diary.  Comments are also appriciated.  The reason is simple.  If it makes the list at Kos, the likely participation will sky-rocket.  It is almost like the media effect.

I’m going to slack off posting these ops center diaries over the weekend, as I don’t know that there is more we can do.  I’ll post another Monday.  And then launch in with a diary for the protest on Tuesday.  Thanks to all who have committed to help.  In any way.
